I love most characters in this. And I hate all the appropriate villains.
I like most of the cast also, though the only villain I really got an enmity (and admiration) for was Medusa. Arachne I found sort of interesting and intimidating while Asura to me was a sort of entertaining weirdo.
I still can't watch the dub without freaking out whenever Stein and Spirit speak to eachother. Seriously, what asshole had the idea to cast Shit FuckerShou Tucker and Edward Elric as those two?
still find it odd Maka's mom never showed up.
Secret SignatureIt'll just be one of those things.
mostly bothered me cause it made her look pretty neglectful.Maka's parents have issues man.
Secret SignatureYeah, people have remarked on that. (Especially Crona XD) I think the idea was that Maka's mom was supposed to be more of a symbol than a character.
What's that saying? "Mother is God in the eyes of a child." I guess that's what Maka's mom was, essentially.
Poll question: What characters were your favorite and least favorite and why?
Well, Maka lives in a boarding school of some kind, and her mother is Japanese (I think?), so it's pretty natural that they'd never meet in the story. The anime hyped her up more than the manga did, but it was kind of implied that she was just a slightly above average scythe tech being helped by the talented Spirit who can match his wavelength to anyone. Which also kinda matches Maka's fears in the sin chapters.
Seems like matching Spirit (can align his wavelength to anyone) and Stein (ditto) was either a perfect match or overkill.
...which may be one reason why Marie basically became Stein's weapon of choice in the later chapters.

I have a message from another time...I still like the Stein as Maka's mom WMG. (That the theory neatly ties together all the existing elements w/o introducing any new weirdness says a lot for this series.)
"Show us the Galaxy Warp."...I have several questions.
I have a message from another time...That's why Maka's mom can send her postcards, but not show up in person or make phone calls.
"Show us the Galaxy Warp."I remember hearing somewhere that Okubo thought about having Maka's mom appear in 113.
Yeah, it's not like there's a character in the series who enjoys having surgery performed on him/her or anything.
"Show us the Galaxy Warp."I tried to got to the Soul Eater screening at Anime Boston (even though I seen all the episodes more than once already), but the tapes didn't arrive so they replaced it with a screening of Sailor Moon an hour before it started.
Man, I wish the fandom of this was bigger. I keep wanting to see more at cons.
It's sadly the fate of a completed series that wasn't exactly huge in the first place.
The ending of the series slightly disappointed me.
Advance towards me, brethren.I can understand.
finished third volume of Soul Eater Not! and I'm surprised to like it so much since it's the same as anime.
Though was working in an office with Auntie in the anime? And manga version of Meme's Hangover was sadly inferior.
A new Manga by Soul Eaters mangaka starts next week!

Ooh, nice. New thread for the future?
I suggest waiting until there's scans for the first chapter.
Finished Not!, and extra things that were added to it made me like the finale better than the anime.
Fire Brigade of Flames is up to Ch. 2 now.
Arachne goes out with a bit more dignity in the manga.
Oh, Medusa ultimately outplays her, to be sure. But not without the aid of Maka's anti demon wavelength.
I have a message from another time...
