So I shuffled this over from Misa's page.

  • Her clingy behavior to Light starts making a lot more sense if you stop to think about it. Misa has witnessed two murders, been nearly murdered twice herself, and has lived alone for about a year while following the trial of the guy who killed her parents, and having to deal with the idea that he might get off. Then she meets Light, falls in love with him, and is promptly captured, tied up, and interrogated by the police; with her memory loss, she thinks that she's been captured and tied up by a stalker. Also with her memory loss, she loses Rem, the one person who loved her. And then she is handcuffed in a car in the middle of nowhere and she witnesses what she thinks is Light's execution ... while he's sitting right next to her and she's begging Soichiro to let Light live. L knew it was an act, Soichiro knew it was an act ... but Misa didn't. And after that's revealed, Misa is kept under twenty-four-hour surveillance by L. During that period, Light is the only person she has the remotest chance of being able to talk to, someone who shares what she herself is going through, someone whom she remembers from her pre-locked-up-by-L life. All considered, her being clingy to him is a lot more understandable than it first looks like.

It's a pretty interesting theory, but it suffers from a bit of a flaw. Misa already held a media station hostage, killing several police and at least one member of the press, just to get hold of Light, and then threatened to kill any other woman she saw him with, in her two major introductory acts. I think it's safe to say she was clingy before everything she went through as the second Kira. That, and she possibly fell in love with the idea of Kira long before she met Light.
