The sad, REAL American dichotomyJesse is Little Anthony Freemont in my mind, except without the sociopathy. Down to wishing himself to the cornfield.
And I try to keep the fandom at arm's length. When the biggest SPN community on Livejournal will kick you out if you have anything less than a homicidal hatred of Jensen Ackles' girlfriend, there are issues abound.

I do wonder if there is a relation between Jesse and the Trickster there; the powers seem too similar in scope, and the Trickster hasn't exactly shown much affection for demons (think of what he led Sam to do during the Groundhog's Day episode).
"The secret we should never let the gamemasters know is that they don't need any rules." - E. Gary GygaxI knew there was something special to the trickster. This week's episode is awesome
The sad, REAL American dichotomyWow. Archangels are damn powerful if they can all do what the Trickster/Gabriel did. Guess that sorta screws up my theory about Jesse and the Trickster, then.

I always liked Jo (quite frankly, I think Alona Tal is beautiful), and I don't see why more people didn't before this episode.
Things were going so well early on when Crowley turned out to be a likeable, intelligent and helpful guy. Of course, that's what tipped me off that Mood Whiplash would be especially rough this week.
HIATUS TIME!!!
The sad, REAL American dichotomySo I don't watch a lot of tv. What's this show have that Hellblazer doesn't? Aside from Jeffrey Dean Morgan, I mean.

A True Lady's Quest - A Jojo is You!Compelling live action characters? A 42 minute horror movie with serial elements every week?
I mean, not going to knock Hellblazer, but it's tough to compare it to Supernatural when they're in totally different media.
I loved this week's episode. Heart-wrenching, to be sure, but so awesome. Lucifer is quite the villain. Yay for Crowley being so Genre Savvy and so unflappable.
"The secret we should never let the gamemasters know is that they don't need any rules." - E. Gary GygaxI don't normally watch Supernatural, but a few friends of mine have commented that Crowley is rather like, well, Crowley.
The owner of this account is temporarily unavailable. Please leave your number and call again later. It's probably a Shout-Out to Good Omens, honestly. The writers know their stuff.
Of course, do we actually see the Colt taking out anything after Crowley gives it to them? The hellhounds are invisible, so it's hard to say. Could it be that Crowley set them up by giving them non-magic ammo? I don't think so, but it's possible, and would be the real reason besides "it doesn't work on me" that it didn't kill Lucifer.
"The secret we should never let the gamemasters know is that they don't need any rules." - E. Gary GygaxCrowley's rational, justified by Lucifer saying "they're just demons" has me think he was sincere. Also, we know it was at least the real gun, as he killed his two guards with it. Plus, given the situation, they'd probably have Castiel do some mojo to be sure they were real bullets, or something.
The sad, REAL American dichotomyCastiel's delivery of the line "it's... going down" cracked me up.
As for the gun, I thought previous seasons established that the ammo was just as important as the gun itself, so Crowley wasting two guys with it was rather jarring.
But seriously. Summoning Death and not playing Johnny Cash's 'when the man comes around'? That's dropping the ball, right there.

Any song with lyrics in that scene would've been absolutely ridiculous and utter Narm. And yes, I'm familiar with the song.
I think they established they could make new bullets in batches
The sad, REAL American dichotomyRE: Bullets. Bobby can apparently enchant bullets to work, but Crowley could've used the two "real" bullets in the gun to waste the guards, then handed them a bandolier of non-activated bullets.
That said, it's true that Lucifer's attitude does make it unlikely that Crowley was lying to them. Then again, they are demons, and Lucifer could've been lying when he said that he doesn't lie.
The song you're talking about was probably just too expensive and, of course, The Sarah Connor Chronicles did the Johhny Cash song just last year.

"The secret we should never let the gamemasters know is that they don't need any rules." - E. Gary Gygaxso Heroes may be getting cancelled. If only we had their budget and a network that advertised to that audience.
The sad, REAL American dichotomyWell, Supernatural is in its last season anyway. Kripke has no interest in continuing the story past this season's finale, or so I've heard.
This is a good thing, if you ask me. Better to go out when you're still ahead of the game.
"The secret we should never let the gamemasters know is that they don't need any rules." - E. Gary Gygaxhad - past tense
May or may not be in its last season. There's the rumors the network and contracts call for a 6th season. Though: 1)what would they do? 2)seems like too smart of a move for CW to make
And referring to your post from a month ago, I don't think all archangels can do what the trickster does. Remember, he fell from grace to become a trickster god, and it may still be his "special power" as an angel, too.

The sad, REAL American dichotomyBabylon Five learned the hard way that an epilogue season after defeating the biggest of bads is a tough sell. Where do you go from beating both Heaven and Hell? Even as it stands, the leads always mention how penny-ante some of their cases are this season in comparison to their main problem.
Maybe they could attach rockets to the Impala and travel the universe defeating the supernatural threats of aliens, gaining the gratitude of Green Skinned Space Babes.

"The secret we should never let the gamemasters know is that they don't need any rules." - E. Gary GygaxThey could move the boys to India, where there is a much more elaborate pantheon available to do battle with/for. Plus? Group dance scenes! Always fun.
Dump the networks!now picturing Dean and Sam with bushy Indian moustaches
The sad, REAL American dichotomyabout that whole "6th season" gambit, technically if that whole thing with Jesse isn't resolved the brother technically have an even bigger bad than the current one, depending on how you interpret the anti-Christ. But that sounds like a rather way to go about things. Personally I think if there is a sixth season the brother's will end up as side characters, Kripke mentioned that there's a lot more lore to explore in the Supernatural verse, there are several characters and concepts in that show that could pull a Torchwood, I think that may be more who Kripke was going for in terms of a sixth season, keep the myth not the characters
Thing is, Kripke wasn't going for a sixth season at all. Anything he cooks up will have only been in his head since this season six stuff started (unintentional) a year ago. Though that Jesse thing might be an interesting way to do it, season hints state he's going to be a recurring character this season, so that may get wrapped up, and he doesn't have the depth of backstory everyone else has that we've come to love.
The sad, REAL American dichotomyGoing slightly off topic here, but I just wanted to give my two cents on the Season 5 finale and beyond. As much as I want them all to hug it out and have a happy, resolved ending, I can't help but dread in my gut that Sam will sadly, eventually say yes and that everything will just implode/explode/go to Hell, no pun intended. I really don't know what to expect.
I'd love a Season 6, but like most of you, I don't know what they'd do for it, and it wouldn't really be Supernatural without Sam and Dean as the central characters. Good on the writers if they want to try a Torchwood-esque spinoff, but I don't know if it'd be as interesting.
what I'd like to see is Sam and Dean hugging each other one last time between two circles of holy fire (like a venn diagram) and saying yes simultaneously, so that they can attempt to kill lucifer, while having michael there as insurance.
The sad, REAL American dichotomy
I wonder how long they can keep the parallel Winchesters storylines going before they reunite.
Raphael was pretty awesome.
