openCatharsis Factor / Bumblebee Film
I added down Catharsis Factor to Sally's mom getting singled out because I bet people found it rewarding when she was called out for being thoughtless to Charlie. I know I added Take That, Scrappy! as well since some people happen to dislike her for insensitivity, but do you think this fits in both Catharsis Factor and Take That, Scrappy! or just the latter?
openWhen pages should be spoilered Film
I'm currently (well, have been, given the latest server crash) working on a page for the film The Death of Dick Long. That movie, without going into too much detail, revolves HEAVILY around a twist in the last half or so. My question is whether I should spoiler the tags on this page, or keep it all unmarked, because the twist in this movie is enough to make a great portion of its tropes nothing but white rectangles if spoilered. That, and The Cabin in the Woods is a similar type of film and it has its spoilers marked, but also has tons of white rectangles in its tropes.
openA Cinderella Story Film
I added Moral Event Horizon to Shelby from A Cinderella Story because I thought that torturing a innocent teen into tears like that is beyond any sense of forgiveness. The fact that Shelby continues to harass her as she's in tears in the hallway just sinks it further. And the indication that she's torturing Sam for being an abuse victim really brings it down as well. Do you think I’m exaggerating that it's a Moral Event Horizon? If not, how come?
Edited by NoobMasteropenUnclickable literature page button Film
If you go to Film.Girl Interrupted, you can see a button to go to Literature.Girl Interrupted, but clicking it... just lands you back on the film page. What's up with that?
open What is the trope about not revealing the existence of a creature name? Film
The one where kids find a secret village or a fantastic creature, they have fun and such, but at the end for whatever reason they have to leave a promise they wouldn't tell anyone there exist. For example, kids find Nessie, Nessie is a great friend and they have fun together, and when they finished it tells to children they shouldn't told anyone it existes or the adults would send the monster to a zoo or something. So of course the kids promise that to the monster and the movie finish. The end.
openTurbo A Power Rangers Movie formatting Film
I'm not entirely sure which troper is enforcing this, but Power Rangers Turbo has a redirect from Turbo: A Power Rangers Movie that's been in place for a long time. There has been an assumption for a long time that because it is in continuity with the tv show (unlike Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: The Movie) that they somehow have to remain merged.
My natural assumption would be to de-link them because we trope based on media, not continuity, but would like to get some consensus before doing so in case there is any backlash.
open Movie/TV Show Explaining Theory of Historical Procreation Film
This is a random one. I remember part of a film or TV show where the narrator was discussing how procreation works on the psychological level (I believe specifically speaking about humans). They talk about how when the environment/conditions are poor (i.e., war, death, famine), that the species is more likely to procreate more to bulk up the numbers to survive as a species. In times of peace, they feel less of a need to do so.
openRemoval of Commented-Out Notes Film
Brady Gliwa 73 removed the commented-out messages about Base-Breaking Character, It Was His Sled, and Fandom Rivalry from YMMV.Sonic The Hedgehog 2020 with no explanation.
openShould Film/Arthur be moved to its own page? Film
Recently, glitterlol95 removed tropes referring to the 1981 movie Arthur from both the the YMMV page and the funny moments page, with the edit reason "cleaned up vandalism".
The edit to the YMMV page has been reverted.
My question is, since the film has nothing to do with the cartoon aardvark, shouldn't it have its own pages?
openStar Wars TFA Edit War Film
On The Force Awakens will1999 added the Took the Bad Film Seriously entry back to the page even after Anddrix deleted it with a citation to a forum thread discussing the reason why.
openTrope for returning Director/Composer/Developer? Film
Apparently, the tropes Role Reprisal or The Original Darrin is for returning actors only? Is there a trope for when the original director/Composer/Developer etc returns for a film/tv show/game that they worked on after several years?
Edited by LordAraghastopenIs there a place where I can request a specific kind of fanfic? Film
I want recommendations of a star wars fanfic, but I'm looking a specific kind of fic. I want it to be a Star Wars Sequel Trilogy fix fic that keeps TFA and TLJ as canon, but not T Ro S. Essentially, I'm one of those people that really liked the first two, and especially all the Rey-Kylo Ren-Luke parts of TLJ, but hate the third one completely.
