If they truly want a fair judgment about the ability of the voice actress, why not make it really anonymous (with performance only announced by their number of appearance) ? That way, it would be less a popularity contest and more an ability contest.
If they were to do that, then it would defeat the purpose of proving that Miho was chosen fairly.
They could go and claim any of them was Miho, then.

She memorized the script. Such dedication.
That also ensures she'll give a more honest performance.
ARCHITECT POWAHHH! Will soon be posting as 'Firebird'... [[http://tinyurl.com/ttwiktlk Wiki Talk SubforYou seem to be assuming that the fans can't recognize their favorite actors by voice. Which is a very weird assumption.
@Violet Orange: That would be a good idea if the role was being cast by the professionals from the ranks of novice voice actresses. Physical appearance shouldn't matter for voice acting.
But the specific appeal here to the producers is to boost interest in the show by letting the prospective audience see who's auditioning, thus anonymous auditions would be losing the point.
I notice Ririka doesn't seem to be in the audition pool. I'm guessing she doesn't want to get in any more trouble. (Besides, this might be a great opportunity to try out for other roles across town.)
While Naho doesn't seem to be the sort of character with agency that many of us internet-active fans like, she is apparently a plum role in the sense that she's got lots of lines and voice actresses like to have steady work.
Hmm...what if Miho has never actually read the script and didn't notice that the dialogue is subtly changed from the manga?

Maybe she does end up reciting a different script and it turns out to be much better than the "official" one. XD
Or it could be a small plot device for the authors to troll Ashirogi Muto.
That's one thing I could see coming. I don't know if they'll extend the manga for a bit longer, but that would be so dickish a method if that happens.
Part of me says it won't happen like that, but the other part...
Have you ever danced with tropes on the pale moonlight? This could happen instead:
- Reality Ensues, and one of the voice actors other than Azuki is chosen ability-wise. The mangakas can't do anything about it, and Kaya suggests they stop the manga out of spite. Then;
- Mashiro tells Azuki and/or the whole of Japan/Takagi and wife "Remember, I promised we'll kiss and get married if we got an anime with you as the heroine's voice. I'm gonna have to break that promise." Flashback to Mashiro thinking about the similarities to him and Azuki AND his uncle and Mrs. Azuki, and him resolving to actually end up marrying her.
- Azuki does end up getting another female main character role [after they do hook up, maybe]. Said character turns out to be very popular, because Azuki is more perfect for the role.
Just a guess.
ARCHITECT POWAHHH! Will soon be posting as 'Firebird'... [[http://tinyurl.com/ttwiktlk Wiki Talk SubforDoesn't sound too bad, except that they made such a build-up about Azuki and her work. If it's handled badly, it's gonna look pretty bad and the arc will be made completely moot, not to mention utterly pointless for the plot at large.
Have you ever danced with tropes on the pale moonlight? Not only is that out of character, they were planning on ending Reversi soon anyway, remember? Write the best manga they can, with the best ending they can rather than drawing it out.
Which of course can be thought of on a meta level too.
Yeah. I think it may be the author duo intention when they created Death Note. Despite its popularity, it ended relatively early, if compared with other Jump titles.
Or, alternatively, the meta level is them saying that this manga's going to end soon.
"Canada Day is over, and now begins the endless dark of the Canada Night."@Out of character: I considered that. I thought of the theory while waking up.
It could be a passing thought, or what someone may have thought fleetingly...

MIHO WON THAT DAMN AUDITION!!!

Thank the gods. Now end this series and call it a day. Dream fulfilled, happily married will soon enough follow, very little interesting to follow after this besides the same stuff that we've already seen.
Actually, they still need to show how anime is made, to follow the series' edutainment factor. After that, then yeah, just have Kazuya/Yuriko and Moritaka/Miho's weddings and call it a day... but remember that the Japanese typically ask their's girlfriend's father for their daughter's hand, who knows what his reaction's gonna be. And there's no way that'll be left out, since it was shown for Akito. We have reason to believe that Miho's father is overprotective, so it's still a toss-up...
Oh, I could think of a bunch of other things they could do after this. But the main event is over. The witch is dead and the princess has been rescued. After this, you could take a moment to show how the kingdom is being rebuild, but that's just an afterthought to show just how far the hero has come and how much he has grown, and generally shouldn't take up more then a chapter. Maybe a special double-issue if you have too many characters running around that all need to be shown happily ever after.
The point I'm trying to make is that Bakuman is now officially out of plot, and either needs to introduce some fresh conflict that isn't a retread of what we've already seen before or seems like a rather obvious ploy to stretch things out, or start wrapping things up. I am strongly in favour of the latter.

Yeah, I agree it's all denouement from here.
Still it doesn't mean it will stop be interesting, does it?
Yeah, I would be totally fine with a bunch of WAFF chapters from here on.
And I also want to see Mashiro and Azuki interact, 'cause I'm sure it's going to be cute and awkward.
Not to mention that the moment has been due for a long while now.
I'm glad that it did turn out this way and that I was wrong about my remark. Having seen some of the developments over 1 1/2 years, I can't be blamed for keeping my guard up and preparing for the worst.
As long as the things mentioned above can happen, I'm fine with it. Author internet troll, you have failed and it's time for you to move on.
Have you ever danced with tropes on the pale moonlight? The margin by which she won implies that the authors don't have a high opinion of vocal internet minorities.

Another Take That! in sight then?
Have you ever danced with tropes on the pale moonlight? The silver lining for the other voice actresses is that this whole affair is a huge publicity push for all of them; it is almost certain that a bunch of casting directors and such were watching the auditions and now that they're not playing Naho, there's plenty of time for them to play other roles.
They got Miho's flashback on page 19 backwards. .-.
