(Talk about the perfect avatar for that comment...)
I guess so... The problem is, each person has a different "line" that they don't want crossed and the conversation has turned to where that line should be. An inherently improbable thing to reach a conclusion on.
Uhh... hmm... [hands keyboard over to the family feminist who saw as much as I did]
Hi, this is Belian's sister here! He can't really articulate what's so disturbing about Busou Shinki
but I can sure try for him.
I think the problem is— yeah, you see this kind of stuff in porn and hentai. And honestly it's pretty gross there, too! But this isn't a porno or a hentai; from what I've seen of online descriptions, it seems to almost be a merchandise show, like, IDK, Transformers or something! It's based on action figures that are cool little fighting machines— if it weren't for the fact that these machines are given a feminine shape, it would seem like another Transformers, or Yu-Gi-Oh!
, or what-have-you.
And then you start watching the show, and... well, in the opening fight there was underboob, and I, personally, was like, "siiiigh, they're little dolls, I guess you can get away with stupid clothing if they're made of plastic."
And then there's the opening, where those fake plastic boobs are suddenly all sproingy, and I was like, "Oh."
And theeeen there's the post-opening shot that is zoomed in on the little robot servant fighter girl's crotch and thighs rubbing against each other, and I was like, "... ohhhhh."
I don't think it's terribly weird to go, "wait, what the hell, this is blatant fetish bait!" to a show that doesn't seem to have been advertised as such, and then go, "I am not in this for gettin' boners, I was hoping this would be... you know, an action fighting show, this is gross, I'm outie. /ollies into the sun." It seems like a pretty natural progression of things to me— like, say, if someone sat down to watch Strike Witches
because they're an aviation fan and wound up going NOPE. You got me?
[/takes keyboard back]
Good luck following her thought process... I know I get lost sometimes. Also, yes, that "ollies" comment is related to MSPA.
