Because the other thread was like totaly sending up bad vibes

Haruka Shitow: Because she's badass, sexy, loyal competent and generally awesome.

Hyuuga Hinata Because that girl just won't back down, even against insurmountable odds.

Masanouske I don' know why, but he's just such an endearing charactr. Goofy, earnest, awkward, and still Bad Ass when he has to be.

Fina Shionzaki Let's just say that her character arc came right out of hte left field for me. In a good way.

Tanabe Ai Because she's a Love Freak that I can rspect.

I love Jacuzzi Splot because he, despite being utterly terrified of leaving his comfort zone, is nonetheless ready to engage in incredibly reckless heroics and badassery to make sure nobody gets hurt. He also simultaneously has the stupidest and most awesome name ever. He is AdorkaGAR in human form.

Sakaki! <3 She's just the sweetest thing, it's impossible to not love her. And she's still badass, at that! Always standing up for little Chiyo.

... I could make a good-sized list out of characters I like but, eh.

Kenzo Tenma, for being a Nice Guy while still being interesting and complex.

Sakaki, who goes without explanation. :3

I'm not in much of a mood for explaining, so I'll just make a list of characters I like: Misato Katsuragi, Mamimi, Mari, Isaac/Miria, and, to a degree, Nana.  *

Tsukuyomi from Negima. Designed to be creepy and damn does she succeed. Definite points to Evangeline, Chisame and Chachamaru as well. I probably actually like them and much of the rest of the cast more, but Tsukuyomi is oddly fascinating.

Tohsaka in FSN for being a good example of a tsundere done right. No comedic sociopathy and genuinely funny when her jerk side kicks in, which makes her dere side much easier to believe in. Kotomine is also an excellent villain, though I'm not quite sure why I like him so much. Being in it For the Evulz yet still morally ambiguous, perhaps.

Haruhi from the Ouran manga, where she's a little jerkier than the anime and also weirder. She's also very different from the female leads I normally see, which is refreshing.

Kimblee and maybe Wrath from FMA. Powerful, evil and very polite. They're also impressively analytical. Kimblee in particular is so affable that I don't mind the whole murderous psycho thing very much.

Mahou Sensei Negima: Chisame, for being so lovably meta, and maybe the best Tsundere character ever. No joke. Negi, when he isn't borderlining Boring Invincible Hero, which thankfully only happens very rarely. Yue, who just rules. Haruna, who is Crazy Awesome incarnated. Misora, because nothing can top a superspeedster prankster miniskirted nun.

Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei: Itoshiki-sensei, Large Ham supreme, and always hilarious. Ai-chan, who is so cute and lovely in all her patheticness. Harumi-chan, who is basically Haruna Lite.

High School Of The Dead: Kouta Hirano. Hell yeah.

Cowboy Bebop: Spike. Coolness made man.

Martian Successor Nadesico: Ruri, the only Loli to ever make the fetish to work for me. Akito, who against all odds is actually very likable. Hikaru (maybe I have a serious thing for Yaoi Fangirls after all). Izumi, who is so cool and deserved so much more screentime.

Tenchi Muyo: Washu. Greatest Genius in the Universe, indeed!

The Slayers: Lina Inverse, the Dragon Spooker, Bandit Killer herself! Perhaps one of the two best anime female characters ever!

Gun X Sword: The Claw, one of the most unique anime villains ever. Van, Determinator supreme.

Shu-chan from Hourou Musuko. I adore the kid and feel bad for them...Very bad...Shu is one of those characters I want to help, but I can't because...FICTIONAL.

Takatsuki from the same series is someone I can relate to at times.

I was wondering when someone would set up this thread.

Miyazaki Nodoka: The most awesome Bad Ass Shrinking Violet EVER!!! Is very courageous, nicely subverts Cannot Spit It Out, and mindread Cthulhu.

Kyon and Shikamaru: Deadpan Snarker

Lelouch (Season 1 ONLY): He's intelligent and an interesting example of a Magnificent Bastard who's NOT a Big Bad.

Edward Elric: Also intelligent, a shonen hero willing to use a side of brains with his brawn.

Aizen: He is such a Complete Monster and Magnificent Bastard who Crosses the Line Twice that his Shoot the Dog moments stop being sad and start being hilarious. I can't wait to see what Xanatos Roulette he's gonna pull off next.

Honda Tohru: Awwww, she's so cute. She's also independent and not afraid of Evil Matriarch Akito. But mostly because she's cute.

L: A genius, yet an adorably quirky one.

Yagami Kazuma: Any Jerkass capable of preventing his Tsundere Love Interest of landing an Armor Piercing Slap on him deserves my respect.

