Roll To Dodge: Savral Turn 150

First time posts for this session require you to state a race and class of a Dnd/Fantasy RPG variety. This is an RTD with some continuity and I want to make sure you don't show up with space-themed stuff when that doesn't fit with the general theme. I also recommend reading through my previous posts to get a sense of how I run things and some of the things you don't want to do. You'll also get a sense of the stuff that's going on by doing so.

Undying Phoenix (6): You try summoning forth Gandalf the Grey. A black summoning circle appears a few feet in front of you as you begin the ritual, and you feel yourself being drained of energy. A portal appears in the center, and out from it rises Gandalf, except he seems to be wearing a set of black robes, sunglasses, and a golden unicorn pendant. He pulls out a pair of machine guns, aimed toward you. Gandalf the Black has appeared. Furthermore, you seem to have been deprived of your summoning slots for the time being.
Blackie (3,2): You start crawling through the forest toward the smoke and try attacking a tree. Your claws just barely go through the bark. From your position, you can see what appears to be a wooden palisade near the smoke.
BC The Entity (4):    I have not regained enough of my powers to grant you that kind of boon. The power that resides in that weapon has been refined for millennium to combat the magic used by the usurper witch. Use it wisely.

At this moment, you look at your globe once more to find Qal-Andu, which resides to the east of your position. Within this territory, you see blotches of land that are labeled “Stannis.” Furthermore, you see a dot labeled "The Witch Grimhilde."

You then ask some of the orcs if they would like to accompany you on your adventure. One of them says, "Liberate? Hmph! What strange words you would use to describe those who have been our enemies for centuries! There is still much work to be done for when the other clans of Ixal arrive at this city. But if you believe now would be the time to strike into that heathen kingdom of the east, well, perhaps some of us would welcome that opportunity."

Philsopher (3): You exit the library and then head back to the place where you came out of the portal. Remembering which portal you came out of, you go back through that specific portal, back at the pillar site. Now, you just need to travel all the way back to the city.
Jondanger 23 (6,2,4,6): You try becoming invisible, but unfortunately, doing this has somehow robbed you of your eyesight. You try stumbling around in the dark to try to sense where things are, but you trip over and fall. You then hear something whoosh through the air, and two blade-like objects plunge into you from behind. Furthermore, the ground starts to crumble as you hear a third blade crash into it.
Cyberse (6,4,5,2,6;2): You look around for your opponent. You see a pink-haired, brown-winged woman in some sort of light-blue priestess’s outfit floating in midair, holding onto an oversized scythe. While human-looking, her face seems to be made out of some rotting bark-like material. She also seems to be wearing a wide-brimmed hat and, golden chains, and a unicorn necklace.    You have engaged the Witch Louise.

"Kihihihihihihihi… Your soul looks really yummmy! I must have it for myself! KYAHAHAHAHA!!! AHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!"

She suddenly whooshes down toward you, flash-steps as soon as you try preparing for her attack, and then slices you in two. As she glides by, you manage to cut through one of her legs. Under her cloak, you can see roughly twelve arms hiding underneath. One of those arms pulls out a chain-axe and throws it right into the middle of your forehead, upon which you grab hold of the chain, use it to get close, and then stab the woman in the face. She seems to be bleeding.

   "No! MY PERFECT FACE!"

At that moment, eight massive tentacles shoot out of the ground and grab hold of you and pry you off. You try to shake free but they grab onto you tight. While you’re held up, the woman sweeps around and chops your head off. As your head flies through the air, you whoosh by the woman’s wings and bite hard.

   "EYAAAA!!! IT HURTS!"

The witch rapidly flaps her wings, flinging you off. As you’re still biting down, the top of your head becomes detached from your jaw. As you’re flying through the air once again, you see the massive tentacles absorb the rest of your body’s moisture. Louise begins to glow.

You eventually land somewhere on the sands below. Somewhere, you hear someone’s fingers snap, and the back of your skull sprouts scorpion-like legs. A number of beetles gather near your position. You aren’t sure what they’re doing here, but they seem to be following you around wherever you strut in your weakened form. For whatever reason, Louise doesn’t seem to realize you’re still alive, if undead.

Yoloisfox (6): You chase after Gavin and Edgar into the woods. As you trail Edgar’s tracks, the sky seems to become darker overhead. Furthermore, the trees begin to lose their leaves. You eventually come upon a dilapidated wooden shack in the middle of the woods, where you find Edgar impaled on the ground and Gavin’s bow lying nearby. Another series of footsteps leads up to the front door to the shack. As you look around the place, you notice a well around the back end of the shack, a small but withered farm plot, and a storage shed. There seems to be a number of skeletons lying on the ground.

