#REHASH was very hit and miss, it had a few funny moments, but for the most part, I don't enjoy Lets Plays. The whole Lorde part was alright, but for the most part, this episode was hit and miss, but was still better then Season 11.

Is it just me, or is South Park getting really geeky lately?

As for the episode, eh, it's fine, I guess. I never saw the appeal of watching Let's Play either. I mean, I'll gladly watch a Total War match on Heir Of Carthage's channel, but an actual let's play? Barely ever.

But yeah, episode, episode. It very much has a "first half" feel to it, and doesn't quite work as a standalone. Half the fun of South Park is the pay-off at the end, and there just isn't any here. I'll gladly watch what they have set up for next week, but this week was a wash.

I didn't hate it as much as I thought I would, mostly because the subplot saved it. Also, bless Shelley for being the one kid on this show who consistently acts her age.

Speak of the devil, wild mass guessShelley has known all along that Randy is Lorde.wild mass guess I think that's why she was particularly devastated by that performance.

I'm still not exactly sure what a Pew Die Pie is, but from the gist I get, damn, it's annoying.

Pewdiepie is the shit, man. You should watch him play either Amnesia. Guy takes pants-wettingly horrid solitary survival horror and makes it hilarious.

No, if you were a gamer, you would find it hideous. Let's Plays are very much for people who can't be assed to play the games themselves, especially the more technically challenging ones, which are the ones that self-styled gamers love.

This is some of his early stuff...

[up]In that case, then I'm with Kyle. What's the point of watching somebody else play the game? Has society really gotten that lazy?

[up]Well, there are a few cases where I can kind of see the point. Like when a game is notoriously bad, and you want to see what the fuzz is all about without buying a game you know is bad. Like MS T3k.

There are also some games where it's hard to know where to start, or can be easily frustrating to find a good game. One example is Happy Wheels, where Sturgeon's Law applies to levels who say "Rate 5 lol!" and constant references to Pewdiepie. Markiplier makes a good commentary when he plays that since he picks levels at random and makes the best out of each of them.

"Has society really gotten that lazy?" Seriously? Does this seem to you like a matter of laziness? Are people who listen to audiobooks instead of reading the book themselves being lazy? What about sports spectators? Heck, spectators of any kind?

One watches let's plays to watch the interaction between the interesting and entertaining characters that play the game and the game itself. Or maybe they actually don't have the free time to play the game, and want to experience the story; I haven't played Spec Ops The Line, because I find shooters tedious, but it made for an awesome three-hour movie to watch.

As I said before, I'm not really a gamer. That's why I don't understand the appeal. I do know that I would rather play the few games I do enjoy myself instead of watching somebody else do it. Then again, said games don't really have stories, which would make those videos really boring.

That's kind of the point though. Let's Players make up their own interpretation.

I guess I'm just old-fashioned. I think that playing the game yourself should be priority number one.

Last night's episode was a mess. Once again, they tried to cram too many topical references into a single episode. And as a result, we never got to see the the things I was looking forward to the most: the aftermath of Sharon sleeping with the 2Pac hologram and Shelley's reaction to Randy being Lorde (we only saw Randy telling her, we never saw how she felt about it).

Well, I managed to see the last two episodes a while back.

So Trey and Matt actually got Pew Die Pie to appear in the show? Talk about recognition.

Overall, it was a fine ending, if very weird in the end. Only thing I didn't get was the #ihatecartmanbrah thing. Where'd that come from?

I guess my only major gripes were that it's only 10 episodes, and I was kinda hoping they'd do a little In Memoriam thing for Robin Williams note . After all, he did sing Blame Canada when it was nominated for an Oscar.

[up]The #ihatecartmanbrah was, well, Cartman's thing trending. And then trendscendence... or something. As far as Robin Williams go, they did have a nod to him with the mention of his hologram being on the holiday special, unless I'm misremembering.

I'm almost disappointed nobody pointed out his name had "man bra" in it.

[up] I might be reading this wrong, but wait, so even though it's #ihatecartmanbrah, does that mean Cartman's totally ok with people dissing his thing because just the mere mention of "Cartman Brah" counts as a trend?

Huh.

You know, it kinda bites that this season was only 10 episodes long, I was kinda hoping they'd have Wendy at the very least plotting to get back at Kim Kardashian. And I would've love to see the show take a stab at that big Sony leak phenomena and the canceling of the release of The Interview.

Bump.

Well guys, if my understanding is correct, the new season of South Park is airing tonight.

Anyone hoping Matt and Trey will take a stab at how crappy Konami has been with Hideo Kojima and to gamers overall at some point in the season?

Eh, they've done enough nerd-baiting lately. Besides, it's not like there isn't enough material in the current political climate.

I just looked it up: Yes, there's a new South Park episode tonight. It involves Principle Victoria and Caitlyn Jenner.

So it could be good.

[up]

(Googles Caitlyn Jenner. Finds Wikipedia page.)

Oh, she's an Olympic athlete...when she was Bruce Jenner. And she recently converted from guy to girl this year...like just 3 months ago...

o_o

I'm not saying I'm prejudice to transsexuals. I'm just worried how Matt and Trey will handle this. Because IIRC, the last time they had a male person who converted into a girl in the show, the backlash was pretty bad...
