Looks like we got an answer to what happened to the Pixar comics: Marvel's picked up the license http://www.comicbookresources.com/?page=article&id=30875

I swear, if they don't finish the storyline in The Incredibles...

I'm much more of a Duck Dude than a Mouse Man, but this is quite the sexy video.

So, was watching The Incredibles bonus features and going through those NSA super files and had one of those "Adding Joker lips on an old photo in Mask Of The Phantasm" moments.

There's a super in there called Psycwave, who had mind-control and telepathic powers. She was supposedly killed during the early Omnidroid testing and was on a team being lead by the very super whose brain is being used in the villainous plot in the comics. Both supers were done in by the same Omnidroid model. And the writers have said Mezmerella has some tragic past...

This has only served to aggravate me more that the Incredibles comic is now in limbo.

Bumping. In November, Boom's done with Disney comics period, ending with a crossover between Duck Tales and Darkwing Duck. The classic lines have already ended and Rescue Rangers ended last month at 8 issues.

I'm really hoping Marvel will pick up on this.

Have to say my favorite Barks story is also the first one I ever read, which I believe is called "The Truant Officer."

[up] WHAT, WHAT WHAT? ULTRA AWESOME!

MARVEL, IF YOU HAVE ANY OUNCE OF SENSE, YOU'LL CONTINUE THIS SERIES WITH THIS CREATIVE TEAM!

So of course, you never will.

[up] Yeah He's the corrupt campaign manager of one of the mayoral candidates and actually created the villains of this arc with an inky substance infected with a Hate Plague. Plus looking at the cover of the final issue of the Duck Tales crossover, seems he may stick around a little after this

[up] ... Inky substance? That gives me major Epic Mickey vibes.

[up] Duck Tales 5 is out today and yeah, this arc is pretty much looking like the climax of Epic Mickey, but with the Ducks and the regular Blot. Also, the enhanced ink/slime is mutating the landscape and just enhances the powers of villains demonstrated with Megavolt's electronic gear becoming more Tesla-y and the Beagle Boys fusing into a Multi-Armed and Dangerous Multiple Head Case

Lot of happenings going on recently:

IDW is picking up the classic Disney titles

http://www.theouthousers.com/index.php/news/129306-nycc-14-idw-disney-team-up-to-re-publish-comics.html

And the Darkwing Duck comic book is coming back with a revised omnibus edition of the Boom series 1-16 and a new ongoing that'll start off with a completely reworked version of Dangerous Currency.

Marvel's Disney Kingdoms line is doing Big Thunder Mountain as their third title and has come out to say that they are a shared universe and the links will become more apparent over time

The Darkwing news makes me very happy because I missed out on that series the first time it ran.

And while the Artist Editions are always cool, I can't help but hope that one day, Barks' stories get Essential/Showcase Presents-style reprints, with the large page counts, B&W newsprint, and low price tag. The Fantagraphics volumes look nice (and seem to be the easiest ways to get the stories), but I kinda wish there was a cheaper alternative.

If you want really good Mickey Mouse stories, dig up the collections of Floyd Gottfriedson's Mickey Mouse comic strips. It's rather a different Mickey than you're used too, if Ll you've read is more recent stuff.

IDW having picked up the license for Disney comics and resumed production, I think we can reasonably decide to revive this thread. (And since its first purpose was to see who on T Vtropes was a Disney Comics fan, well, hello there ! I am !) Any thoughts ?

[up] I'm glad somebody has, but given that Disney owns Marvel, one wonders why they'd license their properties and not just use the established Marvel structure.

You know what, maybe someone can help me out on a question...

Exactly what's going on with these Disney IDW comics? They used to be stories only the other countries had (IIRC, Italy and/or France were crazy for Uncle Scrooge and Donald Duck stories?) but now they're coming to the States translated into English and made just as fun through the magic of Woolseyism?

Pretty much.

What confuses me is, why did the licenses split between IDW and Joe's Comics instead of going to a single publisher?

given that Disney owns Marvel, one wonders why they'd license their properties and not just use the established Marvel structure.

Marvel's director has outright said they don't want to publish Disney comics.

I suppose they've got a wealth of material that they can import and translate, given that, to my knowledge, Disney comics have never been out of print outside the US.

So since 2018, Fantagraphics has published the "Disney Masters" collection series, which collects comics by different comic creators. This is a great opportunity to finally read comics that haven't been published outside of the Nordic countries, the Netherlands, France or maybe Italy. I'm eagerly waiting for Cèsar Ferioli to receive his own volume, imo he's one of the best Disney comic artists, if not the best. He's clearly learned from the best. His art is full of emotion as well as dynamic motion, and it's all on-model, making his comics look as good as the animated films. In comparison to him the Italian comics, and the Ducktales reboot, all look wonky and overrated.

What artists would you like to see highlighted in the series?

Should we create a thread for the Disney dynamite comics?

So I have read the newest comic, "Hercules" and looks rather good, a nice continuation from the Moive. Seems to be the same artist who did Gargoyle comic.

So Hercules has decide to take his hero work seriously. However Zeus is dissapontied in Hercules decision to be mortal which has driven a wedge between father and Son. He is then called by Aphrodite to deal with a problem she created by brining a staue to life. The synopsis for the next 2 issues implies there are a lot of divine 'quests' coming up. So Hercules and Meg go after this supposed monster only to find it not a monster but Galatea, the statue brought to life, and the destruction she caused was simply just the joy of being alive, distraction and not knowing her superstrength, actually the only damage she does before Hercules attacks her was comicly crush Pygg because she loves hugs and smash throw a wall, turns out she was going to get doctor before getting side tracked by cute goats. After learing she sweet hearted with little controle over her great strength, much like himself, Hercules decides not the destroy her instead going to Aphrodite temple to ask for to be spared, only to find she has been kidnapped!

Given that Hercules can be called the Superman Mythos with a greek twist/flavour, I would compar Galatea to Kara/Supergirl

Sincerely S Awatching.

[up] Hold up, didn't Kara have a clone named Galatea in Justice League Unlimited?

Also, the Hercules TV show isn't brought up to any capacity, is it? Because I distinctly remember an episode where Herc had Aphrodite bring a statue to life and said statue went into yandere mode like fast.

[up] Yeah, and that statue was named Galatea. The Hades comic had its own versions of Icarus, Arachne, Jason, Medea, Medusa, and Orpheus, so I think the show is noncanon.

I wonder if we'll see Hecate.

[up] Huh I had for gotten about that makes my comparison very ironic.

From what I have read so far it seems that the gods are taking on a bit more of there myth jerkness. Though given the moive, nothing as grime as the actual myths, just a not thinking about how there actions would impact the mortal world.

Sincerely S Awatching.