Fair enough, to both sides. I think just accepting what the God says will do for the time being... meanwhile, the orcs apparently consider the land of Qal-Andu to be heathenistic. I don't care, but there's a witch there that probably needs dealing with, and I say as much to the orcs: "You don't like witches, I'm now a crusader against most witches, there's a witch being a, cough, witch over there. If you want to overwhelm whatever kingdom lies to the East with your forces once the witch is dealt with, be my guest; I just need to complete this quest, and so far as I can see, the sooner, the better." Once it's been established which orcs still want to accompany me, I teleport myself and those orcs over to Qal-Andu, ideally close-but-not-too-close to Grimhilde so that we can keep an eye on her activities for a moment without being seen, and then get the drop on her if she turns out to be one of those sociopathic murderhobo witches. I bet she is.

I was once a boy... but now, I am a man. Or at least old enough to know better, anyway.

Roll To Dodge: Savral Turn 151

First time posts for this session require you to state a race and class of a Dnd/Fantasy RPG variety. This is an RTD with some continuity and I want to make sure you don't show up with space-themed stuff when that doesn't fit with the general theme. I also recommend reading through my previous posts to get a sense of how I run things and some of the things you don't want to do. You'll also get a sense of the stuff that's going on by doing so.

Black Mage Anolis (5): Honestly, I wasn’t really sure how to respond to your post, so I just went with this. You step off the rock and try to explain your early days in the “Hardan Empire,” even though you have never been there. The humans seem to look at you with confusion.

"Hardan Empire?"

"The hell is a keet?"

"So… You’re obviously not from around here, or anywhere for that manner. Would you like to accompany us to the next town over. Maybe the mayor could explain things better for you."

"You look like you could be some mage. Maybe he’ll find some use for you."

Jondanger 23 (1,4,4,5): You try making yourself un-invisible, but you feel yourself explode from the inside. You feel the poke of a lance strike through one of your arms, but it deflects off. Two more strikes go into your head, and you soon lose consciousness.    You died.    Respawn?
Blackie (6): You slowly crawl up to the palisade with your scrawny crab legs. Once you get right up next to it, you pinch your claws into one of the logs. Despite the log being at least four times wider than your body, you snap it in half, causing it to fall to the ground. From within the encampment you hear the blaring of a war horn, along with screaming. A number of shade guards wielding sabers and cylindrical shields with golden crescents begin to surround you.

"Is that a crab?"

"It looks like it has a werewolf’s head."

Cyberse (5): You begin climbing back up the massive mountain slope to try and follow and observe the Witch Louise. After a few seconds, she seems to disappear from plain sight, but you can see a trace of eldritch magic where she once was. You don’t quite understand why, but you get the feeling that the method Louise used to travel here involved traversing through higher dimensions superimposed onto this world. You consider that it might be possible to find out where she went by conjuring a portal at the site where she disappeared, but something tells you that trying to follow her would likely lead to a quick death, should you ever be unlucky enough to have her spot you.

But still, for the time being, you watch the spot of eldritch magic to see if it does anything. For a split second, you see Louise’s form hovering several yards away from the spot. The world around seems to be a dark, bloody-reddish color. You see an artery-like cord extend from under her robe up towards the sky. About a mile or two up, you see the cord split into four. Higher up, you see four huge unicorn heads high up into space, attached to a bloating, beating, tumor-like structure with eight tentacles stretching out to infinity. The four cords stretch and flatten out into the tongues of unicorn heads, each of which seems to be staring at you. Each of the eight tentacles has innumerable heads attached to them like warts, and when you look at them, you hear a faint screaming, with blood running from their empty sockets.

This is Louise. Following her probably isn’t a good idea at the moment.

The world begins to fade back to normal, and the abomination lurking in the sky disappears from view, and you hear many of the shades up above become bewildered at your disappearance. The dung beetles continue to follow you for whatever reason.

Yoloisfox (2): No, Edgar was your friend. There’s no way you’d ever eat him.

From within the shack, you hear Gavin shout out, "Bloody hell! Somebody get me out of here!"

BC The Entity (2,4): After you speak, the orcs decide who amongst them will accompany you to the lands of Qal-Andu. About ten orcs choose to join you. Four orc skirmishers with javelins, hide shields, and spears; three orc archers; two orc shamans; and one unarmed orc with a tattoos all over him. You then attempt to teleport them all to the lands beyond.

