Double post to say I finished Dust of Dreams and will probably read the next two books in The Black Company next.

Now downloading Don Quixote. I still don't know how to pronounce that word.

"Key-Hote-ay"

Well, that's close enough. I'm not sure how to actually write out the pronounciation at the moment.

I'm interested in harry turtledove. Which novels don't having him repeating points to the ground.

The Dragon Reborn is the best book in the Wheel Of Time-series. Just throwing that out there.

Finished Lord Of Light.

Awesome. Simply awesome, especially for a myth buff like me.

And then there's that stupid, idiotic, awesome pun...

I think I'll write the work page one of these days.

I just find the very different summaries funny. I mean, what the hell was in his notes?

Any word yet when Exegesis is getting published?

Also, my AP World teacher gave me a copy of Candide and all Voltaire's other stories.

Been reading the Temeraire series to pass the time on bus rides after getting back from winter break. Right now I'm up to Empire of Ivory. I'm honestly surprised I like it this much since dragons are one of my least favorite fantasy creatures.

@Lucky - How was Toll the Hounds? That's where I left off in the Malazan books.

I thought Toll was fairly weak, until the last two or three hundred pages which were fucking awesome.

I'd suggest reading it just because Dust of Dreams was pretty good overall, and there's interlockingness.

Does the Temeriare series pick up then? I read the first one and I'm borrowing hte rest of them, but I've been wary of actually reading them.

Bleak Seasons continues to be good, but weird. Murgen is really, really interesting. Perhaps more than Croaker ever was

Anathem has the most satisfactory ending of any Neal Stephenson novel I've read (and that's everything excluding The Baroque Cycle and The Big U.)

I'm tearing through Battle Royale. That tends to be the case after I've read a dense work of literature. For instance, I finished The Neverending Story amazingly quick after reading Blood Meridian. Anyway, Yumiko (#7) and Yukiko (#6) reminded me of melloncollie and Aondeug respectively, for some reason.

"Anathem has the most satisfactory ending of any Neal Stephenson novel I've read."

I should probably finish it then. I got distracted about 700 pages in, and never got around to picking it up again.

I'm critically unable to get through more than 5 pages of Anathem. sad

^ Anathem does resemble a certain other work when it comes to making up words (though Stephenson doesn't go as far as Burgess does), but enough context is provided to understand most everything mentioned. Hell, half the stuff Sammann says is restated because he realizes the avout won't get his Techno Babble.

Then again, this book included topics I'm more than familiar with (besides quantum mechanics), so perhaps I'm biased.

I like the story and topics well enough, and I didn't really mind all the made up words (it helped that Stephenson provided etymologies for all of them). I just got distracted by a bunch of things, and don't particularly feel like starting over right now.

Y'know, I went into Battle Royale expecting something really bleak. It was, but not as bleak as I imagined.

I didn't see Shinji as a Decoy Protagonist at all. I also didn't see any of the characters as being particularly Sueish, although on second thought, Shinji does brush against the border a bit.
