Somehow I think this "escape" mini arc will be dragged longer than just next week´s chapter with tons of busted escape attempts and somehow Lucy ending up naked as always.

Nonsense... Lucy will end up being left behind and captured... IE just missing Mest's last ditch desperation teleport.

Then cue lots of Invel x Lucy or Zeref x Lucy ship tease

cause you can practically ship tease Lucy with a chair

You know I think I know what Natsus worse opponent might be.

A Water Dragonslayer who also uses Water Devilslayer Magic!

Put them on a boat and Natsu would be done for.

I for one, welcome our Water overlord.

Is that why Wendy had a "less friendly" relationship with Natsu in the past?

Wendy was supposed to be the water DS according to Word of God :P

Then again, with Juvia around, he probably thought there was no point since we already have a primary water user.

Maybe one of the 12 shields can be the water De S.Probably the long haired one between Not Marde and Invel Azir in the outlines.

Before the Timeskip, Fighting festival off the top of my head. Tenrou doesn't really count since she gets stuck with Lisanna... another Character Hiro strangely doesn't know what to do with. and they just kinda get trashed by Erza and don't do much even when GH shows up.

Meredy's fight is basically centered around Gray

Look Juvia's whole jealous girl shtick would work IF Gray was the unintentional chick magnet of the group... IE EVERY EVIL FEMALE MAGE -Maybe guy here or there- WANTS GRAY

but since it doesn't work like that Juvia is just a obsessive creepy fangirl who pretty much exists for pairing fodder. and sadly would realistically kill herself if she lost the Ship war.

Well she's not with him now that kind of counts then again she's still obsessed with the Ice Make Molder if you know what I mean.

Since it's been close to two years since I last read this I've decided to play catchup, Sunk Cost Fallacy and all that. So far my decision has been validated by this panel◊ alone. Ah Mashima... I like the clean and detailed nature of his art and the manga's pretty entertaining when the characters are just goofing around and bouncing off of each other, if only things didn't fall apart the moment he tries to tell a story...

Two years of catchup.... man, you must be The Chosen One.

As a Juvia fan, I have to say basically everything you guys are saying is true. I mean there are ways Mashima could of used develop her easily, especially with her role in the Tartarus arc which could of brought her and Gray closer either platonic ally or romantically, but noooo. He had to have her sit in their little cabin crying for half a year instead of actively looking for someone she was genuinely concerned about. Her lack of interactions nowadays with the other characters also bothers. Thus probably has to do with Mashima writing characters as one note when he doesn't know what to do with them or doesn't deem them important for the moment.