You then find yourself and your party in some sort of cavern with a small tunnel entrance up ahead, with some sort of small white orb hanging overhead. Based on your wizard skills, you get the feeling that this is some sort of seeing-eye orb, and you’ll probably be detected if you get within range of this thing without destroying it first. From this direction, you hear the repetitive clanging of metal on metal. A small spiral ramp ascends to a higher level within this cut-out cylindrical chamber. On the left side of this place, you see some sort of pulley-operated lift mechanism along with a lever next to it. On the higher level, a platform extends out to accept things from this lift, and you see another lever and a minecart next to it.

Undying Phoenix (6); Gandalf the Black (3,3,5): You dive out of the way as Gandalf fires his machine guns overhead. You keep running and running, but Gandalf manages to shoot you in your lower left calf muscle along with your stomach. You now seem to be bleeding profusely.

Still, you eventually manage to escape somewhere into the mountains. You see a number of mineshaft entrances around the area, but you can also see Gandalf still approaching. Furthermore, you see a small stone tower on top of one of the nearby mountains.

Philosopher (1): You don’t really feel like walking, so you decide to expend one of your teleport scrolls to get to the city. Only, just before that happens, it starts glowing a faint octarine hue. You find yourself absorbed in some sort of black-hole-like octarine sphere as the scroll disintegrates in front of you.

You now find yourself in a dark, dank dungeon behind bars. Numerous elven skeletons lie on the ground in and out of the chamber. There seems to be residue of dried up blood on the ground. One of the skeletons seems to be chained on a cross-like stand. A number of octarine torches light up the dungeon from outside. As of now, you don’t know whether the cell doors are locked or unlocked.

Ah, this seems good. I tell the orcs to stay put for the moment (and make a mental note to keep an eye on the shaman-looking one, just in case he explodes into eldritch moisture-sucking tentacles), then check my globe again, zooming in enough that I can hopefully see which direction Grimhilde is in within this cavern. Having done that... well, it occurs to me that sending anything at the orb will likely allow its owner to establish that a threat is located within her caverns. If at all possible, I try to make my way toward Grimhilde, orc party and all, without going anywhere near that orb; if that isn't possible, or if I encounter similar orbs whilst moving in a different or even the same direction, I instead attempt to disable the orb or orbs in as stealthy a manner as possible, with the ideal outcome being that, rather than outright turning off and being a suspicious loss of input for the owner, affected orbs instead report their surroundings as normal, such that myself and my party can sneak past them undetected. Complex, admittedly, but theoretically doable... I hope.

Is that act of masking the input from the orbs something I can use my Battlefield Control roll on? It seems like a method of controlling a battlefield, anyway, even if we're not technically in battle yet.

EDIT: Actually, I don't know if I mentioned this before, but my class seems to be misspelled as "Wizerd", and has in fact been misspelled like that for a while now. Is that intentional, or no?

Roll To Dodge: Savral Turn 152

First time posts for this session require you to state a race and class of a Dnd/Fantasy RPG variety. This is an RTD with some continuity and I want to make sure you don't show up with space-themed stuff when that doesn't fit with the general theme. I also recommend reading through my previous posts to get a sense of how I run things and some of the things you don't want to do. You'll also get a sense of the stuff that's going on by doing so.

BC The Entity (3): You tell the orcs to stay put and watch the shaman. You take a look at your globe. Grimhilde is somewhere northeast of your position, but the orb doesn’t give you any information on the layout of the cavern. You’re probably going to have to go past the orb to get to her, as the other passage seems to be going in a westerly direction.

Either way, you step up to the corner near the orb and perform an illusion spell to apply a masking image of the surrounding area over the orb’s input. A slight glow fills throughout the area and channels into the seeing eye orb. You aren’t sure how successful it is, but you figure that it might have done the trick. You lead the orcs through the tunnel in which the orb is residing. It doesn’t seem to make any sudden changes due to your presence, and as you reach the end of the small cylindrical tunnel, you see its pupil idly scanning about the area, seemingly unaware of your presence.

At the end of the tunnel, you come across an even larger pair of tunnels running perpendicular to the one you just exited. You see two railroad tracks running through them, with the metal clinking coming from the left. A series of stone columns hold up the tunnel ceiling, and you see a faint blue glow radiating from them. Further left, you see a series of minecarts along with a team of roughly eight orcs. Four of them seem to be working on placing tracks and digging out a larger tunnel while the other four seem to be on guard duty. These four seem to be carrying rifles. None of them seem to be aware of your presence. Overhead on the tunnel ceiling, you see a number of bright glowing orbs along with a few seeing eye orbs. You know the glowing orbs are simply a common means of illuminating a given area with magic. Trying to attack them may result in a minor explosion. You don’t know how far the tunnel goes to the right as it curves into the ground, but you see a pair of crossbow-equipped orcs patrolling along in this direction.

