Minecraft, at least to me, stuck out with the fact that you could literally make a portal to the Nether at any given location and have it zip you into another dimension just like that. Well, just have a Herobrine portal malfunction and zip him into another world and see what happens.

Although, if you think it's too easy, stupid, and lazy to just have a portal malfunction, you're right. There will be blood, there will be actual drama, and there will be adventure. Light hearted, yet slightly serious fic.

After seeing my Kindle publishing royalties report today... and seeing that it's like most months... and realizing "I think only three people have bought my book EVER" ....

I feel like self-promoting. I have not the means or the know-how to do it professionally (you know, in the way that sells one's books). Unfortunately, I am on my own here. I try online, but it seems like all those people on other message boards I've gone to who say "Ooh, Shadsie, I just loooove your fanfiction, I can't wait for you to publish one of your originals" kind of... lied? Forgot about that? Really were only interested in fan work and wanted to pretend they were interested in "higher" things?

I would have made a Tropes page for it if I wasn't too shy. I'm fine with making pages for my fanfictions, but actual novels are something I'd rather other people start troping, rather than inflating my ego (especially over something no one seems to care about - except that one reviewer. That was left by someone I vaguely know from a message board who told me they left that, so it's an actual honest review).

My fiance' handles a lot of stuff with it... since he knows the technical stuff with the system better and is less prone to screaming at machines when a system gets frustrating. I think he put the book on a borrow-lender service there. There's some new, similar service being offered that I need to talk with him about/ask about. If one of those other borrowing-lending type services is what would entice you to read the thing and you don't see AWORD listed, let me know. Making money would be helpful to our ability to buy groceries and stuff, but I'm really more interested in people reading my work and being interested in it than making money.

From what I see on the sales page, I suggest you lower the price. $5.99 is a lot for a 84-page book from an unknown self-pub author. 2.99 is more reasonable, or even lower if you don't mind lower royalties. See if that triggers some sales.

Also, are you writing another story to publish? A lot of the time, it can take a few books until you see progress.

I recommend that you consult Reddit's /r/selfpublish. If you're lucky, someone will give you a good breakdown on how you can get more sales on your book.

I thought was a standard price. I fear that lowering the price might make people think "lower quality," but I may do that. I'll have to discuss that with my guy, since managing our publishing is a dual-thing with us. (He has his own projects I help with, though they're currently un-launched pending illustration-work). I was pretty sure my guy put it up on the lending/library system, plus it goes on special every once in a while. I can't even seem to get people to look at it when it's on special for 99 cents on a countdown meter. I think most of my problem is that I don't know how to advertise or self-promote, nor do I have friends in high places.

In fact, one is scheduled and TOMORROW it will be 99 cents. So, if you're interested in it for a buck's worth, act on July 23. - (And if you miss it, it goes through these regularly).

I'd join the Colbert Nation and squawk to see if I could get the Colbert Bump —- if I were brave. I'm not.

Reddit. No. I don't do Reddit. I think I've only ever even looked in on that place once and all of the rumors I hear about that place makes me kind of afraid of it. (I'm afraid if I walk into Reddit, I'm walking into a war-zone, what with how people talk about the place).

Since we're pretty much one and done with XCOM, I got the idea to reuse it if we ever get to doing a Weird War 2 dieselpunk shoot. I already have an Ike jacket with SSR insignia and the idea to build a plasma rifle that will be powered by the backpack. If I don't find any use for my HYDRA uniform. That is only half-done, I'm in talks with a friend of mine to build a mechanical-looking left hand, metallic-looking collar and glowing chest piece, I'll also mod the mask to have a camera-like left eye. Maybe even with Frickin' Laser Beams.
