The two ash-scattering tropes I know are Bury Me Not on the Lone Prairie and Ashes to Crashes.
I think Reality Is Unrealistic is the one you want — after all, cremains are pebbly bits of bone, not light and fluffy ashes. A Heartbreaking Work of Staggering Genius is the only aversion I can think of at the moment.

There a thing about ashes (really cremains) being scattered in a work and they blow away in the wind, even though they don't work that way in real life? Or is that just Reality Is Unrealistic?
