Does anyone else feel we have too many Aces in the characters page? The trope is defined as someone who's the best of the best in a specific activity (in this case, cooking). Having 10 or so people who "fit the bill" sort of negate that trope.

Probably. There's reasonable cases to be made for some of the examples. Isshiki, Erina and the rest of the Elite Ten probably deserve a mention, but that could go on the main page in a blanket listing.

I think it should probably be restricted to Erina, Alice and Hayama. Those three are basically held up as the best of the year even if the latter two are only on par with Souma and Ryou. Ryou and Takumi don't really deserve mention here.

Honestly, I'd restrict it even further to just Erina for the first years, the First Seats (Tsukasa, Gin and Shinomiya), and maybe Jouichiro.

I don't think Tsukasa or the alumni need an entry on the character page. They should get lumped together under 'Elite Ten' on the main page. I think that's what you're supposed to do in such examples. I also think Hayama deserves a mention the way the story hypes him as being the closest to Erina.

Pulled the following entry because it's apparently being Edit warred on:

  • OOC Is Serious Business: He's usually carefree, hot-blooded and prideful, so when he loses this attitude this means something caught his eye, and so far Soma managed to do this to him thrice — after declaring his intention to challenge the Elite Ten, when he recognized one of his utensils during the Autumn Banquet, and when he reads that Soma managed to recover from 40th (last) to 35th place among the central area stalls on the second day.

Now I personally don't think this is a valid example. First, Kuga is a newly introduced character, so his character is not fully established, compared to other characters. Second, just because his basic character is "carefree, hot-blooded and prideful", doesn't mean he has to be this way 100% of the time — the fact that he loses this attitude 3 times in his brief appearances shows that it's not an example of him acting OOC.

I was going to take this to discussion myself rather than just delete it again. But yes, I think it still doesn't fit. First, OOC Is Serious Business requires someone to react to the change in attitude. Second, he's still not really taking Souma that seriously. In particular, when he was looking at Souma's rank changing from last to 35th he was being sarcastic when praising Souma. "Oh boy Souma you are just so impressive wowwww." During the two moments I think indicate genuine surprise, it was really just appreciating that he had come up with a good idea. First when he sees Souma intends to use that Taiwanese stall food and the second time when he learns Souma is serving noodles now too. That doesn't mean he's actually alarmed.

Character information profiles: I don't think we normally add information like that. Also, what it lists there is not exactly accurate either. Further, it's going to contain spoilers given that it talks about specialties, which are a bit of a big deal instory at the moment. Thus, that kind of addition is inconsistent and likely to be against policy in the future.

There's no reason you can't add those into the paragraph as normal information. Like, "Souma Yukihira is a first year transfer student at Tootsuki and a member of the 92nd generation. He lacks the formal education of the students who attended Tootsuki during middle school, but makes up for it when his years of experience as a professional cook at his family run diner. Unlike many students he tends to take a more flexible approach to cooking, using many different types of cuisine. However, he favors cheap Japanese foods intended to be eaten regularly."

About the new characters introduced at SHINO's, I realize that the two female staffs were given different names in the different scanlations. Mangabird uses Lucy Amehate for the chef and Kotouda for the waitress. In Mangahere, it's Lucie Hugo for the chef, and Gao Wei for the waitress. If no official translation are available, which of these names are preferable?

Thinking of reorganizing the page to have less folders. Currently planning to have the Fall Finals folder absorb Alice, Ryou and Takumi, moving Isami and Ikumi to the 92nd generation folder and Konishi to the 93rd folder, which will become a students of other years folder. Any other suggestions would be appreciated.

I'd say only 5 sections for the students are required

Polaris Dorm, Council of Ten Masters, Fall Classic Finalists, Other Students, Legendary Alumni.

Konishi can't be in the 93rd generation folder, though. He's a second year, so he's supposed to be in the 91st

Retloclive: So you want it to be split up even less then? I suppose there's no reason why we couldn't, but I was expecting more 91st and 93rd generation students to show up.

Adept: I know, that's why the folder's name would change.

Huh. I didn't realize Retoclive's post earlier. I think a smaller split is fine for now. Those other students aren't that important, so they won't be using up too much tropes or folder space.

^That, and you can always just split them into new folders down the line if more 91st/93rd students start showing up.

Sounds reasonable. I'll take care of that then. I was also thinking of moving Jouichirou to the alumnus folder even though he didn't graduate as well as Mayumi to minor characters. Anything else to recommend?
