Just making a thread to discuss the current chapters of One Piece. As such, this is generally be a spoilerific thread, so this is a warning to those who are not caught up with the current chapters or who are only keeping taps with the anime.

Anywho, thanks to Oda's skills at unpredictibility, I can't tell where this arc is going to go. Judging from Oda's writing style in the past, this current arc will last quite awhile due to the Strawhats being spread out across the world and him setting up plots for each one of their adventures. So far, Luffy's odds of breaking Ace out of Impel Down easily look pretty slim due to the provisions the World Government has taken to keeping the execution going smoothly from outside interference. To add even more suspense, Whitebeard's fleet is on the move and after they clash with the Shichibukai and the Marines, there is sure to be a major shift in the balance.

I can spot a training montage for the entire crew a mile off, thoughwink. Nami on the island of weather? Blatant.smile

I'm hoping that an Oda training arc turns out to be way more awesome and cool than a training arc by any other author.

I'm putting my trust in him to pull this off in a great way, because, aside from the silly Davy Back arc, One Piece has been incredibly cool ever since Arlong Park!

Sorry it took so long to comment on the last chapter. Not to be a fanboy or anything, but One Piece is a really one good shounen manga; there isn't much to critique about it. Now if it was Bleach or Naruto...

Anywho, it is becoming increasingly obvious that there is nothing to sympathize about the WG, as evident by the type of "justice" they administrate in Impel Down. Their sense of morality is black in the overwhelmingly gray world of One Piece.

It's just kind of odd that given the World Government is undoubtedly Evil, as can be seen by all the torture and hideous stuff they do, like the Buster Call, and even the Nazi-esque uniforms of the jailers at Impel Down, that it's got such sympathetic characters in its ranks, like Monkey D. Garp and Coby and Helmeppo. My theory is that when the Straw Hat Crew topple the government (of course they will!), the "good" navy guys will take over.

I wonder what powers Supreme Admiral Sengoku will have.

We know he's a powerhouse cause he was a Admiral and Whitebeard said good things about him.

I think he'll be a Haki user.

HEY GUYS.

I finally got issue 50 of One Piece (it just came out in Germany recently, you guys are probably a couple thousand chapters ahead already...)! The one where the Thriller Bark arc ends!

And I need to know: Which episodes do I have to watch to see the full montage of Brooke and his flashbacks to La Boum and the song and the death and the partying and everything? I could probably look up "Binks' Rum" on Youtube and get results, but I really wanna see all of the relevant episodes in order to have the full context, because that... whole sequence is just too amazing to be restricted to a 5-minute low-quality Youtube video.

I was hoping Mr Oda would make the arcs about the other characters in entire chapters. I didn't expect Impel Down, and I didn't expect Sanji's adventures on Okama island to be chapter pictures...

Good God, he looks like he's crying in his heart.

Aaaaarrrrgh... must... resist... the spoilerrrrrs.

... Tell me, are the scanlations there any good? One Piece is one of the few mangas I actually buy, but money is scarce, and Germany is so far behind... But I also don't want to read a crappy scanlation that translates everything word-for-word and leaves out punctuation or such!

By the way, fhgfuyt, after reading through some older One Piece stuff and coming across Sengoku/Senghok again, I started thinking, and I think that he... is invulnerable. We know very little about him, but... I think he doesn't look like much of a fighter, and being the boss of the whole navy is really something you need more brains for than brawn, but Authority Equals Asskicking, and he has directly faced some dangerous people without flinching... Furthermore, he's also called The Buddha, apparently. The devil fruit that resurrects you is already used, so being impervious to damage is the next-best-thing.

Now the question is, will Luffy's Crowning Moment Of Awesome continue? (Yes, I count this whole arc since he got to Impel Down as one big C Mo A)

I don't understand anything anymore. Weren't Luffy and Ace half-brothers? And wasn't Luffy the son of Dragon? This makes no sense!

Yeah, I'm guessing Ace and Luffy were adopted brothers, both raised under Garp, because there's no way Portgas D. Rouge could have given birth to both of them, and Gold Roger and Dragon are their respective fathers.

So who's Luffy's mother?

Its a good thing this forum is getting more active.

I don't think we'll learn Luffy's mother for a while. Theres no way this many huge developments could happen that quickly.

Also, damn, that was a surprising chapter.

Wait, if Ace's mom was pregnant with him for 20 months - y'know, I've long since stopped trying to bring logic into One Piece - does that mean that Ace is closer to actually being 21 than 20? Physically, at least.
