The PokÚdex - Extended Fanon Edition:

Flower Fairy
Thanks! I'm working on Seviper right now.

Your army sucks.
The thing about horns is that they are never actually sharp. They're designed to focus force into a very small point, but they have no actual edge. They're stabbing weapons, unlike Seviper's tail.

I think bone is slightly more plausible when concerning an actual blade.
Sorry, I can't hear you from my FLYING METAL BOX!
Bone hurts when hit, and a corneous sheat is more likely, although no known animal has edged claws or horns. Enamel may work, and shark "scales" are actually little teeth, but it seems weird.

(I have to get done an essay and prepare an exam in 8 hours, so here I am, master procrastinator).

And Neo got a thumped post.

I honestly think that making Seviper's blade-tail out of bone would be stretching my Willing Suspension of Disbelief. If all else fails, make up some new metal that only exists in the pokeverse or go for Regicite if you must. Then again, I suck at these things, so do what you think is best.
This is gonna take a while.

[up] Regicite isn't needed to explain this.

EDIT: @memyselfandI2: I was meaning to mention that your Social Structure section somewhat contradicts the Pokedex by making Krokorok mainly solitary, when it says that they're naturally found in small groups.

Indeed, Regicite should be an absolute last resort when dealing with non-legendary pokemon.

Also I thumped that post because it was irrelevant Troper Tales esque posturing.

Holy crap, pigeons can see 5 different basic colors... That has to find its way into Pidove's article... Every bird Pokemon with Keen Eye should be able to make a Predator look blind.

BTW, there are Over Nine Thousand bird species. That goes bolded into my essay. As well as a mention of the Predator if I have space.

↑Already made somewhat of a mention in the Hoothoot article. Six basic vision receptors, two of them for ultraviolet ranges, helping explain their ability to detect Ghost moves and other kinds of stuff.

that's nothing. Some species of mantis shrimp have 16 receptors. 12 for colors and 4 for polarized light.

...I wish there was a mantis shrimp pokemon...

Scizor is that, with emphasis on the mantis part.

But yeah, awesome eyes...

You complete me.
Tooth beats nail by a longshot.

It's venoness, and Seviper is a snake, so that means it must be a modifyind gland. (Snake venom is evolved saliva.) So then it means their venom would be evolved sweat (just as Mammalian milk is evolved sweat.)

Guess Who...?
I'm gonna second the corneous sheath idea, seeing as there's not an awful lot in the way of biologically produceable substances that can be sharpened without causing major issues. (Straight bone for one, is a non-ideal substance due to the necessity of marrow to keep the thing alive.) A thing to consider when writing this up would be where the venom glands on the tail blade are located (if there are any at all).

Too bad reptiles don't sweat, they lost skin glands when they developed scales...

Still, a poisonous oil? All-Natural Snake Oil could work...

5266 Neo Crimson, Thu, 28th Apr '11 10:00:17 AM from behind your lines.
Your army sucks.
For one thing All-Natural Snake Oil doesn't mean what you think it does. Secondly, it's perfectly plausible that Seviper has venom glands around the base of the blade, that leak poison on to the blade proper. Or the blade is hollow and functions like a stinger to inject venom.

^ But stingers are barbs, not blades. Unless if Seviper's preferred use of its tail was to use it to impale opponents, I sincerely doubt that it would function like a stinger.

there's no reason why it can't stab with the tail. Hell, it naturally learns Poison Jab afterall. And even if it's a slash, I'm pretty sure the tip would still penetrate the flesh enough to potentially inject some poison.

Flower Fairy
Seviper can both slice (Poison Tail) and impale (Poison Jab) with its tail. I do think enamel could work in place of keratin, but could someone explain this "corneous sheath" so I know how it works?

actually, slashing being an inefficient method of poison delivery compared to stabbing meshes nicely with the fact that Poison Tail only has a 10% to poison whereas Poison Jab has a 30% chance.

Aside: this picture struck me as a good example of the non-Grim Dark atmosphere.

And is just grin.

May I add that it also pretty concisely and explicitly address one of our very own (potential, PEOPLE!!!) guidelines about PokÚmon having their personalities. It is also cute.

Blech...

Alright I have to say something. What is with the obsession with averting Darker and Edgier? We always have to show that so-called "evil" pokemon are actually nice after all. Now I understand trying not to turn the setting into a hellhole for the sake of it, but I think we're forgetting about the flip-side. But what about Light Is Not Good? What about members of traditionally "good" species have outright nasty individuals with no justification for their actions?

Thankfully we've kept this out of the actual articles for the most part, but the attitude that Lighter and Softer is inherently better bugs me.

Actually we don't have that. Even the simplest cutest little piece of PokÚfurball in this (that) universe can maim and kill you in a myriad ways, which while we don't describe in the articles, well we kind of point at them. It is just that D&E is mostly an outsider perspective that seeps in and brings in more actual problems because people confuse it with (sometimes badly applied) Deconstruction.
