Locked Pages: Lock, UnLock and Edit requests

Go To

This thread is for requesting edits or unlocks to Locked Pages or for requesting locks. It can also be used for technical requests to moderators such as:

  • creating new pages in the Main/ and other restricted namespaces without going through Trope Launch Pad
  • moving discussion pages
  • moving reviews

Please keep the following guidelines in mind:

  1. Check Locked Pages and Permanent Red Link Club first. They can provide guidance on what are good and bad requests.
  2. Include working links in your request to the page(s) in question.
  3. If asking for edits, state your changes exactly as they should appear on the page, including proper Example Indentation, namespacing, and pothole and quote formatting. And make sure that what you want to add is actually a valid example.
  4. We do not edit archived articles, even to correct links.
  5. If you need to have the capitalization of a page title or namespace of a work fixed, ask here.
  6. If you need to remove a ghost wick, go here.
  7. To request a page to be moved along with its history, go here.
  8. Some locked pages have ongoing cleanup threads, like Complete Monster (Thread), Five-Man Band (Thread), and Magnificent Bastard (Thread). Other than purely technical requests, edits to these pages ought to be discussed in these threads first.
  9. Also, we do not do direct edits (other than changing wicks) to Magnificent Bastard or Complete Monster example lists. Rather, you need to do the edit to a sandbox page that follows the format Sandbox.Magnificent Bastard<Name of the example subpage> and Sandbox.Monster<Name of the example subpage> (e.g for Monster.Disney it's Sandbox.Monster Disney) and ask for it to be swapped in on Saturday for Magnificent Bastard and on Monday for Complete Monster.
  10. Inappropriate pages that keep being recreated, pages banned under The Content Policy and subpages that are disallowed (like Headscratchers pages for tropes) are valid reasons for requesting page locks.

NOTE: Edited with OP's permission.

How to Move a Page should help with the problem. Once you've moved the pages yourself (and you don't need to edit the old pages for this), you can come here to get the Main/ pages redirected.

A link for Wall Bangers.WrestleMania should be added to Wall Bangers.WWE and Wall Bangers.Professional Wrestling pages.

There Is No Such Thing As Notability should probably be moved to the Administrivia/ namespace.

In regards to the Naruto character page: If there's not meant to be spoilers, than okay, but if it's is decided to be added: Died performing a Heroic Sacrifice in the Fourth Shinobi World War, so has become the only member of the Konoha 12 to have died.

Also, there's two unneeded square parentheses at the end of Tenten's biography.

I have copied YKTTW Guidelines, Works Pages Are A Free Launch and Naming A Trope to the Administrivia/ namespace. Apparently there's no point trying to change the policy of this thread.

Can the line at the bottom of Accidental Nightmare Fuel (the "put examples in Nightmare Fuel") be centered and !!-ed like the one on Kuudere?

If the current examples for Hunter The Vigil (The Hunt Club and the slashers) could be removed from the tabletop games subpage for CM and replaced with the entry below.