I want an episode 9 that builds off what TLJ set up and concludes the trilogy in a satisfying way, but most fix fics I see tend to either redo the entire trilogy or accept TFA but not TLJ. I don't want Rose Tico written out, I want Finn to have an arc, and I want Rey and Kylo Ren to have a resolution that isn't a copy of Luke and Vader and I don't think anyone in the world likes Rey being a Palpatine.
So there is a "request good fanfic page"? There is a fanfic recommendations page, but is there anywhere I can ask others if they found a fanfic that does the stuff I mention?
open Edit War on Film/{{Sorcerer}} Film
Hi all,
I think there's the beginnings of an edit war on the Sorcerer page between me and the user Dratewka. After I made some edits, Dratewka reverted most of the edits without comment. After revisiting the page ad noticing that some of my edits had been reverted, I made some more edits and included some of my original edits with my reasoning. Dratewka reverted those again without comment. I contacted Dratewka and suggested that we avoid an edit war by either discussing our differences in the Discussion page or getting some community arbitration in the Ask the Tropers area. After several communications between us, Dratewka made it clear that they were uninterested in accepting or discussing any alterations to the existing entries.
So I'm a little unclear about the process. What's the next step?
open British tv show Film

Everybody else name idk. Pls help find the showw
openMulan WMG Film
This is on the WMG page for Mulan (2020) :
- Between the disastrous test screenings, the lead actress' poor reception (considered to be "more concerned with looking pretty than emoting"), her controversial opinion regarding the Hong Kong protests (which will not be discussed further here), the backlash Western fans have given to most of the changes (No Mushu, no songs, no Shang), and the recent underwhelming performance of Maleficent: Mistress of Evil at the box office, I'm not entirely confident that this film is going to do well in theaters. Perhaps if it ends up underperforming, Disney will decide to start releasing its remakes exclusively to Disney+, or eventually just cease to do them altogether.
- There's also the coronavirus outbreak to be taken into consideration. It took everyone by surprise, but due to the large outbreak many Chinese citizens will be on quarantined or unmotivated to go to the movies, which will lead to the box office badly hurting.
I don't think this is okay, is it?
open A British 80's/90's Movie of somebody stuck in a red bus, and a beautiful song that appeared in it. Film
It was a British movie. I believe from the 80's or 90's, a movie about a certain British woman that mistaken a red bus for another one, and that bus was leading her to China and she didn't wanted to. That is the basic of the movie, however, that girl is just a minor charcter, the main character is a sassy guy with his girlfriend whom are ironically criticising everybody they see, and they are also involved with the bus thingy, however none of them doesn't care too much about it.
I remember there was a scene where the main couple we're in a restaurant, and he started to write something in a cup of coffee with a pen, and she was amazed and asked someting like:
,,oh gosh! How do you do that?"
And he just glanced up at her ironicaly and said:
,,that's a good way of writing your novels, you write them, put them for sale, and if they don"t sell , you just shove it down your throat".
Bonus question: In this movie, a really beautiful song was featured as the main theme for the movie, it was shown to be sung ans played by some people in the movie, in a scene with the band singing in a bar, and from what my dad said, he said that the guys that we're featured in the movie and played the song, was a real band and the original artists of that song, however, he was not sure of the band's name, either of the artist, butbhe kind of looked like Thom Yorke, but it wasn't Radiohead I assure y'all. I saw the movie once, and I still remember the lyrics and the melody of the song, from what I remember, maybe not too accurate, the lyrics we're somewhat like the following:
,,When is Wednesday I think I'll go fishing When is Thursday I think I'll go home. When is Friday I think i'll-"
And so on. The song was rather calm, and it sounded like a 70's ballad like the Stix's ,,Boat On The River" with a slight medieval vibe to it, something like that,
I wish somebody knows this movie and song, if you do, please, somebody respond, I am really curious to know and I search for them for like 7 years and I still can't find anywhere, I asked people, searched on the internet, and still can't find anything.

Shoobedobah added the following to YMMV.Godzilla King Of The Monsters 2019 on June 12th:
I removed it as the Broken Base clean-up thread had decided that it wasn't an example.
Shoobedobah has then added this to the page:
