Countdown to Brotherhood: first anime episodes 5/6
- FMA has the absolute CUTEST little kids. This was one ep before Nina, and a lot more before May in Brotherhood.
- HUUUUUUGHES~<3
- And Kamin—I mean Falman! Fight the power, dude.
- So apparently, Travis kept screwing up Hakuro's name, and only got it right the very last time.XD
- Awwww, big brothers!
- Shooting at Al — Dumbest. Idea. EVER.
- Ed is definitely not Mario. Thank god for Maes.
- And the writers were surprised this guy was near the top of popularity lists...
- "Attention terrorists!" XD
- Bald was double humiliated. First by Ed, then by Roy. Why didn't they show this in Brotherhood again?
- Roy Mustang — crafty Chessmaster from the word go.
- This episode contains epic amounts of cute. You have been warned.
- Shao? o_o
- Love this series' excellent use of English.
- Doggy Dynamic Entry! "You know that's bad Alexander~"
- NIIIIINAAAAAA~
I accurately guessed Brina Palencia as Chopper because of Nina, she sounds adorable.
- The snow scene is made of absolute cute.
- This part of the episode was probably borrowed from the Rush Valley arc.
- "Well, the baby says NO, and I'm pretty sure SHE gets to choose!"
- Poor little kids under 12 panicking over a woman in labor.XD
- And somehow, out comes baby Elysia. Awwww.
- LOL, stuffing the dog in Al's armor.^^;
- Darn it, I love "Brothers".^^
- "It's a circle to help your wish~" Why am I tearing up...?
- "Magic Flowers~!" Moment of Awesome? I think so.
edited 31st Oct '09 11:27:22 PM by Pika Hikari KT Pretty obvious, really.
Heh, I'm watching it too.
"Well, the baby says NO, and I'm pretty sure SHE gets to choose!"
That never fails to make me laugh.
"The Alchemy Exam" is my second favorite episode of the first series, first being "Flame vs. Fullmetal" of course. Even though Brotherhood's version gives a Moment of Awesome to Winry, I love when the kids are all alone with Gracia and worried sick on what to do.XD

Pregnancies are always prime lulz-fuel.
And though "Flame vs. Fullmetal" may win on the humour front, my personal favorite has to be "Sealing The Homonculus" if only for the amazing animation...and the whole "Ed transmuting a buttload of guns onto his automail" scene.
The program I use to watch the stream is showing something else, not to mention I heard one of the commercials had a clip of Olivia's voice.>____<
"So apparently, Travis kept screwing up Hakuro's name, and only got it right the very last time.XD"
"Shao? o_o"
Yeah, uhm... I can only presume that whoever translates the show doesn't bother to give the director a pronunciation guide, and they don't review the original voice work before recording, so they make up the pronunciations upon reading the script. Anyone got a better theory?
I would have used a nifty quote box like everybody else, but this editor only gives me smilies for some reason.
In other words, a strange case of No Pronunciation Guide. Good thing things start to look up in episode 8.
The best damn water.
I would have used a nifty quote box like everybody else, but this editor only gives me smilies for some reason.
You have to type it in yourself. For example, to get the quote above, I just wrote the following (albeit with the middle bit copypasted):
[[quoteblock]]I would have used a nifty quote box like everybody else, but this editor only gives me smilies for some reason.[[/quoteblock]]
When all is said and done, everyone will be a lame mute.
Wait, what's going on now?
We were just talking about the first anime.^^;
But then the program I use to watch the streams suddenly changed. Frigging DST, even when I get the Fall Back thing right for once it still doesn't give me a break.
EDIT: Brotherhood 30... Kimblee's sicker moments were cut (though the episode is still depressing as hell), but we do get to see him mentally torture poor Hawkeye. The "VENGEANCE" thing was awesome too...didn't notice it when I first read the chapter.^^;

Am I the only person having problems watching Ep. 30 on Funimation's site?
I was able to watch it right away, though the upload was a bit late today — apparently, there was a power outage at Funi home base. Probably the traffic jam known as the internet.
Not Link
"Sigh"...you know what? Fuck it!
edited 5th Nov '09 10:24:41 PM by Nexus Ed's image songs made their way to YT, finally ...now that solo definitely makes Ed's hotbloodedness shine! I'm kinda reminded of Ready Steady Go to be honest...
I couldn't watch it on Funi yesterday either, but it works now.
Anyway, good episode blah blah. I like Hawkeye, so it was good to see her get some development.

