I've actually never heard of Flare Boost until now, and it does sound pretty nifty; if perhaps situational. Burn isn't rare, at least.

Have the mon recover what they would've taken as poison damage rather than just 1/8 health.

1/8 health is how much Poison does. Unless you're talking about Toxic Poison, which will eventually heal you to full after like 5 turns.
