SCP Foundation Trope Page:

sometimes it's unsettling when there's a benign looking object that could possibly be in your home but it's described as a terrible terrible artifact in the scp wiki.

Cmdr. of His Supremacy's Armed Forces
The Cup Of Joe (Can't remember the proper name) scared me.

Because I was holding a cup when I read it.

That cup got put down pretty fast.
What'd you just say about my hair?!
The vending machine SCP?

Cmdr. of His Supremacy's Armed Forces
No, the one where if you hold it, it fills with a bodily fluid and unless you drink that you'll die.

Here, actually.
What'd you just say about my hair?!
Ah, I see. That one is pretty creepy.

The current featured article, SCP-973 creeps me out too.

Psycho cop with a liking of rape, mutilation and leaving survivors.
What'd you just say about my hair?!
Have you read the current featured story? The White Knight?

It was one of the few stories to really unsettle me.
In our heart, Mr. Ando will always be a penguin.
Cmdr. of His Supremacy's Armed Forces
I just did.
Mage of Life-Breath-Doom
I am very tempted to make an fanfic about scp-387, not sure what exactly, maybe some sort of detailed report on an scp-387's "settlement"?
"Here to welcome our new golden-eyed overlords," said Addy promptly.
Cmdr. of His Supremacy's Armed Forces
I want 387 so much.
Mage of Life-Breath-Doom
[up]Who doesn't? I wanted to know, are they *really* sentient btw?
"Here to welcome our new golden-eyed overlords," said Addy promptly.
cannot into space
I just hung out with the older sister of someone I'm tutoring. Discovered that she's a huge geek, so we started talk about stuff. Then I discovered she's a troper. I casually mentioned the SCP foundation, and her eye's lit up.

She wrote this. Yay meeting geeks IRL!

We talked about EVERYTHING. I got a batman comic book, and a set of batman TAS, and she got a Discworld book. It was a good trade.

...Could somebody please explain this one? I must be missing something, because I have no idea why it's rated so highly. It's just a bunch of random details thrown together. It's got +49, so it must be doing something that people like.

They explain it on the discussion page.

Short version is, it's basically the 'there is no canon' statement in SCP form, as an SCP site which absorbed the features of the SC Ps it contained (the faces pamphlet being the largest indicator of that), as a result of which it became unusable and was bricked over and forgotten and then promptly removed itself from history. There are also references to one of the Foundation's shoddy knock-off fansites, which is probably a cause for a lot of the upvoting.

Karn you dig it?
[up][up] What I took from it was that it's basically something that's trying to mimic the foundation but isn't quite perfect at it.

Can you cool it with the Karn puns, Zennistrad?

No problem. They were kinda Karny anyway.

The entire point of 902 is that there isn't anything in the box. The box itself magically causes people to believe that it contains something dangerous that must be destroyed at all costs. That's all.
