@L: ...With a 1/4 rate of inheritance with 12 kids, you'd expect 3, not 4, to inherit. 4 is 1/3 of 12 and 4 is 1/4 of 16.

RE: Other Settings with Exalted Rules: Star Wars. Jedi function like modified Solars or Siddies and Sith function like modified Abyssals or Infernals, probably the second for both and maybe giving the players a choice. Force users who were never found by the Jedi or Sith could function as Ronin Siddies or Renegade Abyssals, depending on if they mainly use Light Side or Dark Side powers. Some robots could be Alchies.

Actually thinking about it that does mesh with his fall/redemption thing a lot better.

Also Solar Anakin would probably be a lot less whiny than Canon Anakin.

You know what always sat well with me? Not didn't but did. That the Infernals were working with burrowed power. That they were telling their stories with the legends and parables of the Yozi shaping how they could do it. I liked that.

The Solars, arguably, use the Sun's power, but they give the impression of being awesome on their own merit. An Infernal channeling raw Isidorian essence doesn't give a damn about his own personal skills in Endurance and Integrity, although that certainly helps. He has the power of the Nomad Force, The Black Boar That Twists The Sky. He gets to toss his head back and scream that and I found that fuckin' awesome. He get's to use Izzy's power and at the same time tell him to screw off. Awesome.

Mind you, some things I didn't like and would change. We've been over it before, Reclamation is a sham, except for Eddie. The rest of the Yozi just want to live vicariously through your story and are quite willing to let you use them as tools in the process. Whenever you use a Malfean charm to punch someone into the sky and then they explode into nuclear nightmares, you get to feel like you just used power [given to you by/stolen from] the thing the setting legitimately calls THE DEMON EMPEROR. Malfeas, sitting uncomfortably in his brass throne, gets to feel like he used you to just punch a dude so hard he exploded. Everyone walks away happy and you still feel awesome.

And you're not using the charms that the Yozi are made of. Through the shared Titanic Essence grafted on by the Once-King Of The Primordials to a stolen Solar shard, you channel the raw essence of one or more of the titans, and emulate in charms what they would do with sorcery and raw expenditures of essence.

The way I see it, that's kind of what you're doing anyway. Primordials come about fully formed. They don't have charms so much as a big list of shit they can do. The charms in Infernals and BWC just kinda codify that power into graspable chunks.

The Yozis being made of charms and the Yozis channeling their energy through charmlike patterns is, from the perspective of anyone but another primordial, the same damn thing.

I think something similar happens with Gods. The Alchemicals book has a throwaway line about how the alchemicals call their excellencies augmentations because that's the original nomenclature Autochthon used when he designed them. This doesn't make much sense, however, if you remember that gods and primordials both have excellencies too, and they predate alchemicals by an enormous margin. Then it hit me. Gods don't see their excellencies as charms. It's just them throwing essence at stuff related to their purview. It's just how they work.

Also one must bear in mind that in order to alter a primodials charmset you have to kill/mutilate their souls, which implies that said charms are firmly rooted in their identity.

Maybe Primordials see everything as a charm. Got a body? That's your Shintai. Attributes and Abilities? Crappy sub-excellencies lesser beings have to use instead of just doing whatever it is they want to perfectly.

And since they're really just chunks of chaos that decided to shape themselves into existence, you could argue that a charm is really just an ongoing sorcerous effect that grants a persistent or repeatable ability, both of which have precedent in the books.

So you could argue that all Primodial magic is a sort of sorcery, and that they're made of charms, and that they're just indescribable beings using power in certain patterns all at the same time.

How well does it work on essence 10 sorcery?

Spell-Shattering Palm works perfectly well. Especially considering that it's PAOC and when using it you're Essence 10 too.

I don't think it would work, honestly, because the way I see it sorcery is raw code while a charm is a sealed executable you can't edit anymore. A sorcerous charm is kind of a code that writes more code and you can counter the sub-codes but not destroy the original charm.

Books mention that Exalted used Charms to counter sorcerous effects before they got actual Sorcery. So: it works.

It works on sorcery, yeah. I was responding to 3 of 4 asking if he could use my "primordial charms (and therefore primordials) were made with sorcery" idea to countermagic the primordial itself.

