Wow, so I binged this over last night (till like 2 in the morning) and finished this afternoon. And I know how you're all saying that the fact that it had to be cut down made it less impacting, but I gotta say...this is one of the best animes I've seen in a long time and I think the first since Pokemon to drive me to stifiling tears.
Relevant:
I don't think anyone outright hated it, it's just that it could've been much better. Like Naoi's arc as a villain was cut wayy too short as well as a lot of other elements.
Mm-hm, yeah, some parts defintely felt compressed.
On another note, I am currently watching the OVA and oh my god stop whatever you're doing right now and watch it because it is amazing
I can't find it in good quality, for some reason. (Including downloads, here.)
I watched it anyway though. It was annoying at first but I was able to barely enjoy it after Kanade showed up.
If people learned from their mistakes, there wouldn't be this thing called bad habits.I just finished watching this like a week ago. There were definitely pacing problems, but it still ended up as an enjoyable story. Also, Naoi is awesome (rhymes with yaoi!).
I'm not getting how Yuri is a Haruhi ripoff, though.
Oh, there's an OVA? Where?
I couldn't conceive a dream so wet; your bongos make me congo.Yuri is a Haruhi ripoff because they have similar voices and look vaguely similar with SOS and SSS as their group names. Tenshi is a Yuki/Rei ripoff because she seems emotionless and has a similar voice.

If people learned from their mistakes, there wouldn't be this thing called bad habits.I'm not sure 'vaguely similar' is enough for it to count as a ripoff. But, maybe that's just me. :/
I couldn't conceive a dream so wet; your bongos make me congo.I don't think so either but it's the only thing I can think of.
If people learned from their mistakes, there wouldn't be this thing called bad habits. The bonus episode is up in 720p on Mazui's tracker and has been for a week or so. They didn't make a blog post announcing this, so I didn't find out myself until yesterday. >_>
I just watched it, as well as the alternate ending. The former was pretty funny. The latter was alright, I guess, but the real ending was better.

I guess it is.I think the alternate ending was really cool. I can't really choose between that and the real ending though.
Actually, the alternate ending and the real one could both have happened, I think.
I don't think it was actually said that Otonashi moved on immediately to the next life or wherever it was he met Kanade again. He might have hung around at the school for a while, perhaps to set up a new SSS to help people move on after he's gone.
Just a thought.
I couldn't conceive a dream so wet; your bongos make me congo. It's too vague to tell. I think it'd work better seperately though.
Wait. Is these or is there not going to be a second season?
Whatcha gonna do, little buckaroo? | i be pimpin' madoka ficsI just finished the series and I really, REALLY, hope so. Random Gush Alert: God! I can't get Otonashi's Say My Name at the last episode out of my head. It's just...so heartrending, but for some reason I think I replayed that scene for got knows how many times.
On the second thought, I think I would prefer a remake, with more explanations on how the Purgatory works and more details on each character's backstory.
I'm a (socialist) professional writer serializing a WWII alternate history webnovel.Oh, and does anyone think that it would be possible to turn the anime into movie? I'm thinking that maybe three movies, with some backstories explored deeply, would do rather well.
I'm a (socialist) professional writer serializing a WWII alternate history webnovel. My god, this is the stupidest idea ever!
Well, just bumping, really.
I'm a (socialist) professional writer serializing a WWII alternate history webnovel. It is however a fairly pointless idea.
What the show needs isn't to be cut down further, it needed either twice the episode or half the cast.
Going for twice the episodes. Maeda said it was his best shit ever, after all. I say 2 cour, we're good.

I'm a (socialist) professional writer serializing a WWII alternate history webnovel.Does anyone know why it got cut from 2 cour to 1?
It was never 2 cour.
You sure? I always had a feeling that it was something of Executive Meddling or something.
I'm a (socialist) professional writer serializing a WWII alternate history webnovel.More likely he just couldn't sell it for more than one.
I guess it is.Bump.

I said at the time and I still think that there's a potential follow-up series of sorts that's basically like Highway to Heaven in the Angel Beats world with Otanashi on a weekly basis guiding the new souls that come to that purgatory and helping them to find fulfillment.