@Nat The Writer: That's Kenzo Tenma. :3

As for me? As I have a hard time hating a character, so I have a hard time loving one. There are loads of characters that I like, but love? That's tough. I think I'd have to put Kyon on the list. And Yuki while we're at it. Actually, I think that second one is right on the money. She's pretty much my favorite character in that whole series to focus on. I could probably read or watch a whole series just about her.

Lancer - being badass, using a lance (which is an awesome, underused weapon), being in it only for the ride, having the best lines, going out in an awesome way (UBW) and generally being awesome.

Straight Cougar - funny, a Crouching Moron, Hidden Badass, and a genuinely nice guy throughout a series full of assholes.

Ikumi Oze - There's not much to explain, I loved his characterization and character development.

Alberto The Impact/Shockwave Alberto - Best. Villain. Ever

Oh God, where to begin? Some that come to mind are...

Haruhi Suzumiya - the most Crazy Awesome Jerkass Genki Girl ever. Whether her actions be cool or morally inappropriate, she's an entertaining character and a fascinating one to watch delevop. She gets better, no matter how much the haters ignore it.

Kyon - For being just as entertaining and interesting as Haruhi with his Deadpan Snarker nature and Only Sane Man Audience Surrogate role in the story.

Katsuhiko Jinnai - Possibly the most hilarious anime villain ever.

The entire cast of The Slayers - particularly the four lead characters and Xellos.

L - Ingenious, morally ambiguous, and one of the most unique takes on the Sherlock Holmes style detective. Such a quirky, endearing, and awesome character.

The main cast of Yu Yu Hakusho - especially Kuwabara.

Asuka Langley - One of the best examples of a Jerk Ass Woobie you could find anywhere. A deeply troubled character and one that can be great for drama, humor, and sex appeal.

Kaworu Nagisa from the same series - because he just plain makes stuff interesting.

Yugi and Yami Yugi - They shared the best damn story of any Shonen lead.

The Elric Brothers - Not quite on Yugi and Yami's level, but close.

Rei Hino - My favorite senshi for being so Hot-Blooded, bold, compassionate, and beautiful.

Lelouch - A Byronic Hero who borders on being a Villain Protagonist. Very interesting. Also a fabulous Magnificent Bastard.

C.C. as well, cause damnit she's just pure awesomeness. I love what a Deadpan Snarker she is in the face of all the series' crazy events. And how she loves Pizza Hut.

Piccolo - For being the most Bad Ass character in the series.

Dr. Kenzo Tenma - For reasons everyone probably knows.

And Rock Lee - 'Cause he's so cool even if he never catches a break.

WARNING WARNING EPIC LOVE FOR MAHOU SENSEI NEGIMA FORTHCOMING WARNING

I worship the ground that Evangeline walks on. I don't know what about her that makes her so awesome - she - just - IS. She's powerful yet vulnerable, cute yet mature, her badassery, her attitude, her Noble Demon characterization, her cute little teeth, her long flowy hair, her sharp eyes, her evil grin, her laughter, her EVERYTHING is just perfect. I love her. I love her to death.

Second favorite from Negima: Chachamaru. I fell in love with her ever since the chapter where she goes about being the kindest person ever. Her crush on Negi and her angst about being artificial makes my heart bleed for her.

Mana. Tall, dark, and bishoujo. Sexiest, coolest character in the entire cast. Love the tension between her and Kaede.

Jack Rakan. If only because of his being the very definition of EPIC.

Nagi Springfield. Hot. Hot. Hot. Love his trickster personality and the flashback arc with him and Arika made me adore him even more.

Setsuna. Wings. Nuff said.

Shrinking Violets are really not my type, but holy crap did my liking for Nodoka skyrocket in recent chapters. Excellent character development.

Gankutsuou. Seconding the Count, definitely. I usually don't go for non-human skin colors but by god is he hot. And badass. His whole characterization and backstory is epic. Also, the fact that he's voiced by Nakata Joji. Love his expressiveness, although sometimes his gestures CAN get a little over-the-top. And this is coming from someone who loves melodramatic over-the-top gestures.

I can't say that I love Benedetto but his character design is certainly lovely. His princess curls are beautiful.

Otherwise, Franz. Oh dear god. Franz. I don't LOVE him in the way I love some of the other characters on this list, I love him for what he did and the fact that he's the only completely good and likeable character in the entire cast. His soul is so beautiful. He has great character design. Gahhhhh I just want to hug him to my chest and cuddle him and hold him safe forever.

Lucky Star. Konata. Otaku surrogate and everything, I adored her personality and the unique voice Hirano came up for her.

Anime Tenchou. Best. Character. To have fucking lived.

