Generally, expect the following from this thread:
- People announcing their departure or return.
- Moderators announcing a significant forum ban — not trolls or vandals, but someone people will notice and miss.
- Inquiries about an absent troper.
- Responses to inquiries about an absent troper.

My guess is it was johnnyfog again, a serial ban evader. But I would ask this in Ask The Tropers to double check before anything. Maybe it was reported and erased. I dunno.

Oh, I liked Johnnyfog, was waiting for him to become active again.
Not surprised that he was banned, seemed like a personality type that would clash with the majority user base. I just figured I'd have come across some complaints/celebrations if a ban was the reason for his absence.

Most bans happen without any fanfare or publicity, unless you follow the Edit Banned thread. Bet there are a dozen or so tropers that keep it on their watchlists.

I know I keep it on my watchlist to keep an eye on if anyone I know gets banned, and it also keeps me refreshed on policies.

Same here. It's a mix of "who's been banned for what?" and "what not to do" for me.
I dropped it when it got locked for use only by mods and the actually banned, and became much less engaging/entertaining.

See I find it more interesting. Some for selfish reasons (I've watch a few people get banned with pure vindication) and some just because it's cleaner. It's quick and to the point with no wrap around. And it gives me a refresher on how the wiki works every time!
