What's your criteria for "mature audiences?"

For example in Mario, you have lite fluffy plots. Sonic on the other hand has Abusive Parents, Dead Little Sister, Killed Off for Real, Complete Monsters, and even implied genocide.

I've no idea what a mature audiecnec is, but I can agree that whatever one is, we can't lose sight of it, and Sonic is most assuredly for a mature one.
