A Game of Gods: A Multiversal Challenge

Raz walked over to the others. "Hey. I heard noises, is everything alright?"

"Indeed we are, Raz."

Spriggan stood up, porting slowly the sniper rifle.

"The combat droid somehow went ballistic here."

—The wall of the chamber crashes inward with a blast of biotic power. Through it strides Saren, covered in plaster, alien blood, and machine lubricant. He stops to glare at Subaru, the helmet disengaging.—

Ravage stared incredulously at Sub-Zero. "'Do I have time for a quick spar?' Do I have time for a quick spar?! What the slagging Pit do you think that was, you cryonic lunatic?! I just got smashed to a ruined mess by the mace of my own leader, and you dare ask me if I have time for a Primus-damned, Unicron-worshipping spar?!"

Rey reached up, flicking up the visor of the helmet, blinking out at them. "Well...I'd say the first test of this armor went pretty well. Getting shot hurt but it didn't puncture anything."

Subaru got up.

“I Don’t know how that happened. The drone I created was simply to adapt and use various weapons from different universes. I wanted to be ready for whatever we might encounter. It was not supposed to go up in level and it’s was for sure not supposed to copy us like that!”

She was angry, more with herself.

“I did have a failsafe system but it was not working, it didn’t shut off like it was supposed to! And that is what is bugging me.”

"More than likely the Nomads hijacked it" Kimimaro replied. "From what I've read, they're known to do that." He frowned. "They're likely - pardon the vulgarity - laughing their asses off right now."

"Umm..." said Sub-Zero, "you're all healed up now, remember? Everything got turned back to normal when that shapeshifting robot-thing blew up. I've got a little something I want to show you, and I'd hate to have to spoil it."

Raz sighed. "Aw man, I miss all the cool stuff!"

Kimimaro looked down at Raz. "You know, given the properties of this room, you could simply imagine a video of the previous debacle to watch if you so choose."

Raz sighed again. "I know. It just wouldn't be the same."

Don't activate such a device ever again. Failure to follow this will result in disembowelment.

"Subaru, I want one of those things personally."

"I suggest we disassemble it and destroy it."

Rey wandered over to sit down on the couch from before...only now having a chance to really start looking over this new armor. There were very few weak points to it that he could see...a bit of looseness at the jointed areas, which was not unexpected. Otherwise, it seemed ideal. His legs would normally be weak, but they felt just as well as they would with the knee braces attached, he didn't feel as though he'd have any problems with running or jumping in this. The HUD in the visor was a nice touch, though he felt he would have to experiment with it a bit to get the hang of what it could do. And the jet black color would make it ideal for slinking and hiding in dark areas...though it would make light areas an obvious difficulty.

And as he'd just found out, it was highly resistant. He'd taken firepower from the Deuce and an admittedly weakened collision from the mecha Sonic, and both times stayed on his feet. That was more of a relief than he'd imagined it would be.

This was a definite improvement to his situation. It would be a lot easier to fight when he wasn't having to worry about getting his ribcage caved in by whatever monster they were up against.

"I don't care! I have no interest in seeing you demonstrate your abilities!"

Subaru turned to Saren,

“Where were you? I don’t remember you having to deal with the drones out here.”

She looked at Bowser,

“Considering the actions we just went through, forget it! If I create another it might go just as nuts!”

"I guess my suggestion can work."

Spriggan had a great deal of trouble shouldering the anti-material rifle, taking aim at the downed rifle.

"Some nice armor penetration bullets should do the job."

"Oh, really?" said Sub-Zero. "Not even this?" He suddenly began glowing bright blue. "Sub-Zero, fatalize!" He then turned into a polar bear. "You're not the only one around here with a beast mode."

—Saren looks directly into Subaru's eyes.—

There was one, in the elevator that wretched child brought me into.It was someone I knew from my home dimension. Someone I am beginning to hold some respect for. And your machine copied him.

Subaru winced.

“Ouch, sorry about that. I take it he was not too friendly ether. We had to deal with Jorge, Eddie, and a few others we had known before apparently.”

"Again, I strongly suspect that the Nomads were behind the robots' rampage, Saren-san" Kimimaro said to the tall alien as he walked up. "The records I looked over hint that they seem to enjoy throwing things out to make us dance for them. If they chose to alter the machines' abilities and programming, there would be nothing that Subaru-san or any of us could do to really stop them. ...Where is the real Jorge, anyway? I've yet to meet him, and there seems to be no proof of him having been removed from the Challenges..."

Rey headed over, holding up his hands. "Take it easy, Saren. Subaru didn't mean for things to happen like that. She was just trying to help."

"On second thought..."

Spriggan slightly lowered the anti-material rifle.

"If I shoot this, we can all go deaf potentially. Maybe have this dude recycled."

—A mandible twitches.—

That's what sparring and summoned footsoldiers are for.

—He shifts to look Rey over.—