  • In Hunter The Vigil you can expect to deal with the very worst that the supernatural world can throw at you. Yet as the following slashers and cultists establish, sometimes you don't need to be a vampire or a werewolf to be truly heinous:
    • Larry Meeks, alias Captain Hook. A small, pudgy, uninspiring man, Larry runs a bait shop, dresses like he's going on a fishing expedition and has a fanatical hatred of anybody he thinks is better looking, more successful, or stronger then he is. A murderer since the age of fifteen, when he first determined to "prove himself", Larry baits in his victims with kindness, playing the role of the favourite neighbour or kindly uncle. Once he's won their confidence, he then subdues them with a gaffhook, and hangs them up in his fishing shack with thousands of tiny fish hooks embedded in their skin. Slowly draining his victims of blood over the course of several days, Larry then guts and cleans them "just like a pretty trout." Active for years, a recent invitation from the Subtle Collectors' Association (a cabal of like-minded killers) has convinced Larry that it is time to up his game, and he plans to move onto still bigger and better targets in the hopes of impressing upon his compatriots the is the best. Totally consumed by his need to hurt people, Larry spends most of his off time talking to his customers about his murders, using fishing metaphors to obscure what he's really going on about.
    • Harvey Ecks, known variously as The Rest Stop Killer, The Torso Maker, and (his preferred sobriquet) The Driver, had a dream when he was still in the womb. In it, he learned that by understanding the Dream Pattern, he would be able to gain total control over all reality. In his quest to achieve this goal, Harvey discovered that by forcing people to watch their limbs being amputated, he could make them reveal pieces of the Pattern. Once a roving killer who left headless torsos at rest stops, Harvey decided that this was too inefficent. Staking out a patch of the interstate highway, Harvey brainwashed diner waitresses, gas station attendents, and state troopers into blindly serving him, then installed video surveillance cameras on billboards. When he sights a likely victim, he forces his servants (who know him only as The Driver) to help him capture that person, whom he then tortures to death in the hopes that they will reveal more of the Pattern.
    • Thomas Salvatore, the head chef and owner of the Epicurean Club, and leader of the Pate de Fois Gras cult. A would-be chef, and gourmand, Salvatore was never able to get his restaurants to work. At least not until he'd visited Papua New Guinea and gained a taste for "long pig". Returning home, Salvatore recruited a gang of equally amoral chefs, purchased Briarwood Farms, and used it to raise his food of choice—human children. Keeping the kids locked in filthy cages, Salvatore and his compatriots force the children to bulk up on food and stimulants, before cutting out their livers and serving them to their patrons, none of whom have a clue what they are eating. Determined that he will be known as one of the world's greatest chefs, Salvatore plans to ride his new-found success all the way to the top—no matter how many children he has to butcher in the process.

This is a hit-and-run request and I'm in a bit of a hurry, so I don't know if someone's already posted this...

The lead on The Lonely Island states that Andy Samberg is a "current" cast member on Saturday Night Live. He's not—he quit this season. I don't know if Shaffer and Taccone have also quit, or remain as writers, but someone should check before the edit is made.

Add to YMMV.Naruto:

  • Harsher in Hindsight: The bloodline purges in Mist village were bad enough when we were first introduced to them by Haku, whose family was torn apart by them, but later we learn that they were orchestrated by Tobi, manipulating the 4th Mizukage, who had a very big grudge against the Hidden Mist since they were responsible for Rin's death. Suddenly, the genocide and civil war take on a whole other layer of meaning as a senseless and cruel act of Disproportionate Retribution.

I'd go with the general subjective section personally.

Per discussion in the Complete Monster clean-up, please replace the existing example in Live-Action TV for Jim Moriarty from Sherlock with this one:

  • Sherlock's Jim Moriarty, the world's first consulting criminal, is also the most vile person Sherlock's ever come across. His whole M.O. can be boiled down to him wanting Sherlock to notice him... on the occasions he isn't just incredibly bored with life. As a Foil to Sherlock, he also has the insane genius to pull off such complicated plots as stealing the crown jewels, opening the vault in the Bank of England, and releasing thousands from prison - and then, at his own trial, threatening the jurors via television to let him go free. He has no respect for human life, either, as one of his plans involved kidnapping two children, doing something unknown to make one of them terrified of Sherlock, and then poisoning them with mercury during the ordeal. He's strapped children, senior citizens, and Watson to bombs, murdered said senior citizen (and eleven others) for trying to describe her insane kidnapper to Sherlock. The worst part of his crimes is that the world believes Sherlock is the worse monster, as Moriarty framed Sherlock as a complete fraud of an investigator, pawned off most of his crimes onto Sherlock, and then shot himself to ensure that no one would ever know... and to force Sherlock to kill himself.

1. In Adolf Hitler, the reference to The Boys from Brazil should be moved to the Literature/ namespace.

2. Speaking of Adolf Hitler, I think the whole page should be moved to Useful Notes/.

There seems to be a consensus in the Complete Monster cleanup to cut Hyperion from Immortals from the Film page for being a Well-Intentioned Extremist.

On Wikipedia, please add:

  • Early-Installment Weirdness: This can often be seen by checking the edit history of an older article. Early Wikipedia articles didn't have wikilinks, categories, images, or footnotes. Very early articles (dating back to 2001) actually used a CamelCase wikilink style akin to what TV Tropes uses instead of the now-widespread markup used on nearly every other wiki.
