Eh, most of the FO Es in the first stratum are kinda tough, but the bat-type on floors 4 and 5 aren't that much worse than regular enemies. Good thing too, as a pair of them are the backup for the stratum boss; taking them out of the picture beforehand makes the boss fight much easier.

The purple dinosaur is the worst of the bunch, followed by Raptors, Ragelopes, and then the bats.

Having been trampled by the Ragelope in the original it's more that they're incredibly hard-hitting and have some gimmick that makes them terrifying.
Oh man Ailing Slash is whack. Chloe in the storymode team can MAUL enemies with it nearly as hard as the Fafnir once status is applied.

Yeah, I know that Story Mode kinda pushes Chloe as the party healer, but there's really no good reason not to go for the War Edge skills and put her on the front line instead. Arianna can handle the healing just fine.
I had Chloe alternate between Ailing Slash and healing, personally.

I dropped a few points in healing after maxing out Ailing Slash, but only used them when Ailing Slash would be weak anyway.

Arianna just stacks the elemental damage on in my teambuild, because I got lucky with the Grimoire trades I got my mitts on a L10 Link Order and now her 10+10 Link Order hits harder that the Fafnir's elemental blade hits when he's not transformed.
The PWNING the minibosses is real.
ADD: It's hilarious that the original FOE Theme was remixed into a dungeon BGM in Etrian Mystery Dungeon. They should have used it as the DOE theme.

I'm cautiously optimistic about Etrian Mystery Dungeon 2. I didn't like the first game much at all, but I don't think its problems were fundamental to its design. It just had a lot of ancillary problems.

I should play Etrian Mystery Dungeon some time. I really like that style of gameplay.
Though I ought to finish Untold Stories 1 and 2, first.

I haven't finished Etrian Mystery Dungeon yet, mostly because I have yet to complete Untold 1 and Untold 2. At least in Untold 1 I've managed to get into postgame and beat the Storm Emperor and Blizzard King, though I still need to beat the Great Dragon and the ultimate boss.
Still, looking forward to seeing what the new Etrian Mystery Dungeon brings. Hopefully it will have the three dragons again, seeing how they don't seem to be present in Etrian Odyssey V.

Yeah, currently on Floor 29. Beat the Blizzard Clone, and am currently waiting for the Wyvern to respond so I can beat her for the sidequest that leads into the Great Dragon fight.

Beat Story Mode, now back to Classic.
Hexer a stronk. All the debuffing and statuses and binds all day erry day.
Also Beast + Medic is pretty handy. Gonna want to double up the Grimoires to give my Beast +20 HP Up and both Physical and Elemental Defense Up.

Barely beat the Berserker King with just 19 HP and 1 TP left on my healer with everyone else dead. Now that's what I call clutch.

just spent 20-30 minutes killing a raptor FOE on the 3rd floor of untold 2
honestly im kind of amazed i was able to kill it this early, but at the same time, its tanky as shit.
not doing that again for a while.

The unique black one? Yeah, that one is kinda a bitch, but if you can kill it in a reasonable number of turns (like 10 or so), you're well on your way to being ready for the stratum boss.

Latest acheivement: Defeating a first-stratum FOE at level 8. Once you have Prevent Order the first Raptors you face are just hard hitters.
