He sounds a bit like Slug from Atmosphere.

Who the fuck is Aes Rock?

Nah, I know who he is, just quoting him.

favorite songs, people? I like almost everything, especially No Regrets, 9-5ers Anthem and Daylight
Any idiot knows Freud was a Star Trek fan and Star Wars invented The Hero, right?
Uncle George
From Aesop? IDK, I haven't listened that much of him. I have Daylight on my Spootify playlist, though.

Anyone else felt that this was a bad year for rap?

I heard a couple of good albums (namely Strange Journey Volume One-Cunnynlinguists, Born Like This-MF Doom and K'naan-Troubadour) but i didn't feel like any of them would become classics.
How come there's no noise rock Noise? D:

I only really like the Daylight EP from Aesop Rock (how are we always talking about him? lol). It's like Labor Days with the fat cut out. Although 9-5ers Anthem is good too.

Yeah, Sadistik sounds a LOT like Slug. For a bit I thought it was one of his side projects.

Atmosphere is better than Aesop Rock lol
I'm so sorry
Neccy: I disagree with your statement.

@Favorite songs: "Mars Attacks", "No Jumper Cables", "Dark Heart News", and ther're about twenty others.

Daze: I know you do. :3

Anyone else here like Flying Lotus?
I'm so sorry
Neccy: Well we could always compromise.

Yeah, Flying Lotus is cool. I sused to have Los Angeles on my old computer. Wonder if they're on Spotify...

"Dead Prez & DJ Green Lantern "Pulse of the People" is the only good rap album to come out in 2009. Prove me wrong."

Whaaaaaat are you fucking kidding me? That's not even an album proper; it's just a mixtape...

Raekwon - Only Built For Cuban Linx II, which is hands-down my album of the year.

Antipop Consortium - Fluorescent Black

Blakroc - Blakroc

Mos Def - The Ecstatic

UGK - UGK 4 Life

Dälek - Gutter Tactics

People Under the Stairs - Carried Away

Skyzoo - The Salvation

Marco Polo & Torae - Double Barrel

And I'm just getting started...

Also, I need to know. WHY on earth do people like Aesop Rock so much? He's not terrible but he's soooooooo pedestrian.

edited 14th Dec '09 3:40:11 AM by Spiraliscious

I'm so sorry
Pedestrian? That's kind of why people like him.

"Pedestrian? That's kind of why people like him."

By "pedestrian", I mean he's really nothing more than an adequate emcee. As in incredibly boredom-inducing adequate. As far as non-gangsta underground rappers go, you could do far better.

I'm so sorry
Spiral: Calm down. I thought you meant "average person" by pedestrian.

I disagree, but whatever.

I just like Aesoop's style, it's nice, in a minimalist way.

Anyway, Mos Def's album was pretty good, and I'm sure those others were too (though I've head UGK 4 Life was a bit of a dissapointment). "Prove me wrong" is a /mu/ meme, btw.

I end this transmission with possibly the best bad rap song ever:

Girlies, rub on your titties.

Spiral: wut

Is there anyone here who's a fan of turntablism? DJ Q-Bert and all them.

I heard the album Mike Patton and the X-Ecutioners did. It was pretty good, but it's not something i usually listen to.

I just got into it. I really like Lupe Fiasco, Eminem has a few okay songs, and I could listen to freakin Soulja Boy if it was mixed with any classic rock hit.

I've heard good things about Immortal Technique and I'm interested. What would people say are his best songs?
It started in mud, as many things do.

^ Immortal Technique has some bad-ass songs, I will say that. I listened to Bush Knocked Down The Towers a LOT of time when I was younger. Though I am a 9/11 truther that fell out of new research regarding 9/11 truth. So I may have my biases. Regarding 9/11 truth, his stuff he said on 'bush knocked down the towers'? The stand-down order by dick cheney and whatnot is true. 9/11 WAS AN INSIDE JOB

Bush Knocked Down The Towers http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UvqP9wTv_20

Point of No Return http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Igt-jW4e8ts&feature=related

Cause of Death http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CWh077_Ed3w

EDIT: lol @ the 'stuff white people like' link. It's funny to see how these guys on this other forums were dissin Soulja Boy and talking about old-skool rap. Some dude posted that with the caption 'OH U'

EDIT 2: IMO the BEST song Immortal Technique made. The remix of Bin Laden [bush knocked down the towers]

The opening is FUCK YEAH level. The "Affirmative action ain't reverse discrimination, that shit is a pathetic excuse for reparations" quote is AWESOME. cool

^^ Uhhhh. Huhhhh. Okay.

Well, regardless of his politics, Immortal Technique is pretty average. With one major exception: Dance With The Devil.
