@hylarn: i'd assumed the idiom "come back from the war" was in more widespread use. it's just that alice hasn't been really seen since like... hisoutensoku? six years. well, in terms of meaningful appearances instead of showing up in a crowd. and it's weird for such a majorish character. so other the return of other underutilized characters like kourin and mokou seems... yeah

Alice had plenty of appearances already, I wanna see other characters take the spotlight every now and then.

Basically, Touhou is not a series where a character getting some major appearances means that they'll continue getting more major appearances.

The flipside is the excitement of never knowing who'll show up next.

Every main game since SA has had a surprise 'and also!' character.

Scratch that. Even if we could predict somehow that Reimu and Marisa would have the opportunity to choose from mulitple alles, Subtereannean Animism had TWO. I'm pretty sure that Reimu, Aya, Marisa, and Nitori weren't a thing before then.

OK, I think I've spotted patterns in the story mode battle themes in ULiL:

Near as I can tell, Occult a la Carte only plays during Marisa fights.
Bell of the Antipodes is used in the fights against characters who only use their occult spellcards (Nitori, Kokoro, Koishi).
Bamboo Forest in Flames is the theme for Mokou and Shinmyoumaru, the new not-boss characters.
Battlefield of Hanahazama plays at fights taking place over the rift in the barrier.

Wasn't here someone who wanted to post the translated endings for U Li L, images and text and all? Not meaning to rush, but what happened to that?

There didn't seem to be much interest in it, so I stopped. Also, Antimatter never sent me any more of the ending transcripts. I could I could go through the game again and take screenshots of every screen...

Huh? I... thought I did? Maybe something didn't work. Lemme remedy that now.

I see. And that really freakin' sucks, because I'm entirely willing to go through all the game again and take as many screenshots of the endings as you need, but I can't get the game to run in Japanese locale, so all the text is in garbage instead of Japanese.

It's really weird, whenever I try to open U Li L with App Locale, it just kills itself immediately afterwards without doing anything. If there's anything you, or anyone else, know that can help me with this, I'm all ears.

EDIT: Welp, Antimatter showed up, so I guess my help is no longer needed. I'd still appreciate any advice with getting U Li L to run in Japanese, though.

And now I have 12 new messages. Although I just realized that I'd need to play through every route again anyway just to take the screenshots of the images...

I guess this is good timing though, since my hard copy of ULiL just arrived yesterday. I think this is the first time I've ever used the disc drive on my computer.

Japanese locale, run as Administrator, run in XP service pack 3 compatibility mode... And if those 3 things don't work, I'm pretty much tapped for ideas.

Incidentally, while I have the transcripts (And now Clarste should?) it doesn't sound like he has screenshots of the endings, into which the text would need to be edited. I've only got a few (of Koishi's because Satori, obviously.)

So I think he might still need screenies of the endings. When you printscreen, the game actually saves a screenshot in a folder called 'ss' in your ULIL directory, so it shouldn't be hard, but it would save him from having to play through all the paths again.

I suspect the important thing is to get each image at least once (typically several lines appear over each image). Most endings only have a few.

edit: good, it worked (I tried sending them way back as all one big PM, but apparently it didn't go through or something). IIRC you already had Marisa and Kasen? If you still need them let me know and I'll get them to you when I get back in ~8 hours.

I got Marisa and Kasen a while ago, yeah. I just didn't feel any pressure to do Kasen until you sent me the rest and then I forgot about it. I just took the screenshots for Kasen just now.

I think each ending has three images? Maybe more for the more important ones.

Alright-o, managed to make it work by changing the language of non-unicode programs from English to Japanese. So, Clarste, if you wanna some of dem ending screenshots, just say so and I'mma go right ahead.

That'd be extremely helpful. Just take a new picture every time the image changes.

I was super duper interested! Still am! I loved the Marisa one you posted, Clarste; didn't want to bother you about the others, thought you probably already had too much to do. Great to hear the other endings might now happen! They're like Canon FS-Minicomics!

Kasen ending (spoilers):

This is way harder than I thought it'd be, for some reason. Wondering if I should change Mamizou and ???'s text colors on page 2.

So a couple of days ago Twitch Plays Pokemon finished it's run of Touhoumon. Highlights include C Sanae repeatedly fainting to super effective tackles on Route 1, Tokkio becoming the team's major heavy hitter and getting the nickname of Book Jesus, Satori disgusing herself as Kogasa for a good portion of the run due to an interface error, Cirno defeating the dreaded PC, Momji stabing Meiling in the face and sweeping Blaine, Satori sweeping the champion, and Mima was drunk due to another interface error.

Oh, and we got two Touhou remixes out of it. One finished and the other is still being worked on.
