![]() As you know (and if you don't know, you should know, but now you know) we have a PM system here at the forums, which allows for conversation about private things or to avoid said conversation to mess with the flow of X or Y thread. Among the advantages of such feature, is the fact that there is a warning on the top of the screen whenever you get a PM, which is perfect to call your attention.
Having all the obvious statements stated, I'll move on to the suggestion.
As you might know, you can only send P Ms to forum users, and the New PM Warning will only display when in the forum. This could be a waste of potential of a tool that could facilitate communication in the whole wiki. Right now, the only way we have to contact another editor that doesn't use the forum is via Edit Reasons or leaving a comment in their contributor/discussion page and hope that they read it. If P Ms were extended to the whole Wiki, whenever there was a need to contact a user (for troublesome edits, or pertinent discussion of any sort), the PM warning would make sure that said contributor gets the notice as soon as he enters the wiki again, making communication faster, and therefore helping solve problems and improving the wiki faster.
Of course, I'm not sure if this is implementable at all, but it would be a nice addition.

I support this proposal.
Where would the PM button go though? On a contributor's page?
![]() Probably.

![]() This would be very useful, convenient, and nice to have.
![]() HERE!
But it's a bit of a tall order, don't you think?
![]() Could be done another way, by creating a way to enter the troper's name into a TO: field on the PM page. I have no idea how difficult that would be.
If I had a piece of chalk, I'd work it out on a wall, if I had a wall.
![]() Useless Hero Mobenoma.
Could the message warnings Wikipedia has for when someone posts on your talk page be implemented?
Never borrow a pen. Always use your own pen, especially when in public signing credit card receipts, etc... germs cling to them.
also- wash your hands you filthy pigs.
:)
^ Something like that would be ideal.
I agree this would be a great thing to have, even if I have no idea how practical it would be to implement.
![]() chemistry dork
It is on the list. Great idea, really. It won't bother Unknowns and will help the Knowns.
Just got to make the time to do it.
The system doesn't know you right now, so no post button for you.
You need to Get Known to get one of those.
