I am pretty sure, like 90% sure, that the framing story for all the post game/DLC cameos is "timey whimey stuff causes people from the future to appear".

If I recall, Zetta specifically is looking for Petta, who is his time traveling daughter (who joined in the post game proper, a inverse of their statuses in D4). That kinda raises a lot of time travel implications aside from "everyone else is already time travelling". Shrug.

Compared to D3 and D4, the excuse plot of the DD2 post game is rather handwavey, isn't it?

Wait, did Artina ever say she wasn't an angel when she was hanging around Nemo? He's a ghost himself, you'd think he would see another ghost. It's just angels he can't see. I mean, I'll say right now that I think I'd prefer it that way since the war Artina died in looked pretty medieval rather than the present day it should be like, but I'm not sure it really makes sense with what we're told. And there's no way Artina would have been a prinny.

She explicitly said she was an angel, which is why Nemo couldn't see her following him. I used the term "haunting" because, well, that is pretty much what she was doing.

I dunno if it's just me, but the implication I got was that she followed him and watched his descent into madness for the bulk of that 400 years, and Flonne's "discovery" of her was relatively recent in comparison.

Like I said, I think some truly pure and rightous and whatnot people just flat out turn into Angels when they die, without a Prinny inbetween or anything. I think DD2 retconned it so that Laharl's Mom would have become an Angel despite her suicide, but she allowed herself to fall into Prinnydom so that the then unborn Silcily would be born as an Angel instead.

Either way, I blame NIS only worldbuilding when it's convenient for the plot.

Excluding characters that have never popped up in Disgaea to begin with, of course.

Well, I didn't count Laharl since the main cast are usually in the later games as unlockables, just not dlc.

...You know there's only been one game where that was possible for him thus far, right?

Disgaea D2 and the Disgaea 3 handheld. Both had Desco and Fuka, which was good. But no Valzy

...Actually, come to think of it, you could also include Axel if you want to broaden your definitions a bit.

Just beat Elenor in Disgaea 2.

Someone refresh my memory please. In Disgaea 1, generics get a better class tier every (whatever) levels, even when they're still at tier 1. But in subsequent games, you have to have a tier 1 unit reincarnate into a tier 2 unit before you can unlock tier 3, and so on.

Am I right, or is my memory failing me?

Or at least level an entirely different Tier 2 unit altogether, yes.

Though, fortunately, DD2 and the port of D4 mended the system a bit so that tiers don't matter, and even went on to introduce the Promotion mechanic so you could upgrade your units without wasting time reincarnating.

Oh, and we may be getting Disgaea 5 in the west on October 10. Amazon, GameFly and BestBuy has it set as a release date.

Hm. So many characters based (however loosely) on distinguished fictional races, and then Christo just strolls right in with "Dark Priest".

On a more general note, some more perks and upgrades coming up. Though the streaming bonuses sound hilariously awkward.
