Wow, WoT's players are mature as the people on DuelingNetwork.

Shows how 75% people playing the game don't even know how many of its basic mechanics (like penetration and damage rolls) work. The KV-2 instance you mentioned is a classic example.

Penetrate weakspot, roll high, THEN hit an important module like an ammo rack = dead tank, regardless of tier level. And people STILL don't know why this happens. Sheesh.

The guy with the pron link was likely trolling. That or mentions of skill.exe, commonsense.rar, are responses to hacking accusations I've seen before.

Anyone else in A clan participating in the third campaign? It's tier 6 clan wars right now so the different strats can get pretty interesting. My clan had battles yesterday where we beat an average clan with a similar layout to us, completely wrecked HAVOK, then got pretty badly beaten by a clan that brought some extra hellcats. Fun though. I'm around 3100 in fame point rankings so I've got a shot at one of those reward tanks if we can keep it up.

Not to throw off the topic... but I have heard a lot of folks mention that there is an actual hack out there right now, particularly by the name of Warpack. Supposedly it's a combination of several different mods, plus a another one that supposedly screws around with your tank shells in a way that all shells act like ACPR or HEAT. It might just be an urban legend propagated by disgruntled players, especially given how dumb certain members of the WOT community are, but the fact that it's being mentioned even by tier 8 - 10 players has me wondering.

Quoth its purported site:

We are glad to introduce the War Pack - modpack for the World of Tanks game.
The modpack contains:

- smart modified autoaim, that can track a target behind obstacles and highlight its contour. Also, it doesn't aim at the center of the vehicle, but at (preprogrammed) vulnerable spots. Oh, and it also calculates the speed of the target and aims in front of it to compensate (pre-aim) - automatic fire extinguisher/repair, a script that triggers the repair/extinguish automatically as soon as it happens
- removes any aim circle jerking (contrary to he official version, there is no jerk even when you get rammed)
- counterarty hack that puts a red dot on the spot enemy arty just fired from
- sixth sense mod that replaces the perk (if you don't have it), it shows you not only you are targetted but also who's targetting you
- artymode for tanks and T Ds, snipermode for arty (with the artymode you can fire HE shells accross the map with a regular tank)
- tracerhack (visible and color tracers)
- a mod showing on minimap where trees fell or buildings got destroyed ("ideal for field commanders")
- a mod that removes ALL vegetation and "binoculars" in sniper mode
- laser pointer mod
- a free camera mod
- enemy reload timer
- white wrecks
- fire burst mode
- extended zoom in sniper mode

War Pack requires the Premium Wo T account!

Looks real to me.

[up]Yep, saw that site too. What's interesting about that particular mod is that they want you to actually pay for it, AND give over your account info - something that is usually ill-advised. Also, the reviews regarding the actual effectiveness of the mod vary - some say it's not always consistent with activation, others say it's the best cure vs sky cancer since sliced bread. And then of course, the large majority believe it to be totally illegal, despite Wargaming taking no stance on the majority of the mods out there.

The WARPACK thread in the US forums is pretty amusing.

Warpack is basically everything you could possibly do to cheat at wot without actually hacking the server. It can give an edge, but almost everything it does a human can do with enough awareness, with the exception of the hacked sixth sense, and the whole arty mode for everyone part, which you can kind of pull it off if you aim in third person view/use auto aim anyway.

Rabid; They don't call the 152 the Troll Cannon for nothing. :p. These dorks sound like they aren't even aware of their weapons own power. You know the fact that a big HE shell into a weak spot frequently smacks the crap out of things inside the tank. Every time I hit someone with that gun I frequently injure or kill crew or take out modules even if the tank isn't burned down after the hit.

I have been having a grand ole time playing Tier I and II battles. It is a nice break from the grind of the higher tiers and the more crazy people in them. From watching the game play and behavior patterns of the other players in game I am not alone.

Warpack sounds like cheating to me. Things like auto-aim, deliberately by passing the games functions for spotting an enemy, using arty mode for a tank that isn't artillery, and tracer tricks. I recall Wo T coming down things with tracers a while back. My bet is Warpacks days are numbered. Nothing is said now but it won't be long before it gets a boot to the face.

Achae: Rather amusing vid.

Warpack is already banned. Anyone caught using it risks their account being suspended at the very least.

Re War Pack: Yes, I know it's an obvious scam/fake hack and therefore it ain't worth the effort to install.

Re KV-2 rampage: Trust me, I've been on the receiving end of the trollcannon enough times to recognize the KV-2 and to leave it the fuck alone when you don't have the firepower to face it. But then again, the A-43 doesn't stand an chance, neither does an KV-1 (if the driver is idiotic enough to give me an perpendicular shot to his sides), KV-2 can still nuke another KV-2, hell not even the Tiger H is safe from the shell if it causes a fire!

Well I logged in a few minutes ago, started an match with my SU-100, only to be disconnected without the chance to do anything, and now I can't get back in...But it looks like we'll be receiving a lot of consumables during the holidays according to an FTR article.

Uh, no. This is the video shown during Tokyo Game Show (see the date? 10/10/2014), where for a limited time people could download the skins. Needless to say, the quota was done in less than 30 minutes.

What I've learned during today's grind is that the Sherman Jumbo can easily gun down an T-150 and can barely outmaneuver an SU-100, but doesn't stands an chance against the SU-122-44. And speaking of Russian tank destroyers, the 122mm on the SU-100 is perfect for scaring the shit out of whomever I ambush: I just read the minimap for an lone target, take an detour that gives me an advantage, wait for my target to roll right past me as I nail them for 400+ damage. And then they usually scramble for cover as I reload. At this point, my victim is taking potshots at me as I reverse to draw him into the open. Another 12.2cm shell into the hull quickly serves as an reminder on how lethal the SU-100 can be.

And of course, there's an ongoing debate on the NA forums on whether or not to keep the neg rep/ positive rep system. And I doubt it if they'll remove it, given that the vote is 78% in favor of preserving the system...

Finally into the ELC AMX.

Had some ok last matches with the 40 but a tank with a bit more oomph for the gun will be appreciated.

Ah the ELC AMX...two of my more memorable games are in that tank. One is in Dragon Ridge, the other in South Coast. The former is memorable because of my performance, the latter is memorable because the heavies I killed (three of them 1v1s too - T29, AMX M4 45, T-150) can't hit me at all. Most of their "damage dealt" is through scraping. LOL

I'm reading this because it's interesting. I think. Whiskey, Tango, Foxtrot, over.
