Don't feed the plants!
What's your favorite trope for:

High Octane Nightmare Fuel?

Crowning Moment of Funny?

Tear Jerker?

Crowning Moment of Heartwarming?

Crowning Moment Of Awesome?

For me they would have to be:

Was Once a Man

Shaggy Dog Story

Died in Your Arms Tonight

You Are Worth Hell

Villain Song

I'm feeling strangely happy now, contented and serene. Oh don't you see, finally I'll be, somewhere that's green...
"High Octane Nightmare Fuel?"

Knight Templar - reminds me of some of the people I've had the worst conflicts with, taken Up to Eleven

Any kind of cruelty to cats hits me much harder than any to humans, to the point where a book that had cats with their eyes and mouths glued shut and trapped under someone's house to starve gave me nightmares for a couple years afterwards. But there doesn't seem to be a trope for that kind of thing.

"Crowning Moment Of Funny?"

Cloud Cuckoo Lander - mainly since I am one, and so is my father

"Tear Jerker?"

Broken Bird - I empathize with them so much.

"Crowning Moment Of Heartwarming?"

Mama Bear - I have two of those myself, and strongly believe that a parent's love should be like this for everyone.

"Crowning Moment Of Awesome?"

Out-Gambitted - I love when two XanatosGambitters collide and one turns out to have planned for the other's plans. Even better if there's more than two.
If I'm asking for advice on a story idea, don't tell me it can't be done.

Just realized that maybe the reason I like LSOH so much is that it invokes every single one of my favorites except arguably Shaggy Dog Story. Unless, as a corrolary, they're my favorite tropes BECAUSE they're all invoked by LSOH.

An accurate depiction
High Octane Nightmare Fuel: Nothing Is Scarier. I like the suggestion of danger more than having it outright stated.

Crowning Moment Of Funny: Black Comedy. Screw regular humor, I want a tinge of sadness and scrainess with my jokes.

Tear Jerker: But Now I Must Go or Died in Your Arms Tonight. Both figure prominently in the tearjerkers of my stories. End of an Age is another, a less-used but incredibly sad trope.

Crowning Moment Of Heartwarming: You Are Not Alone. Nothing like having the rest of the team back up your protagonist when he's about to lose faith.

Crowning Moment Of Awesome: Hannibal Lecture or "World of Cardboard" Speech

Friend?
High Octane Nightmare Fuel
  • Body Horror. I'm a comic writer, and this is one of the more visible forms of terror, so it works for me.

Crowning Moment of Funny
  • Most of my stuff is comedic, so I'm constantly aiming for this.

Crowning Moment Of Awesome
  • When the Determinator gets up from being on the recieving end of a Curb-Stomp Battle and manages to still beat the bad guy. Also, if they manage to fight through an enormous group of baddies/obstacles to achieve their goal. I want them to Earn their happy ending.

Crowning Moment of Heartwarming
  • See above, but they're doing it for someone they love, be it a friend, love interest, or family.
