Who's doing anything Illegally? The Green Team or myself? I can't say anything about the Green Team's legal actions, but I'm fairly sure I'm not breaking any laws. Though if I am do please let me know.

Ok this was annoying, but I'm sure it wouldn't have been as annoying if I knew what people had been saying. On the west side of town was a guy not letting me go further, and I figured he was stopping me from going because I didn't have a badge.

So I go over to the school and beat up Phil's Pokémon, and apparently this gives me a passing grade so I can now compete at the Gym. So I go over to the Gym and defeat everyone there getting my first badge. I get some stuff other than the badge for winning, one of witch being an HM. I figure it’s the HM for cut, as I’ve already seen a couple of little trees I want to cut down, but not much else that I want to do. However, I don’t know what Pokémon I want to learn it right now, so I figure I’ll worry about that later.

Going back to the west side of town, I find that the dude still won’t let me leave town and this just makes me want to boot him in the face. I figure the reason he’s not letting me leave is I haven’t explored the building that requires cut to enter, so I guess I’m not going to be able to put off having someone learn Cut.

Now mind you at this time I’ve only captured five different types of Pokémon, though I do have a sixth in on the PC. I figure I’ll teach the one on the PC the HM, but it turns out of all the Pokémon I have, he is the ONLY one that can’t learn it. Well I’m not about to teach the HM to my starter Pokémon, or that monkey Pokémon as it seems like it might be a unique. I’m also not going to teach it to one of my main party, so that means I need to either go capture a second cat or a second dog. I happen to capture a nice level 4 dog, and soon he knows the HM, and after a quick test on route 1, I find that indeed it is the HM for cut.

Before I go further though, I figure I should take assessment of if this was a mistake teaching this Pokémon how to cut. Personally I like to try to find a fairly common Pokémon that can learn at least four of the most useful HM so that way only one member of my party is wasting time with learning them except in special situations. If it turns out that this dog can’t learn that many HMs then it won’t be that hard getting the cat to try it out as an HM holder. If the cat isn’t good either, then that just means I’m not at a point in the game where I can get a good HM holder as I don’t think I have any other Pokémon are available to me.

So as it turns out, I guess it really doesn’t matter at this time if I went with a cat or dog, and I could have had it be personal preference. If though anyone knows any good HM holder Pokémon in Black and White and would like to tell me where to keep an eye out for one, it would be appreciated. I can always do the research myself, but it can get tedious and I’m sure someone has already figured out who makes a good HM holder.

Heading over to the building blocked by a tree, I use cut on it, but before I can get in the building Ann shows up and starts talking. Soon she has volunteered to help explore the ruins of this building, and not far in we hear the sound of a Pokémon. It doesn’t take us long to find it, but when we do, two of those goon guards show up and start talking, and then they start beating on the Pokémon.

Well Ann decides to interfere and soon I’m in battle with one of the goon guards. The combat starts by showing a shield with a P and a Z for its crest, though without knowing more about what people are saying this doesn’t mean much to me. The first goon goes down easily enough, but then the second one attacks me. Wait a second here, why are they attacking me instead of Ann? She’s the one that decided to hassle the goons. Why isn’t she helping with this fight? Something tells me that if I could understand what everyone says, that Ann will be all like “We defeated them” after the fight, even though she didn’t help at all.

After defeating the second goon guard, one of them tries to go back to beating on the Pokémon, when their boss shows up. From the looks of things it seems he’s curious what his guards are doing or perhaps why they aren’t doing it right. A second guy that looks like the boss but dressed in different clothing shows up and starts talking, and this gets fairly confused as their faces look the same, so I’m not sure if the game is trying to suggest they look identical except for their clothes or if they just look similar like how the goon guards all look much the same.

For now I’m going to assume that they look identical except for their clothing, and this suggests either that they are twins or that they are clones. Both of these possibilities have presidents in the Pokémon universe. While I try to decide what is more likely, they both disappear and a third one appears in the middle. He’s wearing red robes. Ok so triplets or clones, though it’s possible some sort of magic is in play here.

After the third boss talks for a bit, the two goon guards start talking with each other, and it comes off as them being just as confused as I am. They then run, and the third boss vanishes, leaving the Pokémon for its mother to come and find. Ann and I talk for a bit while watching the Pokémon, when a new person shows up and as the name is visible in the text box it’s apparent we’ve been introduced before, but I can’t tell who this person might be.

It’s at this time that the Pokémon leave, with one of them dropping some sort of item, but before I can figure out what it is, this new person dashes in and takes it before leaving. I then explore the place myself finding a bit of loot, but on my way back to the center I realize that where I meant the woman before and decide to head over to her house after healing, to see what’s up with that item she took. Turns out that either it was C-Gear or she gave me C-Gear to get me to stop asking questions about the thing she took. In any event, I now have C-Gear, that has wireless and what not features. At least now though the old man will let me onto route 3. On route 3, I find a trainer using a Pokémon that isn’t yet in my Pokedex, but after the battle I find that it was hanging out in the ruins of the house.

I think for the next little bit I’ll be searching the ruins trying to find my own floating blob thing.

