Jorge then looked back up to see the shark's corpse turn into...something else. He blinked several times, unable to make sense of it.

The Star Warrior had managed to get stranded from the rest of the group and had ended up a little to the west. Occasionally jumping up out of the water to try and catch a glimpse, he slowly saw the drama take place.
"Boyo." <Wow. I think they could really use my help right now. Gotta swim. That new hat isn't good right now. Maybe I can show them later...>
Continuing onward, the pink puffball made slow progress.

As she swam, Hahli noted with some dismay that she had lost her ability to breathe underwater.
Makes sense, she thought to herself glumly. I'd have an unfair advantage over everyone else, but I hope we're not going too deep...
She explored the coves and crags underwater, looking for life- but there was none to be found.
What was going on here? she asked herself.

The strange thing which the shark had become swam just beneath the surface of the water, making ever-tightening circles around the floating members of the party. strange after-images seemed to follow in the monster's wake, and as it swam the glowing silver lines on its body began to pulse, hyphens of light flowing along them to the tip of its dorsal fin.
An odd chittering came from what Ravage assumed was the altered fish's mouth, and he noted with alarm that a ball of silver light was forming at the confluence of its dorsal fin.
"I do not like this..."
Ecco sang at the Hungry One in confusion, not understanding what his echoes told him. The thing above looked like a Hungry One, but there was something wrong about it that he simply could not put his flippers on.
WHY IS THIS HAPPENING?

Hahli swam towards the group, radiating malice from her body. Her eyes glowed redder than usual- with unusual malice she aimed her Cordak blaster directly at the beast and squeezed the trigger.

Hahli was blinded by the lights, but managed to swim out of the way before she was broadsided by the shark. She laughed again, but her usual high-pitched tinkle of laughter was harder and more sardonic.
"Do you really think that you can defeat a Toa of Water in her element?" asked Hahli, trying to clear her eyes from the lights.

The shark's only response was to dive a short distance, then turn and hurtle towards the surface at a preposterous velocity. It breached the waves with a shrill grinding noise, then impossibly hung suspended in midair and opened its mouth. Silver energy began to flow along the geometric lines to the tips of its pectoral and pelvic fins, as well as the corners of its mouth; an intense glow began to build in the back of the creature's throat, illuminating countless rows of jagged black teeth.
Ravage started when he realized what the shark was doing. Turning to the others, he shouted, "It's going to fire at us! Dive!!!"
And with that, the Decepticon took his own advice, dipping into the water and activating his turbine to send himself streaking downward.

Hahli sighed, but surfaced, took another deep breath of air, and dove down with Ravage.

Jorge wrenched himself out of the dolphin's grasp, allowing himself to sink. However, the Spartan was still in the monster's line of fire.
God dammit, I can't keep relying on this thing. There's gotta be some way for me to move...
Jorge started to twist around, trying to move himself out of the way. The supersoldier got more than he bargained for when he suddenly started to speed to the side.

"dear boy get behind me!" said Max as he finally did something and pulled out a small needle and thread.
" I did the right thing, didn't I? It all worked out in the end." "In the end? Nothing ends, Adrian. Nothing ever ends."
"Of course, Satsuki-sama."
As Saren descended, Gordon dropped once more. However, there wasn't any time for him to get his bearings. The mutant-shark-robot-thing was above them, but it would probably come down again. That really didn't inspire confidence in him.
His crossbow bolts still glowed from the heat they was producing, and Gordon aimed upwards, hoping to get a bead on the thing before it came back down.

Cirno dove below the water and zipped around down there like how she moved through the air. The water close to her grew cold at her mere presence.

Ecco dove as well, trying to keep safe as well as figure out what was going on. The young Singer had never experienced anything like this before, and it frightened him incredibly.
Above, the shark's mouth continued to grow brighter and brighter, until it was nearly blinding in its radiance; pulsating orbs of energy formed at the tips of its pectoral and pelvic fins, and these spheres grew larger by the second.
An odd clang, almost like distorted laughter, erupted from the altered beast; then a thick beam of silver energy exploded forth from its maw, spearing into the water and streaking towards the seafloor far below. Smaller beams lanced out from the orbs on the monster's fins, spreading their destructive radius through the water and making it uncomfortably warm for the divers, even though the blasts missed them all by a wide margin.

The heat bothered Gordon, so did the laser-firing shark, but not as much as the prospect of fighting this thing underwater. He pulled the trigger of his crossbow, and the bolt tore up through the water. He wasn't sure if it would do much damage, but it was worth a shot.

Wait. That was it! The Spartan mentally wished to move forward. He felt something unfold from his backpack. The device activated, sending him speeding through the water. Jorge grinned; he didn't know what it was, but it felt like a jetpack, and it worked like one, too, yet it somehow worked underwater, and he could control it without wearing a helmet.
Time to act.
Jorge looked at the beast above him and narrowed his eyes. He wouldn't just stand around and do nothing while his comrades put their lives on the line to stop it. With a single thought, Jorge began to charge the monster.

Kirby, however, had hit a bit of a speedbump. The Star Warrior's small, round frame made it extremely tiring for him to continuously jump out of the water to move forward.
"Boy, boyo boyo boy, boy boyo..." <So... Tired...>
As the pink puffball stopped jumping, he felt a strange urge to go underwater. It was as if something was calling him... Being impulsive, Kirby changed to stone and began to sink...

The shark's assault abated just as Gordon's quarrel struck it in the gut. Again came that awful screech, and again the monster's silver lines flickered an angry shade of red; if Hahli had been watching the beast, she would have noticed that the lines stayed red for a bit longer than earlier before returning to their silver hue.
The shark abruptly dropped out of the sky, diving into the water and surging forwards to meet the charging Spartan and demon head-on.
Seeing that the beast had stopped attacking, Ravage also charged towards it, teeth bared and claws splayed.
Ecco dove downwards, then turned and began to swim straight upward, his trajectory taking him to intercept the Hungry One with a hard ram of his beak.
NO MORE! I WILL FIND OUT WHAT HAPPENED, AND I WILL DRIVE THIS THING AWAY!

Okay, it's in the water. Let's not think about Black Mesa, and let's kill this thing.
Gordon took a chance. If this was a challenge, they wouldn't deprive him of almost all his weapons, would they?
He pulled out his pulse rifle, and held down the trigger. Remarkably, the blue, heated projectiles boiled their way through the water, towards the shark.

Craft had been launched into the air at a higher altitude than the others, though this only increased his alarm at suddenly being so high. Despite his weight, he fell slowly enough to see the entire event occur.
Well... I guess it's time to bring out the big guns.
With a triple clack, he activated his weapon and extended its' missile racks, taking aim at the weird shark. He briefly wondered if it was a giant mechaniloid but shook away the thoughts. The gun fired continuously, multitudes of missiles following in ever larger amounts (though they spread out as they did so). It also slowed down his descent to a noticeable degree.

Deep water sometimes got to Gordon. Not all the time, but sometimes. Not the water itself, but what was in it. This mostly stemmed from his encounters with the monsterous sea creatures and pirahna-like leeches in Black Mesa.
Now there was a black, glowing shark in the water somewhere.