I loved this ep. Kimblee is explosives Jesus.
"Whatever doesn't kill you, only makes you stranger!"- The Joker
El Cid
The ads are gone from the episodes, yay! At least the one I watched, hopefully they don't come back.
It was really neat to see the origins of the relationship between Mustang and Hawkeye. And I'm really curious to see what significance the sigils on her back will have.
I have to get used to watching the whole ending. Lately there have always been stingers of plot after the ending song.
Countdown to Brotherhood: episodes 7/8
- Mustang: Here, catch. *tosses watch* Congrats, kid; we're gonna be in a fandom rivalry for the next 6 years now.
- Foreshadowing...and more foreshowing!
- Havoc: Roy's not gonna become Fuhrer or anything, what are you getting at?
- "Let em have it Daddy!" GOD, THE CUTE BURNS!
- "I told you, She Is Not My Girlfriend!"
- Dawww, 5 year old kid drawing.
- He burnt it, that jerk! Ed immediately suspects everything.
- SCAR! Nice cameo...
- That's right, connect those dots. I remember that I figured it out by The Reveal.
- The broadcast dub edited most of Scar's BOOM HEADSHOTS. And quite inconsistent with it.
- Hey, it's Gran!
- "We'll come play with you again real soon." *wince*
- No...and the truth comes out.;____;
- God, that monologue. Kuuuukukukukuuuu~
- Cover it up indeed, the bastard becomes a supporting character later.
- Scar's voice sounds lighter than I remembered...the fact he shared Cell's VA might have something to do with it.
- You can tell Vic didn't put his all into that last scene. Boy does that change in the next ep.
- One of the episodes that modifies the ending footage to match. Nina...
- Roy, you have a bit of a point, but you're being a jerk to a preteen.
- What An Idiot. God, Havoc!
- Hi Scar~ Ed should thank his lucky stars he didn't have his watch.
- Winry-Bradley introduction chain!
- "I've seen that picture a dozen times!" I should start linking to some YT clips...
- Here's a fine case of dub-only Larynx Dissonance. Easy to tell it's a guy (and in the original there's still something off about Barriko), but still impressive.
- Damn, Anime!Ed's good at this detective work.
- Why hello thar Jerry Jewell. Plays an excellent psychopath...but has a surprising singing voice too, as One Piece fans once found out.
- From here, Vocal Evolution is in full effect for Vic. The Tear Jerker I posted is from this episode, so I consider this the dub's turning point.
- They refer to Bradley by his first name instead of his title sometimes. Weird.
- Scar's stalking you Ed...

Every time I see Hughes.
OH GOD MAN VOICE
Eww, Barry's...kinda girly-looking. :/
edited 7th Nov '09 11:18:27 PM by Electivirus Eww, Barry's...kinda girly-looking. :/
Heh, no wonder he made a good crossdresser.XD
Pretty obvious, really.
If you ignored the blatant man-voice.
Also worth noting that I missed the first few episodes of the original anime, so this was all new for me. :D
edited 7th Nov '09 11:44:52 PM by Electivirus My stream's working again (or at least playing the proper anime)! Episode 31 is a go!
EDIT: Knocs' (I know, why the official subs spelled it that way I'll never know) storyline comes to a heartwarming close, and we see two sharp looking men (my female instincts are kicking in, don't mind me). With Fu, I am reminded of Snake.
edited 8th Nov '09 12:34:35 AM by Pika Hikari KT So that's Kimblee. (Yeah, I know he was in the first episode and the flashback in the last episode, but this is his real introduction.)
The thing with the "bomb" makes me think of the Joker.
Her with the hat
Kimblee is one of my favourite bugfuck insane-o types. I mean, yeah, he does some horrible, horrible things, but man, he's so incredibly entertaining doing them.
I cannot wait for a number of the manga!Kimblee scenes that will be animated now.
UFOs are real. The Air Force doesn't exist.
Countdown to Brotherhood: episodes 9/10
- Caitlin Glass does the cutest squees!
- Ah, Youswell. The other chapter Brotherhood left out.
- Did Winry forget about the house burning incident?
- What, 2000?! THERE'S NO WAY THAT CAN BE RIGHT!
- Power abuse FTW~
- Just Ed's luck he gets kicked out.
- "I wish you'd think about my human parts as well as my metal ones..."
- Yoki! And a Chekhov's Gunwoman voiced by Monica Rial!
- Coincidential DBZ Raging Blast commercial...I mean really, SS3 for BROLY? Yikes.
- Ed's a smart kid alright...
- "This place...it's both our home and our coffin."
- Oh Ed, you sneaky devil. Yay for loopholes!
- Roy: Just as planned.
- LOL, short joke to end it off.
- Nice, poker game between the brothers. And Ed wins.XD
- So this should be after Liore.
- Oh, of course Ed cheated the card game.:p
- Looks like this detective's more of a Zenigata than Runge...
- Afraid Of Needles, Ed?XD
- Aww, Trisha flashback.
- Oh, and Claire's totally not Psiren.
- FAAAAANSERVIIIIICE~
- "YOU KNOW, I'D BE TALL TOO IN HEELS!"
- Al's so easily sympathetic, but now's not really the time.
- BOOM, hospital destroyed!
- Aaaand now she's a nun.o_0
- BOOM, church destroyed!
- Teacher Claire! All 3 are male fantasies, in case you didn't notice.
- ...You know, I just realized how ironic it is that Ed's chasing a phantom thief when he was once one himself!XD
- Xenotime huh? Guess next week's the Will The Real Bros. Elric Please Stand Up day. I actually have the light novel of that story.