Just a quick note on something I've been trying to avoid up until now, with the only reason me not avoiding anymore is that I can't.

So one of my Pokemon tried to learn his 5th move, but as I can't read the names of the moves or their effects, and I had to come up with some way of deciding if I should keep it or not, and if so what one I should get rid of.

Well for the second part, in deciding what one to get rid of if I get rid of one, that's easy enough as I have been using all the skills so I know what ones I like and what ones I don't like. But how do I decide if I'm going to loose a skill for a new skill?

So I decided to cheat and look the pokemon up on a site that has all the pokemon and their abilities. To avoid cheating as much as I could, I did a quick search for the pokemon in question, and only looked at his skills in question. I then decided not to keep that particular skill.

But does anyone have any suggestions for future situations like this? Part of the enjoyment of the game is not knowing what anything says, but at the same time once I got a good skill set on a pokemon, I won't really have one that I'm willing to throw away so I can get a skill I'm totally clueless on.

I came upon a playground full of little kids, so I did the only sensible thing and had my Pokémon beat up their Pokémon, and take the kids’ lunch money. There was a slide in their playground that I was all excited about using, but even though I could climb the stairs easily enough the slope on the slide wasn’t steep enough to actually slide on. What a boring playground.

After leaving the playground Phil caught up to me and wanted to do a Pokémon battle with me, but for some reason he still only has his starter and one other. I can understand that you might not want to train up Pokémon that you are ultimately going to replace, but it still seems odd that he wouldn’t at least keep a full team. Sure you can have your star player, but what happens if your star player goes down. An untrained Pokémon might still get in a good attack, and finish the battle. In the event that happens your untrained Pokémon is likely to get a lot of training from that one battle alone.

Sure, I know the argument that you would want that training to go to your star, but you already messed up and let your star faint. May as well be in damage control now and try not to lose the battle, and also your money. Well as Phil and I discuss the finer points of team building, some of those Goon Guards show up and rush on by. Then Ann and a friend of hers show up, and suggest that we find out what’s going on. At least that’s what I think she’s suggesting, because when I tried to just ignore it and go down a different road she insisted I go deal with the guards already.

I just don’t really see the point, Phil already rushed off after the guards, and even though he lost the battle him and I just had I’m fairly sure he can hold his own against a couple of goon guards, should things become physical. Ann though isn’t so sure though apparently, so I’ll go help Phil out and hope everyone keeps their tempers under control.

It isn’t long before we’ve followed the goon guards to a cave, and Phil rushes right in while I take a moment to assess the surroundings to make sure that the guards couldn’t taken some other side path. It doesn’t take long for me to be absolutely sure that they went into the cave, as not far away was a girl that would have witnessed the only way to back track to the main road without us seeing them. Even then it would have only taken them right back to Ann and her friend, so whatever these goon guards are up to is through this cave.

While verifying this information though, I did manage to capture a horse Pokémon with electrical powers, and get some information about a bird that I cough capture in this area as well. I decide though that I’ll come back for the bird, as I don’t see it helping much inside the cave. Just inside the cave though two of the goon guards try to prevent us from entering, but don’t work as a team at all, and are soon dealt with. But the commotion caused two more guards to shows up that are able to work as a team.

After dealing with the second pair of goon guards, they leave the cave and Phil decides to leave as well apparently believing without the guards here that there is nothing left of interest. The problem with that logic is that it seems to me that the guards just didn’t want us watching them, so they might be coming back later when they feel they can work in peace. So while he goes back to where Ann and her friend are waiting, I’m going to go a bit deeper into this cave and see what pops up.

Such as a swooping bat trying to scare me half to death and though I don’t think that the guards had been here for that, the bat is a nice find. Something else tells me that they hadn’t been in the cave for any of the rock Pokémon wandering about or even the lost TM I found. I suspect that what brought them into the cave is actually on the other side of this flooded portion that prevents me from going much deeper.

After meeting back up with Ann and her friend, they thank me for trying to learn more about what these guys have been up to and even give me some more pokeballs of a special variety. Not sure what they do other than look pink though. Well for the next little bit, I’m going to just work on getting a couple of these Pokémon that I’ve missed. It’s getting to the point where I’m going to need to put a bit of thought into who I have in my regular team, so I’ll share a list of the various types I have after this and if anyone has any advice as to what ones I should keep in my team, and what ones should stay on the sidelines they would be most welcome.

All right, as I don’t know how to share the names of these Pokémon with everyone without cheating and going to a website, I’ll just give descriptions of them as well as their Pokedex numbers (in case someone else wants to go to a website and know for sure what one it is).

  1. This is that noble grass Pokémon that I started with, and I’ll likely keep him in my team. He is currently level 13 with three attacks.

  2. ???

  3. ???

  4. The fire pig that I do not have.

  5. ???

  6. ???

  7. That water beaver that I do not have.

  8. ???

  9. ???

  10. This is a beaver looking normal Pokémon, currently at level 11 with a dark and a normal physical attack. I believe they are the same attacks that my dog has, just with two different secondary skills. Also in storage is a level 4 version of this guy with HM Cut.

  11. ???

