Is this the one just released today? Because I've been looking for it on YT and I can't seem to find it.

It's not exactly naive. And it can happen. But it's tough. And definetly worthwhile.

OH GOD IT'S TOO FAR AWAY WHY CAN'T IT BE NOW

I'm definitely going for a playthrough wherein every piece of evidence is collected, every lead followed, but Cole's poor judgment of character makes him arrest all the wrong people. It will be hilarious.

Well, I hate to break it to you, but there is no "big lie", there is no "system". The universe is indifferent.

What kind of game is it anyway? Since it's by Rockstar, I guess it's a Wide-Open Sandbox, and according to our page, it is, but at the same time it seems to be a adventure game, similiar to Police Quest. An Action/Adventure game mix, maybe?

It's an open world action game with adventure game mechanics.

Already have this Pre-Ordered. Now i must wait... and wait... and wait... The biggest problem for me is going to be sticking with what the outcome of my actions are in game. But i am going to punch myself in the face hard if i restart anytime before Playthrough One is over. Unless a save file becomes corrupt or some other unforseen issue, if that even happens.

By the way, Kelso is the protagonist, not Phelps. Look a the structure of L.A. Noire: you're playing the backstory. If this were a film noir movie, how does it begin? With the Femme Fatale walking into the PI or investigator's office and setting the events in motion. This is exactly what happens with Kelso. He's an insurance investigator. A sexy dame walks into his office with a strange request (turn down a hefty insurance policy). He falls for the dame, but it turns out she's the sweetheart of his old army commander who is a publicly shamed police detective, and one that there's some serious animosity towards. The last 1/5th of the game plays out in the classic Film Noir - the broken police detective atones for his mistakes by getting killed, and the PI is forced to watch some of the perpetrators get away. This is driven home by the fact that it's KELSO who delivers the last speech in the post-credits cutscene saying he'll never compromise his value system. Oh, and by the way, if there's an LA Noire 2, guess who will have to be the protagonist, who just happens to be a PI - hint: it ain't Herschel Biggs. However, the way the ending is set up, Biggs would probably be either his friend on the force or his assistant. Funny how things work out, huh?

I'm so sure of this, I'll talk to the devs directly.

I'm seriously considering getting this... only question is, how violent is it - specifically, do the action sequences involve guns and first-person shootouts with lots of blood? Neither I nor the significant other enjoy playing/watching games that have too much of that stuff.

[up]Let's put it this way - at one point you'll encounter a crime scene that is strikingly similar to the "Black Dahlia" killings back in the 1930's, and they don't leave many details out. Except for the healing system, ammo, and the player character's incredible sprinting stamina, everything is handled realistically.

The gunplay is mild. Some of the crime scenes are graphic.

By the way, you can skip action sequences if you fail 3 times.

Some, but the action sequences to me are like minigames in a graphic adventure. The real game is looking for clues and figuring out the perps.

I bought this on a whim.

It has got to be the best impulse game buy ever.
So entertaining immersive and gripping, not to mention I can choose to pick up a lemon in case it might have clues on it wink

What you did there, I see it. tongue

But in all seriousness, I like Wide-Open Sandbox games for the freedom to go most anywhere, and interact with the environment. This game sounds like I'd enjoy it on the sandbox factor alone. Despite the morally-questionable content, I like playing Grand Theft Auto - if only for the freedom to drive like a maniac and trash whatever car I happen to have pilfered on asinine driving, attempting jumps and working on e-brake slides and OH CRAP A COP IS AFTER ME WHY DID I BUMP INTO HIS CAR

The game's not as sandbox-y as Grand Theft Auto, just as a warning.

It makes sense with the narrative, given that you're an idealist cop instead of an outlaw immigrant or former criminal or whatever, but you won't be able to go on rampages or anything of the sort. You do get a bit of leeway during cases to drive around the city, see things, and stop "street crimes," plus probably some other things that I don't know about yet because I only just got promoted to the Homicide division.

I do like that the game averts Always Murder just by virtue of the fact that you don't start out as a homicide detective.
