Argh!

And hilarious.

Edit- Wait where did you find out it wasn't true. Because everywhere I look it still says Joss is getting on like donkey kong.

Okay then I am watching this, well if it is true.

I'm not excited.

I've never been excited about an Avengers Movie. I've rarely been excited about an Avengers comic.

Do you know what happens when a script is tweaked by Joss Whedon?

Same thing as when scripts are tweaked by anyone else.

Waifish-looking action girls will be added to have a significant role in the plot (and will, no doubt, be the ensemble darkhorse if they aren't the main character) and people will be dying left, right and centre for little explained reasons?

I take it you weren't a fan of Astonishing X-Men.

I would've said Volume 2 of Runaways, but almost everyone agrees Volume 2 was weaker than Volume 1 anyway.

Well, the thing about that is, it's the comics. They can come along at any point and say "oh wait, that never happened, they were doombots, or skrulls or whatever", whereas this movie has the potential to take out any future sequels to Iron man, Captain America, the hulk and Thor with their respective casts. Which would be bad, because the Iron man movie made people love tony stark even after the idiocy that was civil war. And Whedon usually just does the same thing over and over again. Quippy dialogue, ridiculously overpowered waif-ish girls, reusing the same actors over and over again for said waifs, the list goes on...

And why are they giving this gimp control of what'll probably end up being the biggest film of the decade? What has he done recently, as a director, that succeeded? Firefly? no. Dollhouse? fuck no, even after fox canceled a superior show to give it a second season. Serenity, his big debut film as a director? no and that was essentially just a longer episode of firefly.

And it's never his fault when something goes wrong with one of his things, whether he's a writer or a director, is it? Oh no. Alien: resurrection was the cast's fault! Ron Perlman must of fucked it up. Or Sigourney Weaver! Dollhouse got screwed by fox, nevermind the second season that the ratings sure as hell didn't justify. Bugger. Whedon inspires furious nerd rage.

Umm, what exactly is your definition of "waif"? Cause, while Joss has got a thing for young women with superpowers, River's the only one I can think of who was particularly waifish.

Guys as Mac Phisto said we are moving all this to The Advenger's Thread. So follow the yellow brick link.

I'm not sure there is a rule about that, Mc Phisto's rant aside, the title of this thread is much clearer and conversation seems to have caught on here.

Last woman standing
Yes but I don't want to be on the recieving end of Mac Phisto's ire and besides the other topic heading will allow for just general Avengers talk when the time arises.

Reverse the Curse
Not to entertain for a moment the possibility that Allecto isn't batshit, but Whedon has a fondness for shattering powerful girls that I find disturbing. And I say that as someone who genuinely liked Bt VS (shut up, I was fifteen and in my duster-wearing-sadists-are-hot-phase) and adored Dr. Horrible and Firefly.

While I don't hate Whedon's work, I definitely don't like it, and I'd prefer to see Jon Favreau direct it. Doesn't mean Whedon can't do a sequel, but this series needs a strong start and I don't think he can give it that.
94. Grandmaster of Shark
Meh.

The only way this could work wold be if Whedon leaves his ego out and doesn't try to affix his own style on the Avengers.