Team YOZI

A group of particularly violent faunus, bounded together by a shared sense of loss and a hatred for the upstart humanity. Truthfully, they've all been mentally shattered, and are used as weapons of terror by the White Fang.

Maleficent Yridian The Green Sun
Race: Hawk
Weapon: Brass Dancer, full body power armor with wrist mounted flame throwers, rocket elbow, rocket feet and a jetpack.
Semblance: Demon Emperor, pyrokinesis. Every flame she controls turns green.
Appearance: Two ugly scars mar her shoulders, her eyes are glowing neon green, tanned, her hair is short and green.
History: She lived in a place where human-faunus violence was still high and brutal, and frontier justice was the only justice. Once, her family ruled quite a lot of land, herself the newly appointed head of the house, but in retaliation to one ancient slight she lost her home, her fortune, her husband and daughter, and her wings. Now she is quite mad. Angry and insane.

Oriana Argent The Silver Mirror
Race: Cat
Weapon: Kagami, a very odd machine, a technological marvel, reflecting the shattered genius of its wielder. It is capable of being every weapon possible, but it has no means to become any on its own. It needs another nearby weapon to imitate, clicking and rearranging all the right shiny silver pieces into place.
Semblance: Mirror Forest, copies other's Semblances, with a silver sheen!
Appearance: Long glossy silver hair, silver eyes, silver ears, pale skin.
History: Once a child in the poor ghettos far outside proper civilzation, all she ever had was a mirror and a lot of imagination. She preen herself, imagining herself as someone else, follow along behind other people, pretending to be them, and looking at different machines, postulating how one might make them into one super machine. Then bad men came, rounding up faunus and tossing them into prisons. She was thrown into a dark hole where she cracked her mirror, and her head. When the White Fang liberated them, she came out of the dark changed.

Sanguin Zephyr The Crimson Scourge
Race: Wolf
Weapon: Splintered Gale, a pair of scimitar that can be put together to make a bow. Uses wind crystals to increase cutting power or create "air-rows" for the bow. They also have the advantage of cancelling noise.
Semblance: Silent Wind
Appearance: Long red hair the billows in the wind, red eyes, red ears, tail, the works. Lightly tanned skin.
History: Some very bad men killed his sister, his only family, in some very bad ways, right in front of him too and everything, her screams filling his ears. They were about to do the same to him as well, but he managed to loosen his bonds and run away. He ran away and never looked back, leaving it all behind, love, empathy, restraint. He dislikes sound, because it will make him forget his sister's screaming. He forgets all other bonds, except with the dead.

   Isabelle Coal    The Black Boar
Race: Boar
Weapon: Sky Twister, a pair of gauntlets that absorb kinetic energy, releasing their stores at her command to terrible force.
Semblance: Nomad Force, Super-Strength and Super-Toughness to make an Implacable Man and The Juggernaut.
Appearance: Dark brown skin, black eyes, black hair in an afro and big under canines jutting out from her lower lip. Her gauntlets have chains hanging off of them.
History: They chained her, they dared chain her. She once bound free, without restraint, careless of walls or people or property and they took exception to that. And they chained her, like an animal that could be brought to heel! When she was freed by the gracious White Fang, she vowed never to be bound again, that she would destroy all the boundaries of humanity and faunus would run free, laughing and killing without restraint!

I think that any player who manages to hijack it...or any HM who launches it and doesn't say this while doing it deserves to be pelted with cookies.

The world is a malignant tumor, rife with the sins of the damned and the greed of those who swore to provide the righteous defense of existence. Corruption and filth rots the heart of Creation, pulling wealth and power into itself as madmen plot to attain the throne of the world's so-called savior, even as the lies of demons and fair folk seduce the innocent and guilty alike into unholy bargains. Ancient terrors from the past seek to lead men astray, and the living turn away from the counsel of their elders and the wisdom of their ancestors for petulant deities and unspeakable pretenders.

The whispers of Hell and the Wyld would damn mmankind. Silence Them!
The bastards of the Dragons build armies and castles for themselves alone. Shatter Them!
The blood of countless innocents, living and deceased, cry for justice. Avenge Them!
