In Exalted, the Daystar is the name of the chariot of the sun god, who also happens to be the king of the gods and more or less the god of being awesome and heroic. It has a Kill Sat and knows magic kung-fu.

See?

I don't blame Chisame for not daring it. If there's a name to run away from really, really fucking fast, it's anything that ends in "the Daystar".

I'm afraid I can't really talk on how a Chisame who has always known about the paranormal would be like, since I haven't ever tried to do that, and indeed I haven't ever given it too much thought. To me, Chisame's charm largely relies on how she discovers and adapts to the existence itself of the abnormal; if she already knew about those things, you've gotta find yourself a whole new anchoring point for her arc, and that sort of redefines her enough as to make most considerations on her canon self largely irrelevant.

For what it matters, Unequally Chisame knows, like everyone else, about 'explainable by science' abnormal phenomena like aliens, mutants and other superpowered beings and tech based superheroes-villains, and she's largely unenthusiastic about them and just wishes they'd go away. When she's watching Nabeshin's really wacky sci-fi movie with the cheerleaders, Asuna, Misa and Satomi, most of her attention is caught by the fancy clothes rather than the plot. (She had read Internet spoilers on it, but I mostly thought of it as her having Internet Super OCD forcing her to try and read even on things that normally don't interest her. I'm kind of the same, actually). I'm not saying she can't be an otaku in a parallel reality, but that's not really how I wrote her. She'd probably keep herself up to date with actresses and other stars and how they dress up for reference and fad-following, but I didn't ever want to have her as pop-culture obsessed enough beyond the 'socially accepted' basics, like making Terminator and Frankenstein references on Chachamaru.

"'Socially accepted' basics"... Now there is a phrase that I never would've thought of in the context of otaku pop culture.

Eh, once Tolkien was widely thought as hopeless nerd stuff by most of society, yet six high grossing movies later, it's okay for anyone to know who Legolas is. It happens.

Heck, game of Thrones would have been too nerdy for TV, no matter how much blood, sex and nudity happen. They'd have said it promoted satanism and the D&D agenda!

@Eva Rik called it first, but I do agree with him. That sounded right to me as well.

...

Someone, probably Eva Unit, needs to write a shot called Joestar the Daystar. No idea why, but it sounds funny.

...

I am still surprised at how popular Game of Thrones is. I remember teasing the gang of misfits I hung out with at the bookstore/gamestore when they were complaining about how long it took between books.

Does other countries (including Japan) also have daylight savings, or is that a USA-only thing?

If we're being technical, not all the states actually observe it. Arizona and most other US territories don't partake in DST. As for the rest, I'm pretty sure Canada and Europe also have it but don't quote me on that. Its mostly a western thing that people use now. I know for a fact that Japan doesn't. Or at least, not anymore.

Argentina used to do it. But now we don't anymore. 'Cuz people kept forgetting to do it. I'm sure there's some other bullshit reason given, but the truth is that people just kept forgetting to adjust their clocks so Daylight Savings was more harmful than it was beneficial.

So the heroines are just running late on their own merits, then. Okay.

@Uber He seems to be doing fine, now. He's back to work on RT and he's started getting more opportunities at his job. No word yet on a therapist, but I guess my threat of hating him forever if he did kill himself stuck in.

That's good.

As for Daylight Savings, my country doesn't observe it, but it afects me, as I work on New York Time.

Could be worse. German Standard Time does/did double Daylight Savings for a few hundred years. They might still be doing it, I'm not sure.

Reminds me of when I imagined a scenario for my One Piece-style Negima fic, in which our dear precocious pirate captain suffers a horrible hours-long case of diarrhea from some exotic dish (I imagine it to be curry-based) that the crew had gotten from a port town, and which turned to be horribly allergogenic to his bowels (and only his; everyone else had much milder reactions at the worst). You could hear the poor boys agony from anywhere on the ship.

And apparently, the... uh, "results" were deemed a major biohazard by Hakase, Chao and Ako, and henceforth that dish was permanently banned on the pain of Cruel And Unusual Punishment.
