So I'm going on a ten day vacation to Guatemala for a family friend's wedding. In this thread, I'll talk about it, and upload a ton of pictures. Mind you, I'm doing all of this on a blazing 24 kb/s connection. So expect things to take a little while.
So, I might as well start by talking about our flight here. I woke up around 7:30 AM, ate breakfast, got taken to the Fruitvale BART station, rode that to the San Francisco International Airport, waited for a while, took a 3-hour flight to Houston, waited for another while, took a flight to Guatemala City, waited some more, took a shuttle to Antigua, and got to our house just in time to go to bed. I probably spent half the SF flight looking out the window at the ground below.
I have to say though- Texas farms aren't that interesting to look at. California was much better. I didn't see much between the two states due to the loading screen. (Clouds.) So it was kind of boring. I got to watch Transformers 2 on the way to Guatemala City, though. It wasn't the best movie I've seen, though the climax was very good. I can sum up the best part of the movie in one spoiler-tastic word. RAILGUN. The whole climax was fun, but that was by far the best part. I didn't bother looking out the window. All that was out there for about 90% of the trip was black. Well, that and the wing.
As for today, we went around Antigua looking at things. The hotel where our friend's getting married, in particular. I took a lot of pictures there. I'll try to get 'em up on my Picasa account soon. Remember though, 24 kb/s. We also had a rather filling lunch. Didn't get many pictures of that, though. I also got some pics of the house where the bride, groom, and their families are staying. I'll also link to the brochure site for our house when I get the pictures up.
Also, I brought along Paranoia and Shadowrun. I even bought a pack of dice just for the trip! I've only played one round of Abantey before, but that was really fun and I'd like to play again sometime. Some of the people here (including the groom) used to play RPGs, so we won't be lost. In fact, Shadowrun used to be their favorite game. I'll also have to download FATAL and see how bad it actually plays.
So yeah. Expect another update sometime tomorrow evening.

Well I'm glad you're having fun even though you didn't want to go, J Bridge.

Well, we just went to an Italian restaurant. I had a personal pizza. Pretty much the only notable thing I remember is that my Coke came in a glass bottle. That thing was awesome! Unfortunately, I forgot to take it back home. I also forgot my camera, so no pictures there.
Another thing I should mention. Earlier today we went to the bank to exchange some cash. We failed, but that's not what I'd like to mention. I noticed that there was a guy with a pistol there, as well as two guys with shotguns. You don't see that kind of protection at an American bank.

A lot of places just give you a can, or a can with a glass to pour it in. Kind of defeats the purpose of ordering a drink at a restaurant, no?

Hey, I remembered what venir means. Cool. Why do I always end up following your liveblogs?

Porque el señor bridge es muy padre, gracias. Si soy un Grammar Nazi, en español, ya que en ingles soy un asco.
![]() The proper wording for Grammar Nazi in Spanish is "Talibán Ortográfico", by the way.
You cannot Win, you cannot Draw, you cannot leave the game.

I forgot to mention- we went to a coffee plantation today. Honestly, I didn't find it that interesting. Still, I took a ton of pictures of the tour. Something I noticed was that for lunch I had a burger and fries, with a Coke on the side. I came all the way to Guatemala, and I have the quintessential American meal. Oh well. It was good, and I got a Coke bottle as a souvenir. Also, I had some delicious ice cream for dessert. Unfortunately, it was so delicious that I forgot to take a picture of it. Anyway, it was really good and you didn't get any. HA!
Also, my dad's sick so he didn't come with us. In fact, he's been missing out on a lot of stuff. Still, we bought some chocolate for him.
