Shen is still boss.

Tried Varus on the PBE. He is SUPER FUN. Went into a custom with my friend and we tried different builds. I went Hybrid, he went standard AD. My early burst was ridiculous with my rageblade and gunblade, but lategame standard AD is so much better.

As for his viability, I think he is alright. He probably won't see competitive play, but he will do good against all lower-range A Ds like Tristana *lane phase* and Graves. Kog will most likely have the advantage over him, and Caitlyn will probably be about even. His Rain of Arrows will definitely come in handy against the trend of heals on AD carries.

His ultimate is....good, but the tendrils dont stun additional targets until AFTER the first target is done being stunned.

How does he beat Trist lane phase? She has one of the strongest lane phases in the game when paired with the right support like Alistar. At levels 2, 4, and 6, Trist is a HUGE threat in lane because she can 100-0 you.

He has the range advantage in every sense. He can stay out of rocket jump range and poke with his Q. He has a healing reduction like Trist and will also have a support. If its Soraka, Trist cant 100-0 between heal and Soraka passive. If its Taric, stun when Trist jumps in. If its Ali, headbutt/pulv in the order of his choice. I'm not saying he hard counters her, but until she gets range from her passive, she won't be able to trade poke unless Varus goes into the middle of minions to take damage from her explosive shot aoe. He will probably get pushed to turret as Trist kinda naturally pushes with explosive aoe, but I didn't notice a problem with his last hitting under tower even with suboptimal runes on PBE. (I had movespeed quints instead of AD quints)

EDIT: Trist breaks even with Varus' AA range at level 4. Before that, Varus can get in some potshots if he feels safe to do so. After that, she can attack him back but he's still got his long-range arrow poke. Tristana will still be a major force lategame though, and I can't attest for Varus' power in the lategame.

potshots are NOT what you want to do vs Trist. All in Tris + Alistar can 100-0 you at level 2.

As soon as you go in to attack her after she hits level 2, you're under risk of getting instagibbed

Anyway, I haven't faced any really good Trists in lane, so its probably just me being ignorant to her true lane power. Still though, I feel like Varus isn't going to be all that bad. Competitive level? Not likely. Fun? Oh very much yes.

The teamcomp of Ryze, Mundo, Urgot, Soraka, and Riven is just super super strong right now. It's being abused by almost all the Korean and European teams right now due to how tanky yet threatening the team is.

The second you're out of position, Ryze, Urgot, and Riven can all flash>CC you. You don't have any targets to focus except Riven and she's not that squishy at all. Mundo, Riven and Ryze all do high aoe damage. Soraka heals op. Urgot Soraka lanes dominate bot. With the correct bans, so do top and mid.

I do feel like Urgot needs to be nerfed. His swap is just insane coupled with his complete lane dominance. Compare to Ashe whose utility is amazing like Urgot (both have slow and hard cc. Ashe has a cv though) but where Ashe has a poor laning phase, Urgot dominates the laning phase. He's also a tanky AD which Ashe is not.

Lessee, I have Poppy, Janna, and Morgana as champs right now. I'm feeling like going for Lux, Riven, or maybe Fizz. Any ideas which I should go for first? (Yes, I realize they're all expensive in IP, which is why I'm asking what I should try to get first)

The games where you win aren't clearly one-sided are a bit fewer than I'd prefer, yeah.

Filthy heretic, there's no such things as a "secret" society of Urgot player, Urgot is public and mock the manboobs-less world around him.

The amount of utility and tankiness that Urgot brings to your team is simply staggering.

He also doesn't need that much AD to be effective. So you've got a champion who's extremely cost efficient, dominates lane, has some of the best utility in the game, and is tanky. Who else was this? Shen, Lee Sin, Gangplank, Ryze, Tryndamere, Singed, release Graves etc.

Smells like OP.
