The Able rewrite is the best thing to happen to that entry in forever.
I have as many names as there are winds, as many titles as there are ways to die.

Wow. I haven't read much SCP stuff in months, but it looks like the writers really are committed to toning down the X-Men aspects.

I'm not a big fan of grimdark... but some things were meant to stay grimdark. Like the hidden government agency that (barely) contains about a thousand world-destroying entities and solves most of its problems with cannon fodder.

After years as a fan I finally, finally tried writing an SCP of my own. It made the "most popular" page overnight and is still climbing!

I'm going to guess Brundle. :P

That was amazing - you kept coming up with even more disturbing details to throw in, especially in the experiment log. :D

Sample: one (1) fast food cheeseburger purchased from █████ drive through. Result: SCP-726 reconstituted two mature cattle and ██ Norwegian rats.
Squicky for reasons that had absolutely nothing to do with the SCP itself. Brilliance!

That is fantastic, I'm more down with the more supernatural flavoured SCP articles personally, but that is quality. Looking forward to seeing what else you can come up with.

This line also caused the brix to be shat somewhat -

I always find them scariest without any explicit "supernatural" qualities, since if we acknowledge magic/spirits/gods/demons it makes almost every SCP a little too easy to explain away, the whole "wizard did it" syndrome. I like to think SCP's are more like "glitches" in whatever makes up reality.

Or, better yet, they're all completely normal but our perception of reality is so inaccurate and limited that they only seem anomalous to us. We are the SCP.

And then we were a zombie. : O

Wow, that entry is genuinely disturbing.

I guess this really does show how fucked-up scythemantis can be sometimes.

Seriouslly, though, congratulations for getting something put up on the site. I would have never been able to think of something so disturbing or weird.

Entirely agreed. And even the ones that are 'magic' &c needn't ever all be the same kind of magic and be able to be handled identically...

The SCP series has been expanded with a second list for SCP-1000 onward.

The maggots are fun- the best SC Ps are the ones that are dangerous without deliberately being hostile. The Clone Degeneration is a neat touch too.

Ooooh....a thousand more. For that to even begin filling up we're going to have to see some extra effort in the creativity department.

I was browsing the SCP Wiki, and I stumbled across SCP-573.

My very first thought when reading this: Has the soundtrack to the new Muppets movie been released on vinyl?

I love this website. It seems very similar to us, actually. Let the community come up with the good stuff (and bad), and just kind of push it in the right direction. Doing this has created some of the scariest stuff I have ever read. Oh, and personally, the ones that are scariest aren't the ones that are supernatural, or the ones that are natural, but the ones that you don't know how (or why) they work. Nothing Is Scarier, after all. This is why that one with the staircase is so scary: WHAT THE **** IS IT?

Dear god, now I am thinking of a movie. Oh god... oh... oh god...

I honestly haven't found any of the entries I've read so far scary as such. If anything I think they're really cool. [lol]

I think it might be due to the fact that everything detailed on the website IS capable of being detained somehow. It kinda loses some of its creep factor (for me anyway) since I know that these creatures/objects aren't unstoppable.

Does anyone have any suggestions for ones that are genuinely frightening.

edit: Can't they just ask SCP-343 to get rid of SCP-682?

http://www.scp-wiki.net/scp-093 has some good apocalyptic logs, and is just kind of creepy, but I don't find it all that scary.

http://www.scp-wiki.net/scp-087 is really scary.

Oh, any of the proposals for scp 001, especially the factory (OH GOD).

http://www.scp-wiki.net/black-white-black-white-black-white-black-white-black-white is... well just read it for yourself.

A lot of them rely on fridge horror, more than just flat out scares. If you are looking for some good ones, just look at the top rated pages until you find one that scares you.
