The Pokédex - Extended Fanon Edition:

Trainspotter
There. Are you happy now? Ask yourself- was it worth it? Was it worth it, Blissey? Was it?

Your army sucks.
Maybe we should start legendaries soon. Though their unique abilities won't really fit well with our current template. I'd like to make a new template for legendaries and start the entries with either Mewtwo or Arceus itself.

My idea for legendaries is that a lot of them (especially the Hoenn ones) are sacred animals, that, while strong, rare, and very powerful, did not actually create the world.

I'm inclined to believe that to an extent. Though with the level of power they exhibit, especially with out a Restraining Bolt. I wouldn't be surprised if they did. Especially the greater Sinnoh trio and Arceus.

I'll have the template up in a bit.

maybe change "abilities" to "speculated abilities"? These are only known via myths and non scientific sighting, afterall...

I'm assuming that they have been caught before by various P Cs and those abilities are observed based on anecdotes from those trainers.

I like it. Don't have time to participate, unfortunately, but I'm liking the layout so far. I think basing information on the P Cs experiences is a good idea- They all have relationships with well-known professors, after all.

Oh hey, What if I were to start this on the Pokecommunity forum? There's a decent concentration of Tropers there (hi all), so I figure people will at least understand what it's about.

I don't think that any Legendaries evolve, so we don't need Morphs...

^ What about multiform legendaries like Deoxys?
"Wait, it's IV. Of course they are. They'd make IV for Dreamcast." - Enlong, on yet another FFIV remake

IMHO, that's not actually evolving, that's just temporarily changing to suit external conditions, like Castform.

It still counts as morphology, though.

Element Blue: You could try, though realize if it takes off there then the two dexes will likely diverge pretty soon. Not that there's anything wrong with that.

Neo Crimson: When I find the time to update the index, I'll add that template.

Though "Hazards" would probably fall under Lore or Sightings; they presumably are encountered in unusual enough circumstances that you can't really give general advice there.

Mewtwo's an interesting case. Most legendaries, it's ambiguous if they're individuals or members of a rare species, but Mewtwo is a definite individual.

How much is known about Mewtwo depends on how we decide that incident went. If it went down like the anime, only Team Rocket and some sworn-to-secrecy trainers have knowledge of its existance. If it happened more as implied in the games, then there's the Cinnabar Mansion notes to build on, and if Red/Gold captured them then yeah.

Or, maybe Mewtwo ended up making a public-but-reclusive appearances, such as challenging Stadium champions.

I'm going partly by the manga continuity. It legally belongs to Blaine , but it hangs out in the Cerulean Cave. Testing trainers who are strong enough for the League to let them in there. If they manage to catch it, the trainer is granted temporary ownership.

"They" is probably a more polite pronoun than "it" tongue.

So, "partly"- was Team Rocket involved?

I think we should go by the anime for Mewtwo- if there's a hyperintelligent shaved cat psychic warrior bred to kill running around, the populace would no doubt be a bit perturbed. I think it would only be reasonable that there's some kind of coverup involved, and that it should almost be required for such a creature.

This was the case before Red caught it for the first time. After that its existence was made public, and there was a storm of controversy. But it was eventually agreed that Red was skilled enough to keep it in line. Right before Red's disappearance, he turned it over to Blaine.

Also, due to Red's influence, Mewtwo isn't as vicious as its anime counterpart.

Sorry; I don't really read the manga/watch the anime, I just like the games.

That wasn't from either, I just made that up based on information on Red in the games.

Should we start brainstorming reasons for the Schizo Tech in the series? (eg. they have advanced wireless transmission/communication systems that seem to rely on quantum entanglement yet there are very few motor vehicles and no roads?)

They're very ecologically conscious?

also, assuming lots of people have a flying type with them(Pidgey and it's expys are certainly common enough), who needs a car for personal transport? They only vehicles we've seen in the games are large trucks for moving things pokemon couldn't handle.

I guess it's a case of only developing tech for things that pokemon can't already do themselves.

Also, after reading the Pokémon WMG on this very site, I am leaning towards the angle that Pokémon takes place After the End, but society is well on the way to recovery. It would also explain places like Orre, which were once heavily irradiated and as such support very little life today. (Of course, this hypothetical conflict would take place so long ago that nobody could remember it... leading it to be immortalized as a tale of legendary, battling Pokémon.)

I know that I said I would have an entry on Absol up at some point this week. regrettably, I was proven wrong.

However, I've been working on something even better—an article on Team Rocket! It will be up later today, perhaps even within the hour.
