openAkiba's Trip H&D trope page editing please Videogame
Hey Y'all,
So Akiba's Trip H&D has been released after a few weeks now and I think its about time someone a bit more capable than me(I am but a measly and lazy troper who is both a little shitty at describing and getting myself to actually do something) can actually try to take a look and update the page a little more if possible. That being said, kindly also take a look at my edits(especially in the character page) and edit them as required because I'm pretty sure I didn't get them entirely right.
Let me know when any one of you who have actually played the game and take a look at it!
I'm also currently collecting Akiba's Trip extra materials to add in extra information that's All in the Manual stuff that elaborates more on the characters themselves and designer stuff(along with a few bits of Wordof Saint Paul). When I get that stuff translated(...eventually, I'm having a hard time looking for someone to translate them), I'll prolly let those who help out with editing know.
openNamespace Issue? Live Action TV
Is there a reason Camp Pining Hearts is in the Just for Fun namespace instead of the "Series" namespace? I'm not familiar with it, but from the description it seems misplaced.
openHow do you properly format this title?
So I'm creating a new sandbox page and am trying to work on the title. I've found a page that gives instructions on adding things like punctuation, numbers and such, but nothing on stuff like...C Ms. I know that normally to fix this would be to do it like CM but trying that in a wiki word doesn't work. How does one fix this?
openWord Cruft/Gushing?
On many The Woobie entries, I've seen sentences or something that basically say that "you'll feel sorry for the poor thing" or something similar. Is this Word Cruft and/or gushing?
Edited by ChillyBeanBAMopenGrammar issues and shoehorning
Vicente Laurel 123 has been making edits with pretty bad grammar, several of them being shoehorns, despite editing for at least two and a half years. Several of their edit reasons being "add [x] reference" have me wondering if this is them being an Entry Pimp (mostly for Lin-Manuel Miranda works) and trying to mention works they like even when it doesn't quite fit. Examples:
- On YMMV.Peter Pan, added this difficult-to-parse example that doesn't explain why it's Hilarious in Hindsight very well at all.
- On Funny.Curb Your Enthusiasm, added this edit which has poor grammar and focuses more on explaining the reference than describing the comedy of the scene.
- Seems to be adding flimsy actor connections on the Vivo pages, like here. Granted, Actor Allusion is such a mess of misuse that I can't fault them for this alone.
- This edit on YMMV.Central Park uses Hilarious in Hindsight referencing Hamilton despite the fact this show came out five years after that musical.
openEdit war on YMMV.DigimonTamers
Link to the start of the edit chains. lgcruz proceeded to downplay author's support for the conspiracies via rephrasing it to the tune of "he just talks about them", claiming to having posted "proof" in the forum thread (with more posts on following pages).
On the page itself, after lgcruz' first softening edit, starjewel reverted it to what it was before and then lgcruz redid their changes.
open Poor grammar troper
RafifT26's grammar is, quite frankly, atrocious. Their edits on this page in particular tell me they have no idea about how to format a page.
I sent them a couple of grammar notifiers just now but I feel like this might need more intervention if this continues.
openPossible ban-evader
Marvig is doing the same kind of edits Varl was, deleting entries about Hadestown's political themes without edit reasons, saying a very controversial Digimon Tamers audio drama was only upsetting "to some", as well as deleting a More Popular Spin-Off entry for Um Jammer Lammy.
Edited by lalalei2001openTroper with atrocious grammar, possible ban evader Videogame
AdventureTim5120 has shown a complete lack of understanding for present and past tense, along with other issues like plural and singular, resulting in butchered entries. The problem is that there doesn't seem to be anyone checking the quality on the pages they edit (I don't for Sword Art Online, at least), as is (unfortunately) standard for several anime and videogame pages.
I don't think further notifiers are necessary; they've done a fair amount of damage for the past months, made even worse by their sporadic activity shutting down any chance of communication (my last notifier got no response, which is awfully common for a lot of offending tropers I try to reach out to).
As for ban evading suspicions, I have a hunch that it might be the same editor from long ago who keeps jumping IP addresses, if their few entries on Honkai Impact 3rd pertaining to spoilers from the Chinese version (which is always one update ahead of what we can publicly trope) are any indication.

Can someone please explain when Nothing Is Scarier got custom-titled to have the word "nothing" in quotes and the reasoning behind this decision?
openVesterandfriends Grammar Cleanup Request Web Original
Both the actual page and videos for Vester And Friends have some pretty bad grammar, such as capitalization issues. Should we run a cleanup?
openProblem Troper
Tropers/Sire_Shade added two entries on Characters.Rise Of The Guardians. The former is a ZCE; the latter has superficial something and a broken link, and can you really apply They Look Just Like Everyone Else! to this guy◊? Then, I checked some of the troper's editing history, and there's more ZCEs, trope slashing, bad indentation, and... this. I sent a ZCE notifier about the RotG edits but this all is concerning.
Edited by TenebrikaopenA note encouraging use of zero context examples
Spotted this note on Close on Title —
Looks like it was added back in 2015 by someone who was not a mod. Since this obviously flies in the face of Zero-Context Example, would it be cool if I removed it?
openTwo Tropes per Line
I've seen some works where they have 2 tropes in one line. Is that okay or not?
open 'Oh, I guess you heard about (unrevealed secret)' Live Action TV
1) There is a secret being concealed from someone 2) Someone who knows the secret has a discussion in private with the person unaware of the secret. They talk about something completely different, perhaps disheartening or saddening, and this elicits a response. 3) A third person comes in, sees the person is sad, and presumes they have heard the upsetting secret. 4) They say something like, 'so, I guess you heard about (reveals secret),' or, 'so they told you' (and the unaware person probes for details). 5) Argument or conflict ensues.
Is there a page for this trope?
open Is there such a thing as a "Trusted Editor"? Western Animation
I've noticed that a troper, in their profile, listed themselves as a Trusted Editor of a specific set of pages here on tvtropes.
I hadn't ever come across that term before. If this a real thing, I'd be curious to know how that role works?
Or is it just a self-proclaimed title chosen by the troper that has no real meaning?
Edited by rva98014
This isn't really something to report truth be told, but I've noticed that a user called Mr.French, who I believe is fairly active on this site and has performed a number of recent edits (as recent as this June at least), has a virtually blank edit history. Does anyone potentially know why?
