This wiki has different formats for different uses. There's the wiki page format, the very similar talk page format, the forum format, the crowner format, the index format, and the YKTTW format. I may be forgetting some.

The Pitch Testing Zone is currently in the wiki page format. I think it would be far more useful in the YKTTW format. I think this format would also be more useful than the forum format, especially if pitches just get jumbled in with the rest of the Writer's Block posts.

I don't know whether it would be possible to import the old pitches. But anyway, in a YKTTW-like environment:

  • Each new pitch would get its own YKTTW-style entry, and it would be clear where the pitch starts and ends.
    • It would be nice to split the entry into two sections: a short description and a longer detail section. When you are browsing the entries, you see only the blurbs, but when you open an entry, you'll see the details and the conversation about the pitch. This also helps writers to think about how best to use a compressed description.
  • People will be able to comment on the pitches, and hold discussions about them. It'll be clear where the comments start and end.
  • Those pitches seeing the most action, and the newbie pitches, would be up top, while the old pitches not getting many comments would drop down the page. This would work just like on YKTTW and would probably be useful.
  • You could flag your own pitches, and those pitches that interest you, so you could easily find them again to see if there are new comments.
  • Adding a pitch or a comment would not involve editing the entire page, as it does in the wiki-style pages.
  • You could delete your pitches (or move them to a "thanks for the help" archive of sorts) once you have enough info.

I think this sort of format would be a welcome one for aspiring writers, and would really help the Pitch Testing Zone to become a useful member of our little society. I'd definitely be more inclined to put the page to use myself.
Only the curious have, if they live, a tale worth telling at all.

Okay, I've brought this up in a couple other threads, and so far the Pitch Testing Zone is still the same as ever. I'm bumping this to hope people (like, say, Janitor or Fast Eddie) drop by and maybe think that this is a good idea.

The system doesn't know you right now, so no post button for you.
You need to Get Known to get one of those.
