It is all fat. I cut it altogether. The very instant a Real Life folder becomes any kind of problem, it goes right in the trash.

I was going to tidy up the Politically Correct History page since most of it is natter and Justifying Edits and what not. I notice the Real Life section makes up about a third of the page. Is it proper for the real life section to overtake the media sections?

No, it's not. If the Real Life section is a huge mess, it should be cut.

I'm guessing no. But please read the example to make sure they didn't just responded to an example with another example. I should probably go add that to the Tips Worksheet.

Hah. I just came here to bring up the Real Life folder from Politically Correct History. I don't think it's worth saving, TBH.

I certainly hope everyone ignored Mad bringing it up a couple of pages back, and it didn't get that godawful in three weeks. I suppose some of it could live on in Trivia, but I won't exactly be heartbroken if it's straight-up round-filed.

I just discovered Poor Man's Substitute today, which is a great mix of natter, This Troper, and Square Peg Round Trope (a great many of the examples are really The Other Darrin, despite a prominent warning against just that.)

Seems to me that lots of the voice actors (like Dan Castellaneta doing the voice for The Genie in the Aladdin movies) also shouldn't count in that — he was hired specifically because he could imitate Robin Williams.

Hmm. Looking at Randomly Drops, can I just kill most of the super-ultra detailed explanation? For example, this was recently added:

  • Arguably worse is Munchlax. Originally the only way to obtain it (without trading a Snorlax from another game and breeding it) was through Honey Trees. There are 21 trees that ou can spread honey on. Of these 21 trees, only 4 of them have even a chance of having a Munchlax. These are assigned randomly at the beginning of the game and you have no way of telling which ones are Munchlax trees until you actually catch one. Each tree also has 2 of 3 different possible drop charts that vary from tree to tree. The third set can only be used by Munchlax Trees and has a 93% chance of generating a Munchlax. Bad news? There's only a 1% chance of a Munchlax Tree using the Munchlax chart. Also it takes 6 hours after slathering honey for a pokemon to appear, and messing with the DS clock doesn't work. And the pokemon you find is set once you slather honey, so saving right before you check the tree and restarting won't change anything.

Can I just cut this down to something like:

  • Munchlax are also extremely hard to find.

Preferably merged into the

  • FIRST! Level bullet.

If so, I'll go run through that with a super-chainsaw set on DOOM. And possibly getting set on fire.

Yep. we aren't interested in detailed game play hints, helps, or walkthroughs. Some thing like this :

  • Munchlax: Originally there were two ways to obtain one: trading a Snorlax from another game and breeding it; or capturing one with a complicated and time-consuming procedure at Honey Trees.

would be fine.

Politically Correct History has gotten itself a whitewashing. And thanks, shimaspawn, for cutting out the Real Life section. I was going to go through it all but you saved me the trouble and did what I was going to end up doing anyway.

I've gone through What Do You Mean, It's Not for Kids? and cleared a lot out, as well as Fiction in General, as most of it was natter or mentioned later. The first examples of the folder, mentioning anything with a child as a main character or animals, could be posted in the description and it be the same thing.

Suetiful All Along looks to be about 60% natter. I realize it's a subjective trope, but it's not marked as one, and there's a whole lot of justifying edits in there. Way too many for me to begin with.

Not so much natter, but could we excise examples of YMMVs on the What Do You Mean, It's Not For Kids? page that I missed?

Hell Is That Noise is one hell of a natter magnet. I nuked the Real Life section for the third time and moved it to Troper Tales, but it's hard to know where to start with the rest of the article. I'm tempted to just remove every line beginning with ***.

I tried to nuke first person, but yeah, that page has fourth level bullets. I'm not even sure where to start. I'm about this close to suggesting the examples just all be chopped.
