I finished the Luvdisc article!
Morphs [Oak Catalog #]
- Luvdisc Aquarius Cardium
Luvdisc earned their name when they were first discovered by a young couple. Luvdisc do not have any evolutions, however, when foreigners discovered Alomomola,*
it was briefly thought the two were related. This was proven false. While the two indeed look similar, there has yet to be a evolutionary link discovered between the two.
Luvdisc are rather small Pokemon. They are pink with no limbs at all with white cheeks. One of the most noticeable attributes about them, is that they are shaped like a heart. They are coated in Heart Scales
which are coveted by collectors and certain trainers. Occasionally when faced with a predator, they will shed their scales to distract them as they make their escape.
They can harness the power of the rain for their own purposes, such as increasing their speed when swimming
, or heal certain injuries
with the help of the rain.
Because of their heart shape, it was associated with love, and it was customary for people to catch a Luvdisc in the Johto, Hoenn, and Sinnoh regions, and give them as a gift to their lovers, especially on Valentine's day. One myth that was associated with them, is that if any couple sees a school of Luvdisc, they will be blessed with eternal love. This has been proven false through various sources.
They swim using the protrusions at their back, and fluttering along the sea.
They mainly live in the ocean, living in the branches of Corsola and various reefs. Occasionally, they'll surface and briefly rest on top of the ocean.
They are filter feeders, so feed off of various microbes in the ocean such as food particles. The also feed on algae and various kinds of seaweed.
Luvdisc are one of the few Pokemon that barely have any hazards associated with them, as they are peaceful Pokemon, and prefer to flee in the cases of conflict, but they will attempt to confuse their attackers
if forced to. However, they do not mind a friendly battle and will gladly participate in them.
Courting and Childrearing
Mating is done mainly in Spring, when it is raining. Even though they are peaceful, they are very competitive over mates. The mating ritual is done through a jumping competition. Luvdisc see who can jump the highest out of the water in order to attract mates. Once a Luvdisc is impressed by another Luvdisc's jumping ability, it will go over to that Luvdisc and kiss it. Once they kiss, they flutter like wings in the water, eventually releasing eggs and sperm. The fluttering forces the sperm and eggs to collide, fertilizing the eggs. Once the eggs hatch, the parents take care of the offspring until they are old enough to swim by themselves, which roughly takes about 6 weeks.
Luvdisc typically travel in large schools. The colony generally travels together, especially in rainy weather. Though occasionally some Luvdisc will leave the group and form their own colony.
This is my first article. So what do you think? I know that some entries are lacking in information.