Eyeshield21. Hiruma. I really think that if Evangeline and L didn't exist, Hiruma would be my all time favorite manga character. He looks like a demon, acts like a demon, has all the intelligence and cunning and flair and ambition and coolness of a demon, but that doesn't change the fact that he's actually a decent person inside who cares about his teammates. He's just... beautiful. He has the most unique character design I've ever seen in a shonen sports series.

He also holds the honor of being the only manga character whom I actually hold Pervese Sexual Lust for. Seriously. The depth of jealous hate I felt for Mamori when I realized that she was becoming his love interest shocked me because I don't usually feel anything like that for fictional characters.

L. I don't think I need to say anymore, do I?

And... I think I'll stop here for now.

EDIT: Actually, let me second Lelouch, the Elric brothers, Piccolo, Yami and Yuugi.

Also want to add Yami Bakura/Thief King Bakura simply because he is evil and sexy. Ditto Malik and his yami.

Otogi is the sexiest character in the whole Yu Gi Oh franchise. Too bad he lost all personality after he got defeated. Guess that's the price you pay for being part of a Nakama, eh?

L - Awesome mix of badass adorable, insufferable genius and freaky is cool. My favourite of all anime characters.

Osaka - Sweet, gentle, yet delightfully weird.

Franken Fran - cute cloud cuckoolander with stitches and awesome mad scientist skills.

Claire Stansfield - Crazy Awesome.

And there is a wonderful dinner party. XD

Let's see:

Ditto on Osaka

I've always really liked Greed because he has the coolness of Evil Is Cool without most of the evil part, and he clearly has a great time being/pretending to be a bastard. For similar reasons, November 11 in Darker Than Black.

Kyon for hilarious snark, and similarly, Akito in Martian Successor Nadesico.

In Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei, I find Nami a great "straight man"- it never gets old for everyone to call her normal. Kiri is so cute. I guess I'd say I like everyone in the cast except maybe Chiri, and her case, her psychopathy is sometimes funny.

Edit- also Walker and Erika in Durarara- it's like if you crossed Claire with Isaac and Miria- Crazy Awesome with an emphasis on crazy.

Well. When his face is not being all twisted. And even then... *smirk*

It was the same in the manga too. He ended up hanging on the fringes of Yuugi and co. for the rest of the series, if I recall correctly.

Seconding Walker and Erika. Walker moreso than Erika, if only for the epic scene where he rescues Kida's girlfriend.

But out of that group, the person I really love is Dotachin. Only Sane Man in the entire show, and his singing voice is just beautiful. I love him for being this big brother figure who's the voice of reason.

Oh, sorry, I was thinking of his first appearance. In the manga, he was a conflicted opponent pressured into facing Yugi by his crazy father. In the anime, he was a Jerkass who humiliated Joey and wanted to end Yugi's gaming career out of a petty grudge.

Misato Katsuragi. NGE is great in terms of characterisation, having well-developed characters with believable flaws that mirror reality very effectively. I guess I love Misato 'cause she's almost like a genderswapped me, with tendencies towards harmless fun and a realistic outlook without losing sight of the beautiful things and a desire to protect them.

Rock. He's the most tragic result of today's extreme capitalism; a good-intentioned, intelligent young person with a clear moral conscience weighed down by the corporate world. He's so interesting because I think everyone wants to be like him in some regard, standing up for their sense of justice, but no-one quite wants to be in his situation and face the challenges he faces. Even pre-employment in the Lagoon business.

Sawako. Moe series aren't prone to developing characters that are fun and interesting based on their characterisation alone, but Sawako might be my favourite Ensemble Dark Horse out there. She's good-natured and dedicated to her students, but she generates a lot of internal chaos because of the dissonance between her heavy metal nature and her desire to be seen as socially acceptable and attractive.

Integra Wingates Fairbook Hellsing. Coolest. Name. EVER. The English dub gives her a voice would make me bleed lightning were I cut listening to it. And she's the trigger finger for the world's most power weapon, unafraid to use it and completely able to justify it on an intellectual level. Her force of personality and commanding presence never, ever gets old.

Rossieu. Poor bastard gets a bad rep due to his Lawful Neutral tendencies at a critical moment, but I respect the character immensely. He's incredibly frustrated and knows his personality type won't allow for the Chaotic Good power of his allies to manifest, so he takes the only practical path possible. He's clearly conflicted about all this, and we see the emotional toll his decisions make on himself. Despite this, most of the Western fandom insists on harping on about how evil he was, despite the fact that he was possibly the strongest character in the show; certainly the only one that was willing to make a call where an all-or-nothing outcome wasn't possible in favour of "all".