  12. My shiny dog Pokémon of a normal type. Just because he’s shiny I sort of want to keep him in my main team. It is currently level 11 with one dark attack and one normal attack, both physical.

  13. ???

  14. ???

  15. A dark cat Pokémon, which is level 12 and still doesn’t have any dark attacks. Though, it does have an interesting paw ability thing that doesn’t always have the same effect.

  16. ???

  17. A grass monkey that I do not have.

  18. ???

  19. A fire monkey that I do not have.

  20. ???

  21. A level 12 water monkey Pokémon with three attacks all of different types.

  22. ???

  23. A floating Pokémon with a floral pattern, and I’m not fully sure on its type. I think it’s a Psychic Pokémon. He does have a handy attack that makes enemies fall asleep and I have been using that to insure captures. Even if I don’t keep him in the main party, I’ll likely keep him on reserve for when I want to gather more Pokémon into my army. It is currently level 11, and a nice special attack.

  24. ???

  25. My first bird Pokémon, and as of yet untested in battle. He is currently level 10.

  26. ???

  27. ???

  28. An electric horse Pokémon, and as of yet untested in battle, but is currently at level 10.

  29. ???

  30. I’m not fully sure on the type for this guy, but it is either ground or rock. He looks like a rock, so I want to say it is rock, but I thought the icon for rock type was a darker color. Untested in battle, but is currently at level 10.

  31. ???

  32. ???

  33. The bat Pokémon I just captured, that has two types, one being flying and the other being the same as #23. Still not sure what that type is though. Untested in battle, but is currently at level 11.

I’ll not likely be listing all my Pokemon again like this in the future, but I had to do it at least once.

So me and my Pokémon have just been training and sightseeing. We have gone as far as a city whose name I don't know, though it seems to be the home of a gym. Once I get around to battling there, I'll have my second badge. To the west of town just before a forest is a nice little training area to which I've been going. I would do some training inside the forest, but a group of those goon guards have been occupying it for some hunting expedition and have not been allowing anyone to enter.

To be fair, these goon guards are wearing knight templar clothing, so they are better dressed than your normal goon, but the way they act doesn’t really make them come off as noble knights either. I’ll have to think of something better to call them, but I’m not sure what’s in between goon and knight wanna be.

Some Pokemon that have joined my ranks have been a fairy looking one (#37), a fighter used in construction (#38), a tadpole looking one (#41), and a black belt (#44). I’ve also seen other trainers using an armadillo (#49), a clown head (#52), and a girly looking plant (#54). In this area I’ve been training I should be able to find the armadillo and girly looking plant myself, though I’m not sure where to look for the clown head. On a related note I have heard someone in town saying the name of the girly looking plant one, and I believe if I can capture one they’ll do a trade with me. However, even though I should be able to find the armadillo and the plant, I have yet to encounter either of them myself. I have to wonder if there only come out during certain times.

Meanwhile in a darker dimension a girl by the name of Z starts her adventure...

That's right everyone, I just purchased Pokemon Black, and will soon be taking it back to my second DS to start a new adventure. I'll still be playing White, but I figure nobody is reading this to get a walk-through, but is instead reading it because they are interested in some of the new things that Black and White have to offer.

One of those things is the C-Gear, and what I've noticed is that there just really isn't that much information on how that stuff works when having two game boys talk with each other locally in a High Link. So I'll be creating Z to hurry up and get the C-Gear, and then experimenting with my two game boys to see what I can get them to do with each other.

As I have two legit copies of the game, and two game boys if anyone has any suggestions of what they would like me to try to do or attempt to see, do please share. For now though, I'm going to get some sleep and start Z's adventure when I wake up.

ok a slowing of my plan. I had to do something real fast before going to bed, but I figured while doing that I could at least get my game in my other game boy and get it the adventure started at the very least...

But no, that doesn't work because my second DS is actually a D Si. Lovely, when I first got the D Si I was disappointed that it couldn't play the older games like the DS could, and I was disappointed with a few other features of it, but overall I was fine with it. When I got Pokemon White though, I instinctively grabbed my DS instead of my D Si, because to me it is a better system. So I had no clue that when I got Pokemon Black that my D Si would not be able to run it, even though the DS could.

Lovely. So I have two options here now...

Play both Black and White on the same DS and figure out nothing at all about the C-Gear system, but at least figure out what's different between Black and White?

Or go and purchase a new DS sometime when I have a chance to go to the store again.

I'll give you only a single guess to figure out what I'm going to do...

It's possible, but where I'm at most people have 360s, P S3s, and a few Wii. Most use their iPhone for any sort of mobile game play. If anyone does use a DS then it's just not widely known as they aren't taking it out with them when they go places. I know someone that does have a DS but he's loaned it to a friend already, but if he gets it back I might just let him barrow Pokemon Black so we can test the whole High Link stuff.

Problem is, our work schedules tend to have us working at totally different times, so when he's off and able to play any sort of game I'm likely at work and visa versa.

As strange as it might sound the most effective solution will be for me to just go to the store and get a second DS. That might sound like an expensive option (and it is) but I set aside amount of money that I can use for any fun activity I want to do. If I have enough money in that area and I want to spend it, then it's no skin off my nose.
