It's a bit sad to see that Futurama is over, but I'll get over it. At least the finale was great.
They came back from three previous series finales because they hadn't gotten the perfect closure yet.

Fresh-eyed movie blogIf they want to continue it (and they do) they'll find a way. It's not like 2001 where cancellation was instant death no matter what. If the producers say they have no more stories to tell, then I want it over with.
Oh yes. Easier to come back from than the wormhole at the end of Wild Green Yonder, really. The universe resets, chaos theory or a memory echo prevents it from happening. It's still a beautiful end.
Though come to think of it, The Devil's Hands is a better ensemble piece.
Fresh-eyed movie blogIf the finale had a fault, it’s that the gross Fry splatter gag goes on for far too long. Well, that and the ending still has me yearning for more Futurama. Sigh.
Confirmed Bachelors: the dramedy hit of 1883!So...what are the chances that Adult Swim picks Futurama back up and renew the series like they originally intended?
I just discovered last night that my local Fox affiliate is playing episodes from last season.
They're playing them at like 3:30 in the morning though.
Fresh-eyed movie blogRegardless of the odd airing time for the episodes, It's interesting that they're playing them at all. I thought FOX didn't want to air the series any more on any of it's channels?
I don't think the local FOX station is an Owned and Operated. They might be acting on their own.
Edit: yup, owned by Tribune, not NewsCorp.

Fresh-eyed movie blogOk, I just stared watching the series. I really only have one question, why is Leela wearing a pip boy?
Because it's THE FUTURE
Fresh-eyed movie blogAnd was made before Fallout. Yay, new viewer.
"No will to break."I checked. The first Fallout game came out two years before Futurama. :hmm
You fell victim to one of the classic blunders!I concede defeat, this time!
"No will to break."I miss this show.
what do you mean I didn't win, I ate more wet t-shirts than anyone elseLet it go, it had a pretty good run. Sure, the Wild Green Yonder had a better potential resolution and the episodes weren't as consistently good, but it had many gems and all told it's gone on for quite a while.
"No will to break."I think the memory cheats us here. There were often stinkers in the original run too.
Fresh-eyed movie blogThere were.
And that one episode that made me cry.
what do you mean I didn't win, I ate more wet t-shirts than anyone elseI have to say this; I think the Comedy Central episodes, animation-wise, are superior to the FOX episodes.
I know a lot of people argue about the Seasonal Rot, but when you had only 70% of the budget that FOX gave you, you had to pick and choose when to use CGI, which in the original run, they did in spades. I still argue that they should've drawn Bender getting his face crushed as opposed to using a CGI Bender in "Raging Bender".
Now, the writing did suffer a bit by focusing more on spoofing today's trends as opposed to spoofing classic sci-fi conventions, and there are a few godawful episodes like "Yo, Leela Leela", "Decision 3012", and "The Butterjunk Effect", but it featured most of my favorites, such as "Fry Am the Egg Man" and "Fun on a Bun".
I got some bad newz to tell you.I liked Decision 3012.
Fresh-eyed movie blogI didn't.
what do you mean I didn't win, I ate more wet t-shirts than anyone elseSo agreed. It was better when they went for more timelessness than timeliness.
Though I'll admit Decision 3012 skirts that line since it takes a "modern" issue and tries to run with it in classic sci-fi fashion. Of the times the ended up "commenting" on something, that was one of their best efforts. (surpassed only by 300 big ones)
What was that tune played during the montage?
