Yes, that's Shinji with Kamina glasses. Works better than most Kamina-glasses photoshops, if you ask me. Probably because it's also a Studio Gainax work.

Man. I don't know if this is a Parody, a Deconstruction, or a Subversion.

But I do know that it is Awesome.

So, the site has updated again, this time with an art montage. Link.

New Info:

  • Images of what appears to be Oswald's castle, complete with stained glass windows of the rabbit himself in what looks like a kingly robe and crown.
  • Stained glass images of other villains present in one artwork.

EDIT: Um, I was wrong. Turns out it is a 3-D platformer, with some 2.5-D action mixed in. Game Informer Scans are here.

Pentadragon:

KILL THE MOUSE, TAKE HIS HOUSE.
I would think that Oswald would actually fit into one of the existing memes. Isn't it sad, Oswald-kun?

Hell, someone draw that. They already did it for Misha.

That side-scrolling bit may not be the same for the whole game, though. A lot of the concept art looked full 3D.

Glad the Blot's the villain, he's one of my favorite villains and even if he was just a lackey, he'd steal the spotlight anyway, but I prefer him as a villain.

I can't find the stained glass with villains in it, where is it?

And it looks like we might get gameplay soon.

I'm also glad Oswald's not actually the villain; he's too similar to Mickey to outright oppose him.

I just found out we already have a page for the game, with a respectably sized trope list considering it's cobbled together from the tidbits we've been shown.

Also, the music track in that one video sounds almost Elfman-esque.

Etheru: The stained glass windows are at around 50 seconds in. Maleficent is clearly displayed, and I think I see Captain Hook and Scar as well.

I really like that this game doesn't have Black-and-White Morality. Oswald's ticked at Mickey, but is opposed to the Phantom Blot, Mickey Mouse is the one to release the Phantom Blot—albeit on accident, and even the freaky Beetleworx are just maintenance robots (or, so the article claims...).

Found the stained glass, a hint of what is to come?

The game doesn't look too grim right now, but it probably will get more Grim looking sooner or later.

Scar and Hook? Honestly, I'm not seeing it. In fact one of them looks like Snow White to me.

I'm actually looking forward to this, partly because I like dark retellings of kid stuff, and also because it has nothing to do with all that "Tweenie" bullcrap Disney seems to be so in love with these days.

And while I normally don't play too many video games, I may even give this a try.

The game looks, quite franly, to be awesome. I'm especially happy that The Mad Doctor is returning, seeing as he's from one of the darkest Mickey cartoons made way back when.

I watched the short on Youtube, it was pretty creepy.

I wonder if Mickey will acknowledge that he was just a dream in the original short.

I have a feeling that the levels will get creepier as the game goes on...

So, the Game Informer website's been updated twice:

  • An interview with Warren Spector, which reveals why he chose the Wii for this game, and that he's interested in doing a Duck Tales game.
  • An analysis of four in-game screenshots which reveals some mechanics of the game.

Love the "it's a small world" imagery. I recognize some very specific design elements from the ride, such as the Japanese fans.

Interesting interview, though I'd really like to know his thoughts on how the Kingdom Hearts series handled Mickey.

I get the feeling he either knows nothing about KH except what he's garnered from reviews and ads, or he hates the franchise and so went out of his way to avoid mentioning his feelings. It's almost certain that the KH influence will make the video game market receptive to a game starring a heroic and badass Mickey Mouse.

He probably wouldn't have liked it due to the fact Mickey, while a Bad Ass, was much the same as many of the current, friendlier incarnations.