Jondanger 23 (Free): You are a human cleric/summoner hybrid. You can heal things and you can summon stuff from a summoning handbook that is given to you. In order to accommodate for the features of this combined class, you have lost your tough skin trait, but you have gained two summoning slots, which you can use to summon basic mooks. You also get a staff and robes, along with basic equipment.

You find yourself sitting on a vast shoreline, with a great forest before you. It appears to be dawn. Somewhere in the distance, you see smoke arising from the forest, accompanied by screaming, the galloping of horses, and the sounds of buzzing warhorns. Nearby, you see a small wooden dock with a few dugouts strapped onto it via rope.

Yoloisfox (4): Hearing Gavin’s cry for help, you step into the shack through the front door. A small kitchen/hearth area lies immediately to your right, while a dining area lies to your left. The floor creaks as you step on in. There doesn’t seem to be anyone around. At the back right end of the house, you see a closed off area with a locked door going to it. You hear Gavin’s cries for help come through it, but you can also hear his voice coming from underneath the house.
Blackie (6,1): You spring yourself up high into the air, land on one of the shades’ shields, and then jump and snap its head off. As soon as his body starts falling, you try the same technique on one of the other shades. You succeed, but you forget to jump off again, and you feel three sabers crunch into your carapace. You howl out in pain.
Black Mage Anolis (4): You agree to accompany these humans to the next town over, after getting back on the road. The town is surrounded by a short stone wall with several wooden towers along the top. A number of guards seem to be patrolling as well. You see a number of the white and orange fist banners along the outside. The town itself seems to be bordering a river, with several small farmhouses and shacks surrounding the outer walls. When you reach one of the gates, the people accompanying you convince the guards that you aren’t associated with the Empire, and they let you in. Inside, you see about five main roads going into the center of the city, with a large stone spire standing in the middle. At the back end of the city, you see a large, rectangular manor with the Sarastil banner prominently displayed. Considering it is still nighttime, not many people seem to be wandering about, aside from a few homeless beggars and suspect characters. From one of the other roads, you see an ox-drawn wagon with a canvas covering its goods. The person driving the wagon seems to be accompanied by seven guards, each of them in scale armor. You see what appears to the muzzle of a gun sticking out of the back of the canvas.

One of the people accompanying you says, "The mayor may be asleep at this time, so you’d best find yourself a room at the local inn, though I’m not sure they’d be willing to cater to your kind."

"Meh, the temple might be better suited to your likes."

Undying Phoenix (5):    You are incapable of summoning anything else at this point in time. You must find a way to get rid of Gandalf before summoning something else. Furthermore, unless you happen to roll a six again, you won’t be able to something with that sort of power at this point in time, and if you succeed, it will probably be hostile to you. You should probably try summoning something more basic instead. Your roll has been applied to your escape check instead.    Before Gandalf can find you again, you run across to the other mountain and climb up to the stone tower. You see a number of goblin skeletons lying throughout the area. There seems to be a single entrance to the tower, which you step into. The inside seems to be relatively empty, aside from a spiral stairway going up and down the tower. A number of rectangular windows line the side of the building. After waiting for about a minute, you feel that Gandalf’s presence is no longer near, and you feel your magical energies returning to you. You have regained use of your summoning slots.
Philosopher (6): You attempt to open the jail door. It seems to be unlocked for whatever reason. You then take one of the torches on the wall. Once out of its sconce, it starts to dim.

When you turn back to face your cell, you see that the dead elf corpses are now standing up. Furthermore, when you turn to face the hallway, you see a statue standing right in front of you that wasn’t there before. The good news is that it’s not a statue of Cathy. The woman depicted in front of you has a ponytail going off her right side, along with two angel-like wings. She also seems to be wearing a long dress. The statue has a wicked grin on her face, much like that of Cathy. Something tells you that letting your eyes off this statue is a bad idea.

Cyberse (5): It takes a while to get back up to the part of the mountain where the shades were, but once you get there, you speak with them.

One of them says, "Is that a zombie?"

"I didn’t know disembodied heads could talk."

"I guess they’re not all that bad after all."

When you mention the witch, one of them says, "What witch? I don’t remember seeing anything of the like. Though, that isn’t to say that what you saw didn’t happen. It might be witches are that powerful."
