I don't see why it can't be more obvious. Both Yukari Tamura and Nana Mizuki are convinced that their characters are meant to be in a relationship. The Sound Stages sank Yuunoha, with Fate taking the traditional father role while Nanoha takes the traditional mother role. Why can't they make it canon instead of it being in this "practically-canon-but-it-isn't" limbo state?

EDIT: In a slight twist of fate, no pun intended, Vivio and Yuuno share the same seiyuu.

Well, how much do the VA's really have to say?

Why can't they make it canon instead of it being in this "practically-canon-but-it-isn't" limbo state?

To please both bases. I hate it, too. I don't care for Yuri, I don't care for fanservice, I just like this couple. Because it fits and the dynamic is really good. And I'd really like it getting treated seriously and not this ambiguous teasing bullshit

Yes Smokie, precisely what I think too.

That's a tricky question to ask. Mayhap it's Executive Meddling somewhere that prevents outright Nanofate action from being shown onscreen? Granted, the ribbon exchange at the end of season 1 was already Yuri enough.

I don't know why either. It's not like explicitly lesbian relationships are unheard of.

Having said that, it would be mere formality at this stage in the game. I really can't see the writers abandoning ship, and I'm sure it wouldn't be in their interests to do so.

They share a bed and adopt a daughter. You'd have to be socially retarded or blind not to notice that at the very least something is going on here...

Yuunoha is the only other pairing which remotely has a chance. Remotely, may I stress, because Yuuno pops up in StrikerS once, at the auction, I think. That's pretty much it. Though we do get the obvious thrown at us at the A's epilogue, but I still say adopting Vivio and sleeping together is it.

EDIT: Come to think of it, Smokie could be referring to two bases, which are:

  • NanoFate should be canon because it's worth being canon
  • NanoFate is just being exaggerated and being blown out of proportion, but it isn't like we don't like it anyway

EDIT-EDIT: Shit, I totally forgot that my friend just gave me his USB stick with a copy of Magical Battle Arena in it. Oh well, that's for another day I guess.

You'd need a DSV as of Vivid to excavate that, surely.

That's really loooong gone. It's so over it's not even funny anymore...

Has he had one appearance since Strikers?

There are some rare people who actually prefer hetero pairings like Yuuno X Nanoha. Although many of them are trolls.

No idea if he popped up post-StrikerS.

He appears in the epilogue outside Vivio's classroom with Nanoha. This gave hope to Yuunoha shippers briefly, when they thought that Fate was out of the running, being busy on deep space missions.

Oh riiiiight. I forgot about that one. But it makes sense in a non-romantic context because by Sound Stage X, Vivio is a librarian at the Infinity Library.

If you want me to state the pairing I prefer, it's Yuunoha.

If you want me to state the pairing I think makes sense based on what has happened in the canon, it's Nanofei.

It's mainly because I had been expecting Yuunoha ever since season 1, up until all the Ship Tease stuff for Nanofei in Strikers and the supplementary materials. (The stuff for Nanoha and Fate in A's I thought was more about Being Friends, and they would soon include Hayate into their circle of friends.)

So I accept Nanofei and have no problems with it, but I can't honestly say that I prefer it over Yuunoha. It's entirely subjective.

(It's very weird to use the portmanteau couple names. However, there's all sorts of really complicated rules for using other symbols.)

*reads BetrayerS*

...dammit, that's all? It just leaves off with the formation of Chrono and Vivio's faction? :(

Well, I hadn't thought so much of the canon characters being divided — my civil war plot bunny involved everyone staying on the TSAB's side more or less blindly, then being forced to question whether that was really a good idea, and whether the "rebel insurrection" may have been right about their allegations.

Though I also had the cause be tensions that had been building up for years (I hadn't decided on the details), rather than a reversal of policy on the TSAB's own part wrt physical weapons. (I did want to do some questioning of just how nonviolent magic really is.)

Well, I already knew that plotbunny wouldn't have been workable anyway, not least because the one OC I could think of would've been pretty Stu-ish. I'll stick with the plotbunny that actually is doable.

This.

The problem I would have with Yuunoha isn't that it's hetero, it's that we'd be expected to accept this relationship without being shown much in the way of its development, making it a bit of an Informed Romance.

First season was practically a Rescue Romance, the second...okay, the second didn't have a whole load of Nanoha x Fate moments, but you don't get a lot of Nanoha x Yuuno either. And we know what happens in the third, so...

EDIT: Whoa. Look at the post number. evil grin

Going back to BetrayerS, I reread the high definition scans and here are some things I noticed:

Teana is with the TSAB and Subaru is with Fate. They're on opposing factions.

Now, here's my WMG:

wild mass guess Hayate Yagami actually instilled the coup d'etat to put her Xanatos Gambit of cleaning the TSAB up into motion (the risk was freeing Jail Scaglietti). She was forced to act due to Genya Nakajima's murder.

Signum's words "This is when the plan truly begins" comes after Chrono announced that the Saint Church was separating from the TSAB along with them. Perhaps it was in Hayate's plan to rid the corruption in the TSAB by destroying it entirely and replacing it with something else.

Agito's words are also significant. "... you guys are taking the most disadvantageous roles in this plan." Agito is referring to Hayate's group with the TSAB, because they will soon be hated by everybody for being BetrayerS.

The icing on the cake is Carim musing if this "was what you (Hayate) really wanted?" and of Gil Graham easily dismissing Teana as his adjutant, as well as saying flatly that "we were all dancing on top of her, that's girl's (Hayate's) open palm."

Lastly, the separatist mages under Fate, like Erio, Caro, and Subaru, and including Fate herself, have no idea of this plan Hayate is sitting on. wild mass guess

...

DAMMIT I WANT MORE. I want to see a 'Keikaku doori' moment from Hayate. Pleaseeeeeeeeeeeeee. grin

It was kind of going in that general direction, before being discontinued. As it is now, it's mostly just Darker and Edgier Striker S. There may possibly have been more political stuff planned for later at some stage. But it was probably still more beam spam, less tense board room manoeuvring.

If the person in question is already a mecha fan, especially Super Robot Wars, I think this video might help. It hits most of the major ShoutOuts in Strikers.
