Riquinni was a prostitute, wasn't she? When she comes home and money spills out of her shoes, she looks ashamed. Japanese prostitutes used to keep money in their shoes. It adds new light to "the scene", doesn't it?

That's literally the only clue. It is true that she was in a red-light district when we first meet her, and again later when Shiro turns up to help hand out her pamphlets, but we never see her doing *anything* else to support that theory. It is typically Gainax to only leave hints without going any further, though.
